Disappointing non-stick longevity
Non-stick coating started deteriorating after less than 12 months. Compared to my other N/S coated products, it's super disappointing, and easily the shortest lasting. Attached photo is pretty much after 12 months usage of once a month on average.
I didn't mind the thermostat/temp control. It definitely doesn't have the "range" of others, it's Achilles Heel is the lower temp ranges. Even at a smidge over the lowest, it's still too hot and feisty to lightly simmer or slow cook. This in turn, makes it great for dishes needing decent heat - I've ...Read more
done several huge batches of special fried rice that turned out spectacular. Yet, most stews/casseroles were overdone. Steaks fry up great, so it's clearly a high heat fry pan. Yet...? The trade-off is, the hotter you go, the more the Teflon or whatever coating it is, blisters, peels, and deteriorates super quickly. My average use was approx once a month. So, after maybe a dozen of my uses and it already looks like it's been used and abused for 5 or so years, or 50 odd uses with the wrong utensils.. The depth of the unit is amazing - I have the KEF175 deep banquet, and was able to do many nights worth of dinners in one batch. But, the weakness of the non-stick coating just isn't worth the hassle. It's smarter to spend 50% odd more on a product that lasts longer, rather than pick the Teflon coating out of your food and shudder at the negative health benefits of eating the coating. Really wanted to love and recommend this fry pan, but just can't. Otherwise I'd be lying to myself and everyone else. 2 thumbs down, is my rating. It didn't spontaneously combust, or run off with my partner, but.. It definitely wasn't either reliable, or the pan I hoped it was.
Purchased in June 2021 at JB Hi-Fi for A$59.99.
