Needs another gear.
PROS:
Friends think it looks more expensive that it was. A lot of people seem to think it's a Victory.
Front wheel gets many compliments
Looks and feels bigger than a 900cc.
Cheap on insurance
CONS:
Fuel economy is about 60 MPG at 50 MPH with a steady hand and drops down to 45 MPG at 75 MPH. It only has 5 gears and really needs a 6th. The bike seems happiest cruising around 50 MPH in 5th gear. Anything over that and it starts to rev quite high even though it still has plenty of power. It's fairly expensive to change the pulley ratio.
The fuel gauge seems to be inaccurate. It drops to empty and only takes about 2.5 gallons to fill its claimed 4 gallon tank. ...Read more

2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 900
I bought my bike used about 1 year ago. It had only 6,258 mile's on it. It already had the cobra dragster dual's, Power Commander 3, and Memphis Shade's windshield installed. I absolutely love this bike. I have put 12,500 mile's on it with no problem's whatsoever. This is truly the ultimate bike.

Beautiful bike, easily the best in its class. I also test rode a Suzuki M50 which handled nicely but lacked a bit of torque and scraped pegs too easily, and a Yamaha XVS950 which sounded like a tractor and handled like a pig. The Vulcan is a stunning looker (no photos do it justice) and handles better than any other cruiser I've ridden. My previous bike was a CBR600F and at all sensible speeds above walking pace the Vulcan handles just as well although with a little more arm effort. small contact patch at the front means you can get a little bit of 'tramlining' on bad roads, and coming to a stop the front wheel wants to 'flop' to one side, especially if you're on an uphill slope, but they're not major issues. Brakes are good though not stunning; I tend to to use around 60:40 front:rear effort, as opposed to around 80:20 on a sportsbike. Stock exhaust won't turn heads if that's your thing but it's loud enough for the rider to hear and has a very nice, authentic single-crankpin tone. Windblast isn't too bad -- I think the sloping tank and the instrument panel keep some of it off -- but a small windshield would help. Tank range is excellent, I've managed to get over 340km before the light comes on and then you've still got 4L left. The only thing I don't like is that there's no safe way of carrying luggage without adding accessories, but otherwise I'm entirely happy with the Vulcan. Reliable, rides well with cross between cruiser and mid sport. Instrument display is in wrong place for safety. Replace the pipes with Cobras and Voila! A Harley Killer!
Stunning lines and great Kawa reliability. Skim off the tank badges and other junk for that real clean look and it has everyone guessing. Lots of great customizations available now including the awesome fat rear end kit.
A 6th gear is a must! This is a ridiculous oversight for those who like a highway cruise. At anything over 100kmph it's just revving too hard and has the grunt...Read more

so far very good bike good build quality and good performance,fuel consumption seems to be very good.rear passenger footrests to close to exhauts burn shoe rubber kawasaki should know better .
comfortable and easy to ride bought the black special edition for looks and value for money againt the other Japanese cruisers $12800 ride away
matt black exhauts may have to change for chrome see how they go, done only 800klm

Vulcan 2012 model
Not a bad machine to ride,it is quiet comfortable and not bad at handling,has good lines and looks ok,well all da chicks love this one,bike is not too loud but its loud enough for the cars to hear you coming,i cant stand very loud machines.I hope they continue to make the vulcan in japan(i assume that's where its made),couldn't find a country of origin plate on mine,anyways i hope kawasaki dont skimp on parts and stuff like other manufactures do and go to Thailand to make bikes,i have seen some shocking bikes come from over there.i think kawasa...Read more
ki could go the extra distance and make this bike a more up market machine as it is a really neat bike,less plastic and better quality for some things,radiator cap you cant remove as it is under the petrol tank,why put a cap under there?all vehicle owners need access to all fluids while out on the road,bad design putting radiator cap under the petrol tank,to fill up the radiator is gunna take you several hours lol. Price was ok,rides quiet smooth,sounds good looks good. Mine did not come with a sparkplug spanner,also bike was not set up totally correct from dealership,clutch popped out and a couple of other parts were missing.not good when buying a brand new bike mmmmm?2 comments

Owned mine for 2 months and love it. (Originally wanted to buy a large capacity bike) Tested the 1600 & 2000 Vulcans. All Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda cruisers oh and a Harley dyna Bob as well. Nothing came close for looks (except for the Harley)and price was amazing, negotiated $11,800 ride away!!!
The flowing lines and fat tank, a magic blue paint job, what a head turner, it just grabs you. The handling, comes with a belt drive front and rear disc's. Handling is smooth and forgiving
Could use 1 more gear. Gearbox a little clunky when shifting but this may only need adjusting at it's first service

Excellent
Fantastic bike easy to ride and looks the part. My first bike in 15 years and I will be keeping for years to come. Wife loves it as well.
Real head turner. Easy to customise and parts a plenty. Very smooth ride and a smile you cant wipe.
Rear pegs to close to exhaust spent 1 hour cleaning rubber off the chrome.

i have removed all badges & customiesed the tank & put a formula 1 exhaust,custom pegs,& a big air filter goes faster & sounds great
very good handling,great looks,low cost,easy to customise
a chrome front spoke wheel would be better & a 6th gear,& speedometer up front & not on the tank.

i fitted a set of vance and hines pipes big air kit and a dynojet injection system and now the bike really goes ive had it since nov 06 and done nearly 40thou ks on it and it dosent miss a beat congratulations kawasaki for a awesome bike (just got to hide the keys from my brother he got a softail and prefers to ride mine)
absolutly brilliant the bike is aweseome
could use a bigger tank cos the bike is so comfotorble you dont want to get off

Excellent
I bought it new May 2007 and it now has 22000ks on it. It will sit on 140km/hr for as long as you want. It hasn't had anything go wrong with it. I test rode a 883 Sporster before I bought the 900 what a dissapionting bike.
It handles very good. The price is right
Another gear or higher top gear would be nice
