Perfect for bigger families
We purchased a diesel 2017 model and it is unbelievable how great it is on fuel can get roughly 800 km out of a tank it accommodates our family of six easily. It has electric doors which can be operated by button which is perfect in wet weather the doors can be opened before you are at the car making it easy to get the little ones in quickly. It's ver easy to drive and for a bigger car easy to park with reversing camera.

Good car when it runs
We were happy with our choice looked at many cars and found the Kia carnival was wider and could accommodate the whole family and pets I'll start with the PROS:
. Seats fold from back and middle rows allowing plenty of room for items, dog crates etc, fits 3 child seats in the middle row, only fit 2 child seats at the back. Front seats have plenty of room.
. The side door is solid, hit a kangaroo on one side and it popped back out like nothing happened.
. Smooth to drive, handles well on the road.
. Can sleep in the car with the seats down, plenty of room.
. Stylish design, navigation is easy to use, sound is clear for music and the DVD player is awesome when camping.
. Reverse camera is excellent
. Economical
CONS: ...Read more
. Although it comes with a 7year warranty it will only last you until the car hits 200,000ks . servicing is expensive at $500-$800 per service with log book to keep your warranty. . This car did break down within 3months since purchase in the middle of no where because the sump plug came out when it was serviced by John McGrath and we were left with a broken down car for 3 months as the dealership tried to avoid replacing a new engine for $30,000! They eventually did put a new engine in it but i feel it doesn't drive as well as it used to e.g the acceleration . We got the paint and interior protection plan with this car, the seats are stained and can't remove them, so the interior protection is rubbish. The clear coat protection however is good it adds an extra layer to protect the paint. . The interior near the gearbox, navigator and speedo scratches very easily. . The Kia accessories are really expensive As we drive a lot mainly highway ks we should have got something that will stay more in value as the more ks these cars have the less you will get for it when you decide to sell.

Exactly what we need
*I have only had this car two months*
So far I love it. With the last row of seats down there is plenty of room for my two big dogs (Great Dane) and still comfortably sit 5 people. With the back row up there is still good boot space for shopping, storage, etc.
I have come from driving a very small car and find this handles very well. It is very easy to drive. You don't feel like the car is going to fall over going around a corner. The rear camera and parking sensors help a lot if you are not confident reversing a big car.

of room in this car. The middle row slides forward/back so leg room is adjustable for the middle and back rows. We havent yet this car full of adults, but it seems it wouldn't be unreasonably squashy. Leather seats make for very easy cleaning, even with a baby. Speaking of babies, the car seat anchor point in the middlr row is on the back of the seat, not the floor, so you can still slide the seats forward. Sliding doors are big but open and close easily. 7 year warranty and 7 year roadside assistance (as long as you keep up with the servicing, which is only once a year and capped price - they showed us the pricing schedule before we bought the car) is fantastic as this is a car we are planning on keeping a long time.

Must have for a growing family !
"Spacious" is the word to describe this car. Lot of space even after you have all three rows in use. I can easily fit atleast 10 camping chairs, baby pram, esky, grocery bags, kids outdoor toys- scooters, footballs, cricket bats, still lot of space left.
All three rows can accommodate adults. Very comfortable to travel. Easy to get into the third row. Your kids will love this car. If you are looking for seven seater, try this car too before you make your mind. Most of the time, kids end up in third row, so ask them to try third row and share ...Read more

Fabulous car
Drives like a dream. Reverse camera, front and rear sensors. The electric doors and tailgate are rea,ly handy. We have 4 kids so need the space. Leather seats are great for keeping clean too.
Only negatives I can think of are that the radio doesn't display the name of the song playing, and that there are only 2 anchor points in the very back. One on the left and one in the middle. If there's only 2, it would be better on the left and right and leave the middle free.

Good deal
We are expanding our family and had been looking for different types of 7 seats car for nearly half year until we noticed Kia carnival. Good value. But not big fan of the outlook. But what I can expect for 7 seats car with good capacity. It's really easy for my elderly parent to get on and off it as it is good height

If you got a big family, this is your bus
Well, it's a ‘Bus’, I'm not going to talk about performance here, but the handling is pretty good considering the size of this car.
Just gone to oversea for a holiday, 4 adult + 2 kids + 9 piece 23KG luggage +6 carry on +3 hand bags.
sounds like mission impossible but he did it beautifully.
it's a platinum, so it got all the feature you expected. 360 bird view is the most important and really help feature.
Smart follow is great on the highway.
heated seat / cool seat make you it's a piece of luxury.
Like I said, if you got a big family, this is a must consider!

Best family car purchase!
This car is the most luxurious car I have ever driven in my life and I can't believe it is our brand new family vehicle. The platinum is worth every cent. There are so many features that I think it will take me a year to figure out how to use them. The best features are the powered side doors and tailgate. This car makes our family trips so much easier because it is so easy to get the kids in and out. There is also so much room and it is an absolute pleasure to drive. The dashboard camera is a life saviour. It gives you a top down 360 degree vi...Read more
ew which makes parking this beast a cinch! This is our first Kia purchase and I am so impressed. The diesel turbo has plenty of torque and is great off the start. Have only had it for a few weeks and love driving in it. Highly recommend this for families who need 4 child seats. We have 4 kids who are all under 6 and there is still plenty of room with all the kids in. Also having a 5 star safety ANCAP rating is what made our decision in the first place. Kia have done a great job and we can't recommend it enough.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best Family Car
I was reluctant to move from my usual European 7 seater 4WD to a people mover but I'm so glad I did. I cannot believe the space, comfort, features and price of this car compared to everything else on the market. The price was a bonus! We have three adult sized teens and regularly have extra adults/teens in the car and still have plenty of boot space. My only complaints are that as I have the platinum, I feel a couple of standard features are missing such as auto wipers and no "permanent" clock. I lose the clock on the screen when using other functions. Also Kia delivery and service departments aren't as polished as others I've used but I can live with that.

A people mover with style and functionality!
Kia have designed a really functional family vehicle and packaged it in a stylish body with a powerful engine.
I am honestly amazed at the power and comfort of this 2 tonne people mover. The diesel engine is smooth and quiet and is capable of surprising acceleration. The drive is very smooth and handling for such a large vehicle is great.
Outside the Kia Carnival looks really good. Unlike most people movers that just look like a “Van” this is an 8 seater with style. Even driving the Kia it doesn’t feel like you are driving a people move...Read more
r because it still feels like a car. We drove some other people movers like the VW Multivan that is a great car but feels like you are driving an industrial work van. The Kia is totally different. Kia has also been very smart with the interior features. Things a big family need have been thought about. Lots of cup holders and storage. Multiple USB points throughout. A MASSIVE boot. Tri zone Climate control. Electric everything. Big windows to look out. Flexible seating options and arrangements. Expandable boot. Even simple things like an extra rear view mirror built in to keep an eye on the kids in the back. Up front the driver has everything at their fingertips (literally). Steering wheel controls for all the important things and a dashboard with sat nav and DVD player.1 comment

So pleased with my purchase
I needed a vehicle with lots of carry space but also people carrying capacity. I researched and came to the conclusion that the Kia Carnival was the vehicle I needed to test drive, in a diesel for oomph. I was not disappointed - everything folds down to provide lots of space and I can also carry up to 8 people with the seats up - still plenty of leg room in the very back seats. Big boot when the seats are up. Plenty of grunt with the diesel. Comfortable to sit in and drive and a great easy to use dash. Required a bit of adjusting to the sheer ...Read more
size of the vehicle for parking, but I'm used to this at work driving small buses. In all I love this car. People Car of the Year to boot! All good, can't find any real faults, feels solid and safe, but it could do with more hand-holds for leverage getting in and out of the back.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

3rd KIA purchase. Great Product
I have owned the new Kia Carnival Platinum since sep 2015, done 47000kms. Nil faults. Still on original tyres but will soon need replacing. Only had one faulty rear air conditioner knob which was replaced under warranty. Don't like how middle side seats can't be removed like in older versions. Great fuel efficiency for large Diesel engine. Taken on return road trip to Queensland from south Nsw nil issues, great power, comfortable, great vision. All cameras and sensors work with out fault. 3rd KIA I have owned. Exe Ella the dealership customer service.

A Good Car but needs some improvement
I have had this car for two years now. This is the perfect car for my family and provides everything that I needed. Spacious, good seats arrangement, good on petrol and etc. We purchased the top range which comes with reversing camera and sensor. The reason why I give the car 3 stars is that we are still having continuous problem wi the accessories that came with the car when purchased.
1. Sliding door gets jammed for no reason, Kia changed the belt and no problem after that
2. Reversing camera, camera works occasionally when we put the car ...Read more

Clever and well thought out car
Kia designers really appear to have done their homework designing this car as the attention to detail is great - I.e. The visor mirror has an inbuilt LED, the centre storage bin also has an interior light and usb channel so you can charge your phone with excess cable going everywhere, and as you approach the car in the dark a little light comes on near the door handle and mirrors flip out. The inside is very classy with just the right amount of buttons - definitely a current gen car without seeming like you are piloting the space shuttle. Heate...Read more
d seats take a few minutes to warm up, the heated steering wheel is quicker - both are excellent in Canberra -5 morning. Driving is very stable with surprisingly minimal body roll or wind roll probably partly due to the electronic stability control software although I think the suspension damping can also take a lot of credit. Acceleration is sufficient - I had been worried about the 2.2L diesel taking on a 2 tonne plus car but fortunately the 8 speed transmission does a great job at keeping the revs in the right part of the torque curve at al times. Shifts are quiet and smooth. There is an eco button which in my experience just seems to make the throttle more spongy. Brakes are sufficient - not sharp like some cars but neither is it wooden. Layout is great - I regularly take 3 kids and 3-4 adults in an extended family setting. I do find that my preset seat setting does make egress in the second row around the kids seats a little tight but still ok. I tend to move the seat to my wife's preset when I put the kids in. The VW Caravelle has a bigger sliding door but I don't believe it is motorised like the Kia. In fact we are so grateful for the electric sliding and rear doors - it's worth paying the extra for these (SLI or Platinum model - we have the latter). The car has such a wide range of safety software - by far the most impressive is the 360 degree camera if you haven't had one to play with before. The forward warning alert and lane departure alerts have come in handy as well at times when kids/passengers have been distracting. This out specs Toyota Tarago on electronics and safety by a massive margin. The only people mover which tempted me was the Citroen Grand Picasso - an awesome car but alas didn't have sliding side doors which was a must for my wife (the Picasso can be had with massaging seats). Curious omissions are automatic wipers and autonomous braking particularly as they are available on other Kia SUVs. In my mind they are not showstoppers. The only other criticism is the fuel consumption - they quote 9L combined for the diesel but around Canberra with short interval city driving in light traffic I am finding it hovers around 11.2L. This will likely come down as the engine runs in. Haven't done any long highway drives but on some 80kmhr medium distance roads the consumption hovers about 10L.Similar opinion? Awesome MPV
Awesome car, LOTS of space and really comfortable. The interior in the SLI boasts premium and the V6 engine is frugal and torquey enough to lug the 2.1 tonnes weight of the car quite comfortably. Although our family is only 4 people, the extra real estate is worth every cent. We have also test driven the 2016 Odyssey VTI-L which was good in its own rights but no match for the Carnival SLI in almost every aspect. I firmly believe the new 3.3 petrol and 2.2 TDCI are highly reliable as they are Hyundai engines which has gone through a few generati...Read more
ons of changes and development. PROS: - Awesome space and comfort with almost car like driving manners. - Interior very cozy, and luxurious - V6 engine is smooth and handles the weight of the car quite easily. - Front sensors and rear sensors alongside rear view camera makes parking a lot easier. - Automatic sliding doors and tailgate makes loading stuff and/or kids very easy. - Kia's new design language reflects on the Carnival as well. - Oversized boots space with 3rd row down.Similar opinion? I've just past 30700 Kms and just got back from Darwin to Adelaide previous was Adelaide to W.A. return. Fuel economy OUTSTANDING on average 7.2 LITRES PER 100. Don't worry about overtaking the road trains because this engine is quick and really smooth acceleration. Brakes are EXCEPTIONAL. Steering is precise and feels great. Headlights are very bright and high beam has a long throw really good for highway use, on occasion i would have oncoming traffic flash me thinking my high beams were on but they weren't, i think all late model cars have th...Read more
e same drama MUST be the halogen globes they use MAYBE. Aircon works a TREAT we used it all the time in darwin NT on occasion kids would ask me to turn it off as they were FREEZING, SOOOO much room inside cabin for all our luggage and my 50 litre fridge freezer which sits nicely in rear so roomy and deep and 5 kids in the back, NOW if your kids love iPads and iPhones etc you will love this carnival HEAPS of charging ports front and back, Visibility is GREAT i can see out ALL windows no dramas PARKING is easy considering the size REAR camera helps BUT i park away from the majority only because its so WIDE I'm paranoid about other peoples door hitting mine one denting it KIA needs to put some sort of door protection on like a rubber strip My Only other gripe i have is slight road noise this is from the tyres, possibly if you look around you may find a set that are quieter, mine are original factory ones (my wife says I'm a idiot because it doesn't bother her) hahaha please send me a message if any questions and i would be ore than happy to help you CHEERS .... UPDATE as of JUNE 2018 one complaint I’ve found and is really annoying... keep an eye on the inside of your front tyres you will most likely find that it has worn to the point of bold on the inside only this is due to the camber and apparently can’t be rectified so you will most likely find yourself buying tyres more often not happy KIA..... UPDATE as of August 2018 ... Radio problems... and I’m not the only one so it seems Radio has decided to broke it’s self no reverse camera no maps no nothing .. NOW my problem is I live in a small community 1000kms from a Kia dealership but have a Toyota dealership in my township which I have my Kia Carnival serviced at which has been approved by Kia as my circumstances are I can’t travel 12 hrs on a corrugated dirt road ment for 4wd not a sedan if I did it would definitely ruin my carnival... SO here is my problem I sent Kia a email explaining my situation and my problem with the radio ... well guess what I get a email back 2 hrs later which is a good response time but what isn’t good is the reply all I got was CONTACT US that’s it .. well I would of thought a big company such as Kia could actually pick up the phone and call me .. SO I called explained again and ALL I GOT was we can’t help you unless you bring it in to a Kia dealership ... WELL Kia you CANT have the money I was going to spend on a NEW Kia Sportage I WILL give it to Toyota Considering my Kia warranty which I still have till 2021 is absolutely WORTHLESS.Similar opinion? Excellent vehicle desiel 2.2 auto carnival yp on my travels from Adelaide to Western Australia I actually got 6.9 litres per 100 kms and have pics to prove it .the comfort and ride is outstanding for a fully loaded van . Aircon is the best ever and the brakes well they are the best I've ever used they pull the carnival up no probs .dash layout is excellent and convenient .only reason I didn't give it a ten out of ten is because I will wait till I get back to Adelaide and if all goes as good as it did coming here I will give it a 10 out of 10

2015 New Carnival Si (diesel)
We purchased a 2015 Carnival Si (diesel) to replace a 2012 Honda Odyssey Luxury.
The Carnival has proved itself to be a great choice to date. We have passed 8000 kms so far.
The diesel motor provides effortless driving and is returning 8.2L/100km on highway cycle.
I really love the space inside the Carnival. There is heaps of room for passengers and luggage! We had a tow hitch fitted and now can carry our bicycles.
Pros:
- diesel motor mated to a smooth automatic transmission
- fuel economy
- space

1. GPS/Navi began to malfunction soon after purchase. To their credit, the dealership upgraded firmware; and subsequently replaced the head unit; but unfortunately it did not fix the problem. The next attempt will take at least 2 days in the workshop as electrical harnesses have to be tested and replaced as/if found faulty. This will necessitate removal of a lot of internal trim... I cannot afford to be without the vehicle for two days so this has been "on hold" for over six months. I've purchased a windscreen mount for my mobile telephone and am using Here maps in the interim. 2. Headlights offer surprisingly limited peripheral lighting. I only noticed this when driving through a local winding gorge road with numerous hairpins. You essentially turn blind into the dark as the headlights appear to have a very restricted spread. I have never experienced this in my previous vehicles (Honda, VW, MB, Toyota, Daihatsu). Lights are great for 90% of driving - just noticeable on tight, twisty roads. All up a great car. Fuel economy has averaged 9.8L after ~23K kms covered.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
