Heavy to drive, pedals too far to the right, sluggish performance on hills
Bought as a dealer demo car in 2017. It has less than 15000kms. It seems to be very "heavy" to drive, the front drivers seat does not raise high enough for short people, the pedals are to far to the right making leg position uncomfortable, as well as the brake and accelerator pedals being too close together. Wide turning circle makes parking very difficult. I don't drive it at night because the headlights don't seem to be angled well and most of the roads I drive on do not have street lights. I'll never buy another Kia as I explained all of thi...Read more
s at the last service and they told me there was nothing at all wrong. Gear shifts seem a bit off too. Private use only. I'll be privately selling once I have replaced the Kia Cerato. This car has put a dent in my driving confidence BIG time. I realise I'm vertically challenged, but can barely reach the pedals with seat at peak height and as far forward as possible. Mud flaps already damaged and torn off too.Purchased in November 2021 at Kia Dealers.

Great little car that is fuel efficient and has all the bells and whistles I’d want
Apart from buying it second new and later finding it smelling of smoke, the cerato has been great in terms of fuel efficiency and reliability. Also looks great. Kids call it the ‘shark car’ because it’s the same colour as a dark blue shark : )

So hott
Bought this car 2 weeks ago, it runs so smoothly and has an amazing interior and exterior. It's absolutely stunning. The steering is very smooth and fun to drive in. Very homely vibes. The only downside on the basic model is no reverse camera. Was made in 2016, so its expected to have a camera.

Large, well built, comfortable and very fuel efficient.
Purchased this as an ex fleet vehicle last week. 2016 model. The vehicle had only done about 51,000 k's when i picked it up but i only do about 9,000 a year. Private use only. It seemed to be pretty well looked after. First the transmission. I've never driven one of these before now, but i couldn't believe the seamless gear changes. You can barely feel them. It hasn't hunted for the right cog either. I was surprised just how much grunt the 112 kw donk has. No lack of it if you give it a bootful. The hatch has an incredible amount of space. tyres that are on it are ok, but I'll replace them with something better when the time comes. Road noise is minimal. The factory audio in this is very good and as yet, I've had no problems. Some people have stated that they are having issues with theirs. I haven't used the Cruise or Bluetooth yet so i can't comment on them. The digital and analogue speedo's both correspond with each other, so i'll have to presume that they are correct. The seats are comfortable but the passenger side sits a bit low. I would guess they are all like that in the base model. I took it for a run to Caboolture and back from Bracken Ridge yesterday and the trip meter just dropped down to 5 litres per 100 klm's or 20 kpl. That is approx 56 mpg on standard unleaded. 2,000 RPM in 6th at 100 kph. That's 900 RPM less than my old manual Fiesta in 5th at the same speed. Approx 7.2 kpl around town. All of these figures are better than my old 2013 Fiesta manual. That's exceptional for a bigger and more powerful car. Brakes are very good but i will have them independently checked to check the wear. Transmissions in these have no service time. Basically sealed for life, but i checked with Kia and they told me, only under very, very severe operating conditions does the fluid have to be replaced. Even states in the handbook, don't even worry about it if it looks a bit off colour. Some reports on YouTube show that flushing the system can even damage it, so i'll leave it alone. If it lasts the 7 year warranty period, i'm happy. Being an ex fleet it only has 150,000 klm warranty, but that's no problem. Everything works at the moment and at least i can turn that accursed traction control off on this. It's even got a temperature gauge. Electric power steering is well weighted and is not quite as direct as the old Fiesta, which means i'm not constantly over correcting like i was with the other one. Rear leg room is excellent. New Cerato's no longer have a full sized spare. Thankfully, this one does and a CD player. The spark plug intervals should be 60,000 and not 45,000 unless you want to put Iridium in. Servicing costs should be kept to a minimum being every 15,000klms. If you want to purchase your own parts, ebay can be a very useful tool, especially with filters. One final thing. I prefer to purchase an ex fleet vehicle with a few more klms on it. At 50,000, this suggests to me that the company has had no problems and that is why they've kept it a little longer. More later. Update:: After a while, i noticed a rattle around the hatch area. Do you think i could find it? Pulled everything out the back, twice. Still there. Checked back seats, even the number plate surround. Still there. So, i thought, i wonder. Shut the hatch and pushed the bottom of it up and down and i could hear a slight noise. Make no mistakes with weird noises from cars. Sound travels. Although i had a rough idea where it was coming from, it turned out it wasn't. Every time i went over a speed bump, creak creak. I guessed and it payed off. I saturated the hatch struts and the locking mechanism with CRC. I even tightened the rubber stops on the hatch lid. Shut the hatch, went 'round the back and gave it a couple of pushes and lo and behold, gone. Took it over the same speed bumps several times. Gone. It could have been any one of the above mentioned things, but i tend to think i jagged it. I put this up because i read somewhere that someone else had a rattle in the back they couldn't find. While i'm on it, the insurance on this is cheaper than my old 2013 Fiesta. I got an $18 refund when i transferred the policy. Approx $262 through NRMA. Also, thank god it's got a chain and not a belt. Edit:: I have had no problem with the Cruise control at any speed. Accurate to the nth degree. Edit::: My only real gripe is the passenger seat sits very low. I would think they'd all be the same.Purchased in October 2021.

My fourth Cerato
I have owned four of these and love them. Research showed best value for the money and a 7 year warranty. Very roomy in the rear for carrying lots and a very comfortable drive. SA dealership Reynella excellent, allowed me to trade in in Adelaide and pick up new vehicle in Queensland when I moved interstate. Eagers Kia Brisbane average. Car not as advertised ( they advertised it as 2018 and it turned out to be a 2017 model.) They failed to remove my name from registration in a timely manner so I received a speeding fine incurred by them two weeks after I traded in my old vehicle. Had to go to the trouble of finding a JP to prove it!!

The best first car.
Bought this car brand new and have had absolutely no issues with it. It does really well on premium petrol and lasts a full 2 weeks before I have to fill up again. However it chews through E10 ( which is standard for any vehicle I feel). Took it in for a first service a few weeks ago and they gave it a vacuum and a clean too. Couldn't be happier with buying this car, however will probably upgrade to another sportier version next year. Recommend this car for any one!

Great car but lacks guts
Beautiful to drive and economical on the highway. Fuel economy is worse than my corolla before it but not by much. Easy to clean interior and fold down armrest and cupholder in back seat. Doesn't skip a beat but definitely lacks power and needs to rev a lot to get up to speed and up hills.

Excellent vehicle and warranty
Very stable and reassuring to drive. It corners well with the right balance and understeer. The suspension tuning is spot on. I have Michelin Primacy 3 ST tyres which are great and extremely quiet.
The interior is roomy and very comfortable. The wheelbase is longer than the i30 and this makes it look more sleek. The reliability has been 100%. Very happy.

Lots of features for good price
This car has heaps of little features that most cars don't have these days.. e.g. front sensors, android auto/apple car play, reverse camera (with upgraded AV unit pack). For the price you pay, they are good features to have. My car was recently rammed by another car from the rear. The back crumpled. I was safe, but my car is waiting to be repaired by the insurer. Now that i have a rental car (Holden astra), i miss my kia cerato features. Sports mode is also fun. The car is quite zippy and economical on fuel.

Nice car but still not there yet!!
The vehicle is very comfortable albeit a little low for the elderly. It handles well but a little heavy up front. Tyre rotation is important if you want to get decent mileage from your tyres. I rotate every 5000 kms and that seems to work quite well. Noise level is good, rear view reversing camera is excellent but would have been good with a bit more tech eg GPS etc. The interior is clean well appointed. Recommend a dash mat, helps reduce the exposure of the moulded instrument panel. Exterior the colour (Pearl White) is great. Easy to keep clea...Read more
n. Mags would have made the exterior near perfect but they are optional. Design is good raises some eyebrows. Running costs are good with first service not due till 15000 kms. Economy is good on longer trips, not so good around town. The 7 year extended warranty is the best in town, but beware as I understand if you don't use a genuine Kia Dealer your warranty may be void. Check that out before you buy. Overall I am very happy with the car. It is versatile in the rear with fold down split seats. Plenty of luggage room but still with 3 seats. Worth noting that head room in the rear is higher in the hatch than in the sedan. Enjoy your Kia it is good value for around $20,000 drive away.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

VERY Good car
Driving is very good but not as responsive to my mazda3. The price was excellent but to achieve it I had to haggle with the salesperson. I don’t like that the basic model has no automatic window opener, finger needs to be on button continually for it to work. Also has no navigation but very happy overall. Petrol usage is very reasonable and very reliable car. Running costs are capped but not happy with the service dealer because of little space in waiting room, so I will be going to another dealer. Overall I am very happy with my KIA CERATO 6 SPD auto 5 door hatch, I recommend buying it.

Good little car with lots of space
I have been driving since May. So far I haven't had any problems. Compare with other similar size cars, the boot is more spacious, I put my baby's pram and still enought space for grocery bags. Also the boot is not high, good for mums with prams. And gotta love 7 year warranty!

Really great choice
I was in the market for a car. I thought about buying a second hand VW but after seeing some quite negative reviews online around their reliability and cost to repair I considered other models. I narrowed the selection to a Hyundai i30, Mazda 3 and Kia Cerato.
I went with the Kia Cerato because of the shape (had a bit of a European look to it), 7 year warranty, road side assist and fixed maintenance. I suspect the fixed maintenance schedule is in the dealership's favour but I don't know much about cars. I didn't like the 2017 i30 shape and ...Read more
the Mazda 3 was going to cost quite a bit more. I have had the care for nearly 9 months and so far everything has been great. It is enjoyable to drive. I would definitely recommend it to others.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

For a small car it has amazing room in the front driver and passenger area.
Having driven Toyota Aurion's as company cars for the past 12 years when I was on the road as a full time sales representative, I am now more office bound in management and don't need a big car. My boss bought me a Kia Cerato five months ago. When I first saw it from the outside, I wondered how I was going to fit my 195cm frame into it. Was I ever surprised when I got into it. This car has as much room in the front driver and passenger area as the Aurion. The back seating area and boot area are considerably smaller but I don't have to sit in th...Read more
e back seats and the boot is big enough for my needs. The handling is very good, automatic transmission is smooth and the instruments are excellent. One of the issue I have with it is the cruise control which, when operational, slows down on slight rises and speeds up too much when going down hill. The Toyota's cruise control is much better at keeping to the set speed. The other issue I have, which the Kia service manager advised cannot be changed, is that the air conditioner is always on when I first start the car. Great in summer but not needed in winter. I should choose when the air conditioner is switched on. Apart from those two issues I am very happy with the Cerato.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Liked it so much, we bought 2 more!
We compared the Cerato with the Mazda3 and Hyundai i30. The Cerato won hands down on value for money, front and rear space, features, warranty, pretty much everything.
We went for the 6 speed manual which is a smooth and well geared transmission. Fuel economy is outstanding, and it has a great turning circle. We liked the fact that even the base S has front and rear parking sensors and is easy to park.
Audio is great and the bluetooth phone is clear at both ends of the call.
Fixed price servicing for 7 years means we can budget ahead for the...Read more

Rough idle/engine noise
Have had my Kia cerato 1.8 auto for just over a year with 26,000Kms on the clock. It's been a fantastic little car for the money but has developed a rough idle at times and fairly loud engine noise when cold(Perhaps Tappets/timing chain).Yet to be determined by dealer.Im happy with the way it drives, how roomy it is and the fuel economy I get(Around 7.4 mixed driving). It seams the noise is a common issue with this car?Other than the engine issues I can't fault the car for the money $17,000.The warranty appeals to me also.

I just love this car
I love this car, it is perfect for someone like me who is retired and needs a reliable vehicle. It is fuel efficient, quiet and easy to drive. There is plenty of leg room, both front and rear seats. The air conditioning is good. The boot is very easy to load and unload shopping, in other words it is perfect.
