Like a supermodel. Nice to look at but not always practical
I've always wanted one of these so saved up for ages. Given the HUGE expense compared to other mixers I presumed it would blow my socks off however in reality I've been very underwhelmed. For starters I was shocked at how heavy it is so taking it in and out of cupboards is heavy work. Secondly the up/down beater head function is on one side and the speed button on the other side rather than both easy access on one side only which needs to be considered when prepping. Thirdly the bowl is supposed to twist into place however again this took real ...Read more
muscle power and wasn't as easy as it should be. Fourthly I noticed there was cake mix on the side of the bowl AND in the bottom of the bowl which meant I had to stop mixing and scrape down the bowl to ensure thorough mixing so the mixer attachment isn't that thorough. The machine itself looks absolutely gorgeous mine is empire red and sure looks regal however if you are disabled or infirm and don't have much muscle strength forget it - it's like lifting a tank. In summary it's not worth the big bucks IMO - the marketing and look of it hooked me in. A prime example of try before you buy if you can.

Best Machine
I think its one of the best machine it been a year now that i bought the machine from www.catchthedeal.com.au (Catch the deal) with the great deal plus bonus attachments in such a low price the machine works much better than the other cheap one it's a one time investment but such a relief works smoothly with no much noise, i mainly use it for the dough.. i saved my money specially for this and its worth it for the price $630 with slicer and shredder......SO HAPPY with the purchase. Thanks for the deal guys.

Love my mixer!
I use my mixer at least 4 times a week. I find the bowls ( I have the glass and the metal) are a great size. The bowl scraper attachment is great. The motor runs smoothly even after 10 minutes of kneading brioche dough. I would be lost without it. Have had it for nearly 5 years now and it is still like new.

Great machine
I have had this mixer for five years. I have a number of attachments including pasta maker, pasta extruded, grain mill, ice cream maker, sausage maker, mincer, fruit juicer, and so on.
Frankly it is used all the time and performs superbly. The funny thing is that a daughter bought one and I suggested there were better mixers on the market. I was wrong.
The motor is strong enough for pretty well all domestic use. The size of the bowl is adequate. The attachments are all used and save a lot of time.
I highly recommend this machine

Love my KitchenAid stand mixer!
I bought my stand mixer almost 2 years ago and love it. It came with various beaters, whisks, hooks and an ice cream maker. Apart from using it for making the usual baking/dough mixes, I use it for making fresh pasta with the pasta press and roller attachments that I bought separately. I have also recently bought the food processor attachment, which can shred, slice, dice and julienne in no time. I’ve also bought the grinder and sausage attachments but have yet to try them. All in all, a very versatile machine with a powerful motor. It does get...Read more
hot, as you would expect, but I’ve made 2 batches of pasta back to back without any trouble. There is a bit of movement when kneading firm dough, which alarmed me the first time it happened but nothing untoward happened and I’m careful with my dough mixes now. The stand and attachments are pricey but, to me, seem like a good investment as they are well made and deliver every time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great for everything / okay for baking
Great machine, seems sturdy and well put together. It works amazing for everything pastry related.
However when it comes to dough, and more specifically dough with high hydration level, then it's not the best.
The 'hook' used for kneading works well only with normal hydration dough.
A better choice would be to get the pro or commercial which I think have a 'spiral' instead of a 'hook' which is much better for kneading.
Apart from that it's been a great machine so far.

Not convinced of longevity and sturdiness
I recently bought a brand new KSM150 to make bread regularly and was under the impression this was fit for purpose. I also purchased the matching glass bowl & spiraliser attachment. However after a few batches I am skeptical of the longevity of the product, the mixer head shakes and moves while kneading dough, the glass bowl is very hard to fit and screw to the mixer compared to the stainless bowl and the ring on the bottom of the glass bowl is almost impossible to remove once it's been screwed on then lock in stand mixer.

Bad customer service with no return policy
Horrible, arrogant company that does not allow you to return their product under any circumstance to the store you bought it from. A consumer needs better security when buying a product, we need to know we can return it if we're not happy with it. The mixer looks great and has a solid motor, but things break on it just like many of the cheaper models from other brands. It's not at all worth the high price tag. Go with a kenwood or sunbeam, they are starting to make some better quality models.
i also purchased one of their food processors and it was a piece of garbage. It did a terrible job of slicing things. Luckily Myers was kind enough to give me a store credit.

Expats - be aware - there is no global warranty
I purchased this when I lived as an expat in Germany. On returning to Australia, half way through the warranty time frame, there was motor problems. However, KitchenAid refused to honour its warranty.
For the record, the power in Germany is 220V, the exact same as in Australia.
My advice to expats? Be aware that there is "NO global Warranty". I would just buy a local brand for far cheaper.
KitchenAid apparently does not value its customers nor are they in tune with present day changing lifestyles whereby so many people travel and live overseas for work.

It’s perfect kitchen Aid for your kitchen!
Love my new empire red artisan mixer! My Kitchen Aid came in perfect order. Love the Empire Red color & matches my colors in my kitchen. Even though I have only had it for a short time. I made 5 different types of cakes, soda bread, cookies, cinnamon rolls & my honey oat bread & my wheat bread. That mixer mixed everything up just fine. It was great to not have to knead so much by hand the breads. I also added on a glass mixing bowl w/cover, scraper paddle & the red quilted cover. We love it!!
I bought this machine from Amazon, it is a lot cheaper. However I have to buy a converter to get it working as it was US standard. Lol

My favourite appliance EVER!!!
I have had my KitchenAid Raspberry Ice mixer for 2 years now and I LOVE it!!! This mixer is a real work horse and mixes everything from light fluffy meringues to heavy bread and scone doughs with ease. I love how fast it whips up meringues....my old mixer took forever. I also love how fluffy my cakes are using this mixer. Highly recommend!

Great Machine, getting better with age!
I've had my KSM150 for over 5 years now, and have found it to be a great machine if a little pricey at first. I also got the 3 piece pasta roller attachment as well, which has been great with making fresh egg pasta. My wife uses it weekly to batch up cookie and cake mixes as well as dough. The machine still looks as good as the day we got it and has not misses a beat. If you can get over the initial price, this is a solid unit, when comparing it to other mixers out there, and this will last a lifetime of use, with maybe a brush set change down the track.

The Best Mixer
I have had my Kitchenaid stand mixer for a few years now and its fabulous it never misses a beat. We recently had a kitchen renovation done and my mixed got put away on its side while the reno was taking place, you can imagine my horror when I went to get it out and there was oil leaking out of it. Anyway we found our local Kitchenaid repairer and for approx. $70 they regreased the mixer and its now as good as new. If there was one criticism and its not a fault but I find in winter its hard to cream butter in the stainless steel bowl. Mine is Empire Red.

We love this mixer
We bought this mixer in 2013, and it still performs like a treat. My husband regularly uses it to knead pizza and pasta dough, and it has the grunt to chug away kneading a reasonable quantity of dough for at least five minutes. I use it to make cakes, and it works well. You do need to scrape the side of the bowl occasionally but I have not operated a mixer that did not require this. Whipping egg whites or cream is easy. We bought the mixer with a large and small steel bowl, and it came with whisk, dough hook and normal beater.

After a false start seems like a good solid mixer
I did some reaseach on what mixer to get and narrowed it down to kenwwod and kitchenaid. I chose the kitchen aid ksm150 in cinnamon colour mixer because I new it would live on the bench so had to look asthetically pleasing to my wife (and match the kitchen as well). The main reason for replacing was the amount of cooking we do coming into Christmas and Easter it is all most commercial quantities and our old sunbeam of 11 years blew up. So decided to invest in a better quality mixer. I was leaning towards the kenwood for reviews and motor size ...Read more
were excellent. But chose to go with kitchen aid thinking there is more metal in it so would last longer and be more reliable. I used once to make a cake then stored it away for 3 months. then my wife used it to make shortbread and it started screeching and snd making a terrrible noise we had 10 batches of short bread to make and the mixer was broken. we had to revert to her mothers relaibe if not noisey breville mixer, which was terribly inconveinient and made the purchase doubt full. I had to contact kitchen aid and the customer service was excellent she had me at ease straight away and concerns and isuues were listen too nothing was a problem I even got a beater replaced that arrived in the original purchase faulty, This is very rear these days. Once the service agent replaced the gear box which sounds like a common fault, that was deduced as the problem before he turned it on. once replaced we have had no problem with the mixer and works to the standard I expected. does a great job big or small the scraper edge beater works well bought as an extra and the mixer beats and whisks to perfection. We made the best pavlova meringue we have made in the last 4 years of making them and I know thats due to the beater its self. Very pricey but you get the level of service you expect when frustrated and annoyed at the mixer letting you down at the critcal time. Repair time took a while but was worth the wait. The main thing is the wife thinks it looks good on the bench and matches our kithchen perfectly.1 comment

It should be excellent for the price
Yes, I am always scraping the sides also and there is that groove in the base of the bowl where the ingredients often gather and stick, requiring me to really dig and the slide the spatula in to clear it. I miss the way the old kenwood's beater used to move around the bowl I have realised now how that is a fundamental requirement for superior beating. I wish this one did that. I bought it on the assumption that at this price and with all the hype, it must be a superior product. I was wrong. .

Hi Terri, It would be worth checking your beater to bowl clearance, you can find this in your instruction manual. We also have a flex edge beater which assists in scraping the bowl for you! Kind Regards, The KitchenAid Team

Wish I had done my homework
I bake a lot and am constantly turning the machine off to scrape the sides down - even with the silicone scraper I paid more money for. Ingredients splatter all over the place even with the cover on. The beaters do not touch the bottom of the bowl and ingredients are not mixed. My mum uses a Kenwood and I should gone with that brand. Nothing but glossy hype. Very disappointed.

Aarti C.asked
Hi. I have a ksm150. I was planning on buying an extra bowl for it. I Am getting a 4.7 ltr bowl at a shop near me but wasn't sure it will fit as I suppose ksm150 has a 4.8ltr bowl. Let me know if that is ok or which one to buy
2 answers
Whether or not the bowl will fit has more to do with how it locks into the machine than anything else. The size of the bowl won't make much difference. However ensure the bowl is made specially for use with kitchenaids as they need a particular diameter and shape in other for the beater action to be effective, and they have a lock in mechanism that is different in manufacture than most other brands. A universal one may not work.
Thuy B.KitchenAid
Hi Aarti, we recommend purhasing the 4.8L stainless steel bowl for the KSM150. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
