No lint filter; not ideal
The open design of the wash-tub (it has no central agitator/ pole) seems to make it easier for items to twist together, or at least that's what I think. It seems to help to wash big things together or small things together and to not mix sizes of items up too much. However, the wash quality is pretty good and it is easy enough to use - press for 'on' and then press the start button. If you want, you can select the type of wash after turning on and then press start. The machine adapts to the size of wash loaded and has a big capacity. I was...Read more
not happy to discover that it has no filter (poor research) and so needs a full run when empty to flush out the lint after each 30 or so washes. That's a lot of wasted water in my opinion. I tend to agree with other reviews posted here but it's not a bad machine overall.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Awesome
Great machine. Paid $578 on sale and it is a bargain. Don't think my clothes have ever been so clean. It is quiet and has a huge amount functionality. I prefer to just set and forget with the 'Fuzzy' function which weighs the load and then goes about its wash cycle - but the amount of cycle options is endless.

Fantastic machine, very quiet
It is a well balanced machine, it is very quiet and washes clothes very gently. I love that it does not have the agitator int he middle and also has many programmed settings suitable for all washing types and cycles. Can fit a great load of washing at one time, highly recommended for a 4-5 person family.

Lint machine
It says 'filter free' on the machine. The sales pitch is that you don't need to clean the filter. The reality is that your next load of washing is the filter for the previous load!! For instance, on the weekend I washed towels (orange colour - this is important). A couple of days later I washed some work clothes - black pants, shirts etc. The pants were covered in orange lint... and there was nothing remotely orange in the load with the pants. Called LG - response - you need to run the tub clean... Ah ha, every time I finish washing towel...Read more
s, I should follow this up with a 3 hour tub clean cycle. That makes sense!! Washed a heavy cotton (cream) bathrobe on its own and it was covered in dark lint. I think the machine stores the lint, then detects what colour clothing you are washing and spits out the exact opposite colour of lint just to create as big a mess as possible. It also has 'ultra' spin speed - but this leaves heavy items, e.g. towels, bathmats, quite wet and hard to dry in winter - certainly too wet for tumble drying. Also, very, very slow and clunky... a full 'cotton wash' can take over 90 minutes. I know that that's how long a front loader would take, but at least a front loader would do a good job of the washing. Getting rid of this stupid machine - Asko here I come!Similar opinion? Very happy with this machine
Had the Fisher and Paykel top loader for over 10 years. Did very well. For the price, this machine does all it is asked, quite and washes well. Not sure why people are complaining about lint - no problem here. Seems to be a bit more economical as well and does not crunch up the clothes.

Furious, wish I had read some reviews before purchasing this machine.
There is no lint filter and when washing large items e.g.sheets, they come out covered in brown sediment. White sheets have brown streaks all over them and black sheets are covered in white streaks. Wash cycle is far too long and the depth if the drum is so deep you almost end up on your head retrieving small items.

Don't waste your money!
There is no filter so clothing is covered in lint, and the clothes wash unevenly. Nothing works - less detergent, more detergent; less water, more water etc. etc.
For 30+ years we had Simpson machines and they were faultless. We were persuaded to LG by the staff at Harvey Norman (good marketing!). This is an expensive machine which doesn't do the job.

Unimpressed, lint bomb
We upgraded to this machine after using an old Fisher and Paykel for many, many years. What a disappointment to learn that our brand new washing machine leaves clothes dirtier than the old one! The problem is, like so many other commenters have suggested, LINT. After a few washes, it accumulates in the machine and covers EVERYTHING. We've had to stock up on lint brushes and rollers just to keep our clothes clean. Black clothes come out looking white!
The particular model we have, the WTG8532WH (8.5kg), does not have a lint filter. There is ...Read more
nothing in the instructions manual about cleaning build ups of lint - the cleaning cycle only removes scrud, and actually instructs to remove the lint from the machine before performing the cycle (how??). We've tried hot washes, liquid detergent, higher water levels to no avail. I regret buying this machine and would advise anyone against it. PROS: - Clear lid so you can see wash - Sooooort of programmable but seems to have a mind of its own and snaps back to its own programs if you play around too much with the settings - No tower thing in the middle so clothes don't get caught on it - Does seem to wash away dirt and other stainsSimilar opinion? Would not recommend
Very disappointing, poor quality wash, Clothes & Linen come out dirtier than they go in. Read instruction, checked detergent levels & used quality products but end results are poor, Clothes also come out in one big tangle! 35 Years experience washing for a large family never had this experience. After sales support from LG & supplier goes with the quality of wash. POOR.

Very disappointed
My last washing machine was damaged with a large screw and because it was an insurance job it was replaced with the same or next generation of that model. Can't remember the model number but was a LG 8KG very smart machine, and I loved it. The new machine has an on board water heater which was basically the only new feature.
Problems: When I put the soap powder in the dispenser it is dispensed and a small amount of water runs into the tub and then it does this spin thing. The washing powder sits on the cloths like glue as the cloths had be...Read more

Great Machine
Had the machine for 3 months now no problem so far, purchased this washer to replace my 10 year old washer that had given up.Was hesitant buying LG however a friend of mine has an LG washes everyday for a family of 5 never had a problem so I bought it. Very happy the way the clothes come from the machine they seem to be a lot cleaner than my previous machine.
My only complaint is the drum on this machine is deep and I have trouble getting the washing from the bottom, I have back problems but this is the only issue I have
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this machine

Life's good with this machine
Purchased this machine 6 months ago and have had no problems with it. It's easy to use, washes the clothes well without being harsh on them and you hardly know that it is going from a noise perspective. When purchased there was a promotional money back offer, this was easy to complete and they sent a gift card to me as promised. Pleasure to do business with this manufacturer and supplier.

would not recommend this washing machine
Does not clean as well as old washing machine
Water levels appear to be hit and miss
Control panel is too sensitive
No lint filter but is supposed to clear lint though rinse cycle which is not effective
Wash cycle times seem overly long
This is the worst washing macine i have ever purchased and would take it back for a refund if i could. Extremely disappointed to say the least.

Sturdy Workhorse
Our machine has washed extremely dirty clothes from when my wife worked on the farm. The mud & gunk came out every time so after each onslaught had to clean the filters (which was easy) and wash the tub ready for Normal Clothes. Its easy to use just set on fuzzy and check cold, warm or Hot wash and adjust water levels to conserve water.

Great Machine - But
Having purchased this new washing machine because we have just built a new house in September 2016. Great machine though I tend to override the water level because sometimes its either too much or not enough water used. Washes the clothes well.
The only issue I have with it - is that the lint trap is at the back of the machine!!! Obviously the people who designed this were men!!!! who do not do their own washing!!! Who is in right mind would put a tint trap at the back of a washing machine. So every time I finish washing I need to wait f...Read more

Good product
Have had this one for a month now and it goes very well. It replaced a German-made front loader that we had for about 9 years before it died. Salesman said 9 years is about as much as you get out of a washing machine these days. I'm hoping to get a good life out of this one. The 8.5kg drum has no agitator, but washes just fine. The bonus is that it is much easier to get bedspreads and other bulky items in and out. For those who are hillbillies like us you will need to fit some snake mesh underneath it to keep vermin and slithering nasties out of the underside.

Top loading and top washing machine
Replacing a 25 year old machine was a challenge but now very happy with result following online research and input by retailer. A bit hesitant initially about not having an 'agitator' like the old machine but wash and spin results are excellent. Much quieter than the old machine. Used to use powder in the old machine but now only use liquid detergent in the LG to avoid build up of gunk (if that is the correct word).
Have never had a 'see through lid' but this is a great feature.
The array of buttons on the control panel looks complex but aft...Read more

Hi we have the LG WTG8532WH machine, the amount of lint on our washing is ridiculous, this is the worst washing machine we have bought, we have cleaned the inlet filters and the lower drain plug filter, which is being done weekly, we do the tub clean monthly but nothing is working, we are still getting lint on our washing, the washing machine has on it filter free symbol, how do clean this washing machine out and stop the lint covering our washing, not a happy LG customer, maybe consumer affairs can help us as the washing machine isn’t performing correctly, NOT HAPPY LG IN YOUR PRODUCT

Looks like alot of people with this 8.5kg model are reporting a lint problem. I guess it is not scrud (which is caused by soap powder build up with cold washes). Scrud can get on clothes. I always warm wash to prevent scrud. If it is lint then I guess if the machine is not working in this dept. Only way is to wash lint type items together e.g. towels and other items separately. I have had a terrible run with several LG WTG7532W (7.5kg). No lint problem but repeat DE faults on lid caused by either the magnets or hinges. No help at all from LG. call centre.. They do not care about their customers or faulty products at all.
