Great value for money
For around $150, there is no other 4 inch belt sander on the market in this price range that can touch this if your using 60 grit or finer.
I have this connected to an el-cheapo Karcher vac and get near zero dust.
No pressure required. The weight of this beast does all the hard work for you.
The cord could be longer but 9 times out of 10 and extension lead is required regardless.
Never needed variable speed on a belt sander so no issue for me not having it.
2 year warranty.
Buy one. you won't regret it

Beast of a belt sander
Cant believe what i have been able to do with this machine. For the price i thought it might get me through 1 job.... But 245m2 later of full deck sand backs ( very hard on machine). Its still going strong. It heavy, cant sand to edge but bang for buck....flipping great.
Purchased in March 2021 for A$135.00.

Part Quality Control. Much Corporate nonsense. And it's still on the market - not discontinued.

The Makita M9400MG is actually better than the AEG HBS1000E, only used the AEG Belt twice and the motor to belt drive broke, it shredded in the belt housing which caused the AEG belt sanding to stop operating as it should be.
Makita MG9400 is better build and it way it is designed to do is belt sanding.

Great belt Sander.
This is a basic model. However is strong and well built. Will stand up to a lot of hard work. I turned mine into a 'Portable Bench Top Belt Sander', a la YouTube. Well worth the money and should last for years. There are cheaper models around. However I've been caught too often with cheap tools. Cheap aint cheap.

Totally satisfied
So far I have sanded 10 square metres of clear coated floorboards back to bare timber. The sander was easy to use, performed well and did a great job on the floor.

I want to sand a pine table top, it's pretty dinged and has a few coats of varnish on it. Think it needs a few mm taken off the top. Would the M9400G be the best for that. It won't get a lot of use after this project so not wanting to spend a lot. Thanks

look up some vids on how to fill dings in pine

AND you could always make a BIG sander, by gluing some unwaxed really coarse abrasive belting onto a big piece of 90 x 45 furniture grade pine make some handles.. make up some paint stripper with a strong sodium hydroxide solution and add a little watered down flour to thicken it while hot. join a mens shed and use some big wood bench planes, or make one yourself..... FROM wood... AND how much is the table actually worth.
AND is it genuinely necessary to sand back quite a lot of wood, just to fill a few dings?
I'd be more inclined to wipe it over with some NEW cheap motor oil diluted to about 1 part oil to 1 or 2 parts turpentine, and then let it soak in over night, wipe off the excess and be done with it.
Thanks for that I should have added I'm a 70 year old woman and once exceedingly handy have wrecked my hands. The table is 2 x 1 mts and apart from it being knocked around I need to change the colour to a light shade which is why I want to belt sand it. Minimum hand sanding and I'll paint the rest it's only the top I am concerned about.
Yes, I think the Makita would certainly do the job.

Yes you can turn into Portable Benchtop Belt sander, and very handy to have in the workshop. In the workshop should have safety comes first when using a powertool in the workshop.
