A huge improvement over the previous one.
I bought a Makita Orbital Sander about 35 years ago; when I finished the job, I took it outside, and smashed it with a sledge hammer. It was a most frustrating tool, and that simply because paper would waltz off the sander as soon as it was put on. I prefolded paper, did all I could, and all to no avail. When I needed another sander, I looked around and found that (a) Makita had changed the paper clamp, and (b) no other sander had any better method of clamping - so, I took a chance on Makita again - and I’m glad I did. Does what it says!
I bought the Sander from Bunnings, $88 I believe. Makita hasn't let me down with any of there other products even the cheaper ones, and this Sander hasn't either.
Used for mainly for small furniture so far it has done what it set out to do. No special lights, speed changes or randomness to its operation. Just sanding.
Dust extraction is better than nothing, but I don't recommend using it in the house! Still use a mask and goggles, no point risking it and you will still get some dust going in the air.

and switching paper is really easy. The paper they give you is soon turned into confetti so I would recommend getting at least a small range of papers when you buy it or soon after. Vibration is kept to a minimum and can be used with one hand no worries. Nice and light.1 comment
