OK
I don't think that there's an ideal blower/vac available yet. I tested 2-strokes 'cos they can be pigs to start and fuel, and have too much noise & vibration. Electric are out because of noise, the lead and flimsy construction (at least all that I've seen).
An ideal unit would have a 4 stroke motor, quick and easy changeover and an effective head unit. This is probably the best available, but it is far from ideal.
Does what it should, easy to start and maintain, top brand, reasonably light, very quiet.
Only 0.08 litre oil - make sure you change...Read more

$330 delivered very good price but we are still pay too much when comparing with US market.
I just bought it today and not very happy with the product.
Much better than my electric GMC. Paid $330 delivered online, in US is selling only $199 on Amazone website but no vaccum. And in our bunning store, it is $399.
Easy to start but much be careful when pulling the cord to start as it is also easy to get engine flooded.Must pull the cord fast.
The vaccum bag is not very good quality, dust get out everywhere.
Not recommend this blower to older person as it is quite hard to change from blower to vaccum. All the tubes are very tight an...Read more

Easy to start, very quiet, stress free blower
I bought this on special from Sydney tools for $289 after returning the homelite blowervac. This unit starts with the first pull everytime. No hassles in mixing the fuel as this is a 4stroke motor. It is very well designed with ergonomic handle and its weight is distributed very well.
Blower is very powerful and the nozzle attachments fits tightly and does not fall off while blowing.
I definitely recommend this to anyone for the ease of operation and hassle free maintenance.
easy to start, fuel efecient, quiet, powerful
nothing so far..

Perfect Blower MAKITA BHX2500
Excellent Blower, the Makita BHX2500 is rugged, reliable easy to start first cord pull starts it every-time. No noisy smoky 2 stroke oil mixing.
Outstanding performance even better grass clipping cleanup off concrete when wet i.e. raining. Haven't used the vacuum attachment yet as it is only really designed for dust and light duty leaves. It can feel a little heavy after a whole day's use. The cruise control switch is a brilliant feature. Brilliant blower nozzle design allows for greater control of the blown air when sweeping confined areas li...Read more

Good
I would buy one again, quiet and seems reliable so far (10 hours on it.) Good value for money, mine has a minor oil leak but way better than the old two stroke.
Easy to start, seems reliable and works well.
Poor ergomics, you need to stoop down in order to make contact with ground when used as vac.

It's a great time saver.
I blow many gumleaves down a driveway, it cleans up quickly and is a huge time saver rather than sweeping.
It's fast work

Excellent
Quiet, powerful, no mixing oil, no chance of seizing motor due to not using oil (which is what happened to my Sthill), $380 - almost $200 cheaper than Honda and that is without shopping around. So far very happy.

Excellent
lightweight, reliable, quiet, easy to start 4 stroke engine, no need to mix petrol with oil; you should use a good quality motor oil ( the sump is 0.8 litre only and change every 10 hours. Makita recommends SAE 10-30 W SF but I am using Mobil 1 0-40 W fully synthetic oil.
engine starts every time you pull out the cord. very quiet engine
not the best vacuum but more than the adequate blower

Excellent
I bought this blower 4 months ago and still amzed by the ease of start, the cord is so light and the engine starts every time, much easier than the Honda mower, and mind you, the Honda is one of the best mower, engine wise. It is also light, well balanced and quiet, quieter than the Stilh. I would not hesitate to recommend this blower to home owners, even to pro gardeners.
Nicely made, looks smart, extremely easy to start and very well priced even Made in Japan.

Is it possible to use use on it's side?Ie tilted towards intake tube...One site in usa says it's ok ...Won't hurt motor .

Don't believe that it will cause damage and the blower will turn off and smoke I did it once and never again with line trimmer you can turn to it's side like honda stihl eco but not cheaper one the blower is not designed to tilt to it's side
Yea, I wouldn't as the Oil will run into the engine too quickly and hence cause the smoke.

has anyone used 15w-40 oil in the makita 4 stroke blower?
1 answer
Yes, I used this on my last service and it's running without any problems. Just as smooth as it is normally. The main thing to remember with oils is the temperature you're running the equipment in. Unless you're working in close to sub-zero temperatures there's not much to worry about with choosing a mix of oil to add to small engines. Especially with the variety of semi-synthetic oils such as 15w-40.
