Buy something else...
Bought mine 18months ago and use it mainly for ripping stock down now, mainly hardwood which it handles well power wise. Tried making a few cabinets with it but the extension wing doesn't line up properly so the fence is way out of square. You can see where I'm going with this... There doesn't seem to be anyway to align it so you can get square cuts out of it.

Race to the bottom
I bought a MLT100 beginning of March 2015 after my Dewalt DW744 burnt out ripping some slightly wet landscape timber. I am retired and only need a saw for DIY use so thought this Makita would be a good replacement, was I wrong? After I assembled the stand and got the saw set up I realised this was not good enough for me to make furniture on. I soon found the table was not flat and varied front to back, making 90 degree cuts was neigh impossible. Every time I tried to use the sliding table I had to use a framing square to set the mitre fence to ...Read more
the blade, the play in the mitre slots are terrible. The rip fence is flimsy and too short, setting it on the table extension is totally inaccurate. I sold the saw this week and cut my losses, the buyer said looks great like new, I said I did use it much so a waste for me to have it. Now I have bought a 60 year old New Zealand made Tanner brand table saw and renovated it, it much better than the Makita. In my opinion Makita is not competing with Bosch or Dewalt with this saw but in a race to the bottom with other cheap Chinese and Taiwanese brand sawsSimilar opinion? Buyer Beware - Dangerous - Chinese Made, Poor Quality!
I have always been one to read reviews before buying a certain product and then make my own decision at the store. But after purchasing this table saw, I can personally tell you that if these sites say the product is no good,,,, please listen to them.
This table saw is dangerous!.
I purchased one from my local bunnings store and after setting it up and making a few cuts I totally regret it.
The fence locking mechanism is the most dangerous of all the problems I have found. It does not lock properly. I was ripping a piece of wood and the fen...Read more

get the upgrade this is not good
The fence travels, you can't cut straight with it, the thing moves when you tighten it, it's not a very well thought out machine. I'll be taking this back and buying the better version

Better off at Aldi
This is a very shoddy machine, verging on dangerous.
The throat plate is so thin the work piece can be pushed down beside the blade. Mine was broken in three places when I bought it.
The fence is weak.
The mitre gauge is so sloppy in its slots that it's useless.
The lock on the mitre adjustment throws the adjustment out by several degrees when you tighten it.
Save up and buy a proper one - this one is rubbish.
Another example of a company using its good reputation to sell junk. Makita's reputation has taken a nosedive for me.
It's cheap - in all ways.

I purchased a MLT100 09 July 2022 from Mitre Ten Ferrymead Branch in Christchurch New Zealand.
I own quite a few Makita Tools.
Then the saw stopped working. Phoned Mitre Ten advised me to bring it in and of to the service center should be back in a week or so.
Explained this is my work noone can not have a tool for over one week.
Made a check and thought may have been the cord so shorted it to no avail. Big mistake they properly going to tell me the warranty not valid anymore.
Finally took direct to service center as Mitre Ten told me they turn tools around in 24 hours.
Service center says not so, may be fixed this week but not sure.
Meantime I cant do any work.
Any advise for me ?

I had the same problem but with metabo. I make furniture for a living and I was without my saw for over a month only to get it back not fixed properly the blade was 3mm out . So I took it back and told them I wasnt leaving until it was fixed and I stood in the repair centre and they fixed it within half hour .

Loosen two hex drive screws and parallel fence to blade by measuring at front of blade to fence and back of blade to fence. If these measurements are the same, you're in business. You can also try lining up fence with mitre track but blade parralleness is more important
loosen two hex drive screws. where are they located

I was about to purchase one of these this morning until I accidentally read the reviews. I was very disappointed as 95% were brutal. This was a surprise considering I own quite a few Makita products as a home-handyman, and have been quite happy with the quality. However this collection of negative, but painfully honest reviews has me confused. It certainly isn't a cheap saw and I wonder if the name "Makita" isn't being falsely traded on. I will happily agree that Chinese and Taiwanese produced products are generally junk.....unless it is food!
