Being Brushed off
Market Direct Campers VICWe had an issue with leaking, water even got into the battery area, mould and rust. Took photo's followed the warranty process online. MDC called, and said that they were going to build a brand new camper as they believed it was only going to get worse. Extremely happy, I wasn't expecting that, I thought maybe replace the canvas and the battery etc. So was over the moon. Then we picked it up below is a copy of what we later put a claim in for.
We bought a brand new camper January last year, we put a claim in as there was a leak and when we o

When we picked up the camper we got the impression it wasn’t brand new and queried it. As the checker plate in the groves near the toolbox had a built up of dust that was more than a few months old. The camper wasn’t shinny clean like the other new one on the show room floor and the one we first picked up. There was rust where the camper folds out all ready. We asked about the extra spreader poles we paid for, the inverter is only a 600w and we paid for the 1000w. When quering theses things it was sort of brushed of in our opinion. Staff then made a phone call gave the phone to Customer saying it was the owner. He was a bit rude and abrupt. The explainations we got were, it just hasn’t been cleaned since it arrived and was on a flat bed so would have got dirty then, the invertor was replaced as the 1000w ones were just cheap chinese ones and they were having issues with them, if you look on the plate it says it is built in Oct 2017; etc. We felt as though, we were being treated as ungrateful customers. We are not, we were told MDC was going to build us a brand new one for our inconvenience, had we being told we will replace the canvas and the electrical or replace with an old stock etc, that would have been fine. We were not yelling and being difficult in our opinion. We just asking about a product we have paid a lot of money for and had to have it replaced. The owner on the phone said to Customer, did you want me to give your money back then? Customer said no were are happy with the last camper but it had leaked and we needed it replaced and was told it was going to be a brand new one. Staff was generous enough to give us a second hand cover which we greatly appreciate, even though we store it in the garage its good to keep dust of. Staff had also assured us the extra spreader poles were in the bag with the rest of the poles. Staff and the owner had said that they have gone out of there way for us, the owner went on to say he wouldn’t have built a new one if it were up to him. We accepted the camper as we felt like I said earlier as if we were being ungrateful customers, they way Staff spoke to Customers wife made her terribly upset and she had to go and sit in the car. We had a trip planned and thought lets go at least it has no mould now. We went on our trip. We noticed a lot of things not right with it. On opening it there are two dents in the floor could be hammer holes. The kitchen sink doesn’t hold water at all, while doing dishes the water was leaking out. The clicker for the stove doesn’t work. We didn’t have the extra spreader poles are not in the bag. The jockey wheel tyre is coming off making it hard to move around. There are poles either to short or too long or not in the camper, going by the set up diagram and when it was set up. The floor under the bed isn’t screwed down just sitting there. The Strutts that are suppose to hold the bed up don’t work, it’s like they have no gas in them. The winch is very hard to use, very stiff unlike our previous one. The rivets are really loose on the catches that hold the top down. We have packed it up dry as we had some very sunny days the last few days. We are now putting damp rid containers in while being stored as researching and looking on MDC campers sites that is what other camper trailer owners do. If you could contact Customer via (phone number removed for review) bearing in mind he works and sometimes cannot answer the phone, Customers wife has been very upset by the whole experience and would prefer not to talk with MDC, she will answer emails. On checking through emails, the vin number that Staff gave me (vin removed for review) is different to the one we received (vin removed for review), we didn’t think to check at the time, but checked while writing this email. Also when finding the vin was different to the one Staff had given us, we checked on vic roads site the vin number of the camper we have is not record according to vic roads and the rego number it is registered with has a different vin number (vin removed for review) to what is on the camper. So we are very confused and concered as to what is going on, our insurance is invalid according to the vin and we have a camper trailer that has the wrong plates/vin number which we believe is illegal so making it not registered really, and if caught towing we could be in a lot trouble. We seem to be given the wrong camper as we had thought when picking it up, but were made to feel otherwise. We emailed Staff and Staff as they were the tow people we dealt with through the first issue. Staff informed us to fill in this form. Hi we sent an email to Staff and Staff on the 2/1/2018 as they were the ladies we spoke to about our first warranty claim. Staff spoke to Customer and said that she would get the vin number situation sorted and find out what is going on. She told Customer to put the claim through the warranty process on the MDC site and she will look out for it. We put the claim in on the 7/1/2018, we received and email from MDC stating they received our claim and we can expect an email or phone call. We have not received any phone calls or emails from either MDC, Staff or Staff no one. We emailed Staff on the 15th and 23rd of January asking how things were going with our issue and still no reply. We are now very upset and are thinking is MDC just ignoring us and hope this issue goes away. We have decided if we don’t hear anything by the 5th of February will take this matter further as it seems MDC are not going to sort this issue out. Fair enough this may take a while to process and sort out but not to be notify that we are doing this is unacceptable. I have sent this to the warranty claim process on MDC and to Staff again. I will add we still to this date haven't heard from MDC and the rego is still illegal. Maybe we will get a response soo, if not we will be going to fair trading.Warranty repair from hell!
Market Direct Campers VICContacted MDC and took our XT-12DB caravan to their now closed Melbourne showroom in Campballfield in late March 2017. All faults identified and spare parts organised. Months gone by and still not hear from their Melbourne office on parts arrival. We moved home and took our van to their new Geelong showroom in mid October 2017. No parts arrived! A few weeks later, we found out that repair is being done by a third party. No problem, except they cannot get parts from MDC in Brisbane to fix our van either!
My partner tried to call MDC Head Office and they no longer answer his calls!
Haven't used our van since Queen's Birthday in late March 2017! And doesn't look like we will get it back before Christmas/New Year holiday either!

After 6 weeks of chasing unanswered phone calls the redarc system was deemed faulty they washed their hands deemed not their problem lucky redarc were awesome problem was fixed in two days. We have done one big trip for 3 weeks, wheel camber is out, spot welds broke and table fell off. That was fine we put the warranty claim in 1st of September, finally got to deliver our van 11 Mayember, I did call once to check we were going okay on

Market Direct Campers VICUsed our camper traiIer 4 times. Bearings are stuffed. Numerous phone calls later no response or resolution. still awaiting return of calls and emails.
October 13th 2017 Update: Worst company I have ever dealt with
Purchased a camper trailer from Campbellfield showroom. I had read the reviews and was quite upfront that I was reluctant given the bad reviews. I was advised that they were aware of the reviews and the processes had changed. After 4 uses we found the bearings to be totally useless and further investigation revealed a manufact

No call back, never answers the phone, never responds to voicemails, email not responded to. Rang head office and told the manager was in Bali and there was no one else I could speak to. After demanding to speak to someone in authority I got hung up on. I do not know how they stay in business given their extremely bad after sales service. I hope MDC is reading this because it will be referred to consumer affairs if I have not received a satisfactory outcome.Hi Mellykelly

The most recent poor performance is from your very own Managing Director, who was rude, patronising and also hung up on me after I refused to repeat the entire litany of issues that I have experienced. He is in possession of every communication that has occurred between myself and MDC and still he wants it all again. Oh and guess what - once again the story of being a new team. I have a complete chronology of emails to and from your Geelong Office and head office, including the Managing Director and still have no resolution. Next stop VCAT and as much publicity as possible about your disgraceful service and shoddy product. You can rest assured that you haven’t heard the last of me. Attached to 240 power to boost still wouldn't last 24 hrs. Attached to generator same result. Changed our itinerary and went to Townsville where all that was done gave the same results. So we decided to go to Mildura and Stuart from Melbourne said he would arange to get a auto electrician to check everything. We had to constantly keeping ringing everyone for responses. Eventually got to a great auto electrician at Sunraysia Auto Electrical at Mildura who found one battery faulty and advised both batteries be replaced due to unknown Chinese brand. Couldn't contact Stuart from Melbourne again, couldn't get the Melbourne office, auto electrician couldn't get anyone either so we decided to go ahead and replace both as it was 4.30 and we needed to get accommodation for the night and the business was getting ready to close Finally Stuart rang at almost 5pm after us being at the business for 2 hrs and said he would only pay for one battery leaving us to pay over 500$ for the 2nd battery. The service has been appalling all along -this review is condensed - we have had to keep ringing and ringing to get assistance. The staff sound concerned but do not follow through. We are now waiting to hear back from the Manager regarding the 2nd battery and will post another review tomorrow if we hear from anyone. Market Direct Campers VICWhat a terrible experience, you need to call back, many times, never keep their promise, many faults and quality is shocking with major defects. I was told not to purchase their products but couldn't afford others. Biggest mistake I have ever made. After sale support is terrible and will take legal action and go via consumer affairs. I want to be fair and just but couldn't even get any respect at all. Until now my camper trailer hasn't been fixed and haven't used the camper not even once.
Poor after sales service
Market Direct Campers VICPurchased new camper in February this year. Contact up until pick up was very sporadic. They day off pick up couldn't even get hold off the person who supposed to meet us at the showroom. The bloke we dealt with was apologetic but annoyed at the same time. Got home set tent up only to discover 2 spreader polls missing. Have sent numerous emails made numerous un answered phone calls but to no avail. After reading reviews initially was prepared to give them benefit of the doubt but wish we hadn't. Seriously hope nothing else goes wrong.
Very disappointed
Market Direct Campers VICTerrible communication. We ordered our camper trailer early Feb. After quite a few emails with hardly any response. We still don't have it. Why have email if you never answer them.
We booked and paid to go away starting at easter for 1 and half weeks. But when my husband finally got a hold of someone. We were told it won't be ready before easter.
We should of read reviews before ordering it.
We had an estimated day of delivery. But its way after that. They never communicated with us about it being late. We had to ring or email to see what was happening.

RIPPED OFF, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, POOR INFORMATION REGARDING SET UP
Market Direct Campers VICWe bought our Voyager RF5 hard floor Off road camper in June 2015 for $16,000 (and it was on sale). We recently tried to sell our camper which is practically still very new because we wanted to upgrade and came across a lot offers of under $10,000 as these buyers kept mentioning that you could buy our model camper for $10,000 brand new. I went on to MDC web site and found that where selling our model camper brand new for $10,000 - WOW what company can reduce the sale value by $6,000 in such a short time, our camper is only 1 and half years ol
... Read mored, how ripped off did we feel. No wonder we found it hard to try and sell our camper even advertised at $11,000 and in great condition it would not sell due to being overpriced as we unfortunately found out the hard way. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, you will loose a lot of money, this is criminal that MDC can reduce the sell price by over $6,000 in such a short period, there is no resale value in this product due to there extreme under cutting of sale prices. Also they sold us an extended 5 year warranty for $1,500 which we found via email one week later the contract for the warranty was with an external insurance company and not MDC direct, the terms and conditions in the contract did not cover off road - GO FIGURE we bought an OFF ROAD camper and MDC sold us the extended warranty, MDC mislead us with this product as well. The insurance company require a yearly large check list to be completed at your own cost through a credited caravan dealer to keep the extended warranty valid, and as you can image not a cheap process,DO NOT PURCHASE extended warranties from MDC, they will mislead you and rip you off on this product as well. MDC are happy to take your money and the customer service fails when you need to address issues and complaints. We had a couple of warranty issues in the first two weeks of receiving our camper which was disappointing, we did not have the best experience in having these repaired in the manner you would expect with a new camper. Overall we enjoyed the concept of owing a off road hard floor camper however the experience has been soured by MDC campers. I rang and asked MDC to refund our extended warranty amount of $1,500 as they sold us a product that did not suit our OFF ROAD camper, you can image what happened to this request NOTHING - NO Resolution at all. Be very weary when considering buying a MDC camper do your home work do not learn the hard way as we did. It is not worth your money brand new, might as well throw cash out the window. 4WD action should STRONGLY reconsider promoting and advertising MDC campers, this is the only reason why we even considered the MDC campers due to their promoting of this product. Please learn from our tough lesson. I feel sick thinking about the amount of money we have lost with this product. If I can save one person the heart ache than I will be happy. Also trying to get through to Campbellfield office during business hours is incredibly frustrating and no-one seems to answer the phone there. Your constantly having to leave message after message. I had no option but to choose one star as this is even way to much for our experience with MDC campers MelbourneHi,
Very sorry you feel this way, MDC strives to ensure all our products are priced according to the specifications of those trailers.
... Read more Your MDC 2015 Voyager, is a very well optioned trailer. I understand this could be frustrating if you comparing to identical trailers. In this case MDC has introduced a very good rear fold hard floor to the market and it does share the same name. But that is the only comparison you can make between the 2015 Voyager and the 2017 Voyager, They are completely different trailers from the ground up. The 2015 MDC Voyager is more similar to our Jackson Rear Fold which is still currently priced at $15,990.00. in 2015 we were offering our standard 12 Month warranty inline with our 5 Year structural warranty on the Chassis, Draw bar and Structure. Customers had the option of the extended warranty through AWN (Australian Warranty Network) Which was always advertised and offered as it is today. I'm more than happy to discuss, my details are below. Regards Andrew Gilbert National After Sales and Service Manager 0428 084 060 [email protected]Hi Andrew
Thanks for your response. I can guarantee you that when we paid for the extended warranty at the time of our purchase of the camper trailer we where not informed of the extended warranty
... Read more being with external company. Only after about a week later did we than get an email supplying us with the extended warranty contract with AWN. At the time I thought we where unable to get out of the contract as full payment had been made to MDC. Obviously we had no choice but to accept the extended warranty contract given to us by AWN. Sometime later when I happen to read the contract in full I noticed out of pure luck in some very fine print that AWN insurance did not cover off road usage, how crazy is that as our Voyager is an off road camper. I believe we where completely mislead with this product and I would request a refund of the extended warranty. To make matters worse we are required to have the camper inspected yearly at our cost to keep the extended warranty valid, making the whole deal not worth it, this also was not mentioned at all when we purchased the extended warranty by MDC, again I would like to point out the MDC sold us the extended warranty not AWN. Your staff certainly require better training. The terms and conditions of the full contract for the extended warranty should of be been provided prior to full payment being received as the contract is with a third party and not with MDC. This has certainly soured my experience with purchasing our first camper trailer.Poor customer service
Market Direct Campers VICWe bought an MDC Stepthrough Camper and discovered that the tent had not been constructed properly and didnt actually fit the camper. After lodging a warranty claim and multiple phone calls to the Melbourne branch we are yet to have our claim resolved. We have been told that a new tent would be sent down from Brisbane but now it is several months later and there is still no sign of a replacement tent. Very disappointed with the service and communication.

Not Happy
Market Direct Campers VICSo after doing our research and looking around we decided to purchase a MDC Camper trailer I called up and made an appointment to go in to the Melbourne office. When I arrived I was treated very well and shown everything I was looking at the service was fantastic sales guy was very accomodating to our needs,we added a heap of extras we nutted out the price and I agreed to purchase. I was told that the guy who was looking after me is no longer there and that the camper hadn't been put into production as there was no deposit left, as you can understand I am very disappointed in the service no one even called me to let me know there was any problems we have booked a holiday over Christmas with the family and it now looks like the kids will be disappointed due to no contact to inform me of any problems. Don't tell me I you don't need deposit because my finance was approved in full with an outside financier and now tell me that it's not getting built because of no deposit. very disappointed family today. Thanks to Stuart in Melbourne for helping to sort this out back on track for delivery on 26/11/2016

Market Direct Campers VICLots of problems, they had the van more than me in the first six months. Would not buy their vans ever again, sold ours after 10 months.
Hi Alan,
After investigating further, you did have some repairs done as stated, The roof had some work done and it was in for a maximum of two weeks, you had a couple of minor issues that were resolved within one week. not six months as stated.

... Read more Got a call from Geelong Office, Staff telling me he has sent of some documents express post and has indicated where I need to sign in regards to the vin number getting changed on the camper. He stated he hadn’t had any training on how to change the vin numbers on registrations and has been trying to contact VIC roads, but they aren’t answering calls. Still no word a From MDC about all the other issues with the camper. 5/2/2018 We got an express post envelope in the mail. So thought okay these are the papers for VIC roads to change the vin like Staff had mentioned. On opening it we found a vic roads change of vehicle details. But then there is another document that is headed Honda Finacial Services. A deed variation? It has BOQ’s name in it, we haven’t been informed by BOQ of any changes needing to be made, also Staff didn’t mention this document. We read it and still confused as to what this is and don’t feel comfortable signing this document as in one of the paragraphs it says, It is fully inspected the new securities and confirms that same are in good condition and conform to the borrowers requirements, it also says BOQ and Honda will not be held liable for any warranties. We are not comfortable signing as, We are not happy with the way the camper is, no one from MDC has made any contact or attempt to fix the issues with the camper, but yet want us to sign this document and say we are happy with the camper as it is. We see this as a way for MDC to get out of fixing the issues. We still have not heard anything from MDC about our claim made on the 7th of January 2018 or the 29th of Jaunary 2018.
