GPS very unreliable
The GPS in the Mazda 3 is extremely unreliable. We have a round about in our town that has been there for over 25 years. The GPS does not recognise it. We were told to update the system and have done this a number of times and it still does not recognise the round about. Some days it will tell me there is a school zone and some days it doesn't. The climate control system will read 5 degrees higher than it is, even when the car is parked in a garage or parked in the shade. The speed zone readings are not always correct. Again, the main s...Read more
treet in our town is 50km not 60km. It has been 50km for a number of years now. The GPS comes up as 60km. Again updated the system and still it reads incorrect. No use telling the customer service people as they are addament that the car does not have any problems with the GPS. They have not had any complaints about the GPS system in the Mazda 3. We were considering buying the Mazda 9. We will not now. Our next new car will be the Toyota Kluger.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

effecient car
Excellent performance and reliable on road with full comfort & relax with good steering
I like its dashboard however dislike the tiny legroom, they can enhance this cons by providing more space especially for big size people
its running cost is affordable and cheap compared to others of same category and reliable on road

Highly-featured and drives well
I bought the SP-25 in April 2015. We've put more than 40,000 on the clock in less than two years. It drives well, grips the road capably (18-inch wheels) and is generally good on fuel (around 7-8L/100km). Servicing via Mazda costs about $400-500 per 10,000km.
The interior is well-speced. The entertainment system is pretty good, bluetooth, USB connections etc.
Drawbacks?
1. The internal navigation system is useless. Just don't bother with it. Stick with Google Maps.
2. The stop-start technology probably does save some fuel, but you ...Read more

Just really good car
I used to own a holden craptiva ( not a typo) I was so disappointed with the car and the dealer (worst car I ever had). I traded it in for a Mazda 3 Neo, it was the best move ever, the car works the way is supposed to and nothing on it has given me any problems, after two years of the change I couldn't be happier.

Reliable, Value for Money
For a car in the moderate price range the driving experience is fairly good- gear box an easy shift, handles climbs well through the full 6 gears with little drag on engine with extras such as AC- Starts easily although Id rather a key start than an electronic button ignition. Interior road noise is noticeable but not distracting. Interior surfaces of dash etc easily dirtied- materials used not ideal. Space interiorly larger in hatch than the 3X. Front seat belt sensors an annoying problem as easily activated by items on seat.

Uses more fuel than stated.
Claim 6.1 litres per 100 km, I get about 8.5 litres per 100 km.
Fuel gauge has a 20% error, speedometer has a 10% error and the climate control is not accurate.
Otherwise the car drives well and is comfortable, could do with more lumbar support.
The safety pack works well.

Reliable and surprisingly Sporty
Want a sporty hatch but do not want to pay German money? Try a Mazda. My Mazda 3 SP25 was under $30K new, but comes with all the bells and whistles you would have to pay $50k for in an equivalent Mercedes Benz. My car has the optional safety pack which is great in lots of situations especially when reversing out onto a road or carpark where your vision is blocked. Performance wise 0-100 in 7.1 seconds is plenty fast for most people and I get as low as 5.7L/100 when on a highway commute. Handling is surprisingly good due mainly to the large 18" rubber fitted at the factory. Looks are subjective, but I reckon it's way ahead of the current Toyota, Subaru, Honda and Mitsubishi crop. All in all a winner. Looking forward to the AWD turbo version!

Low Maintence - Less Petrol
We were hesitant buying a Mazda at first, but we are very pleased with our vehicle. It provides us with a cost efficient vehicle, with a tank of petrol lasting close to two weeks, considering the amount of daily travelling we do. Our previous vehicle (Commodore) used the same amount of petrol in less than a week.
The team at Paradise Motors were fantastic is providing us with the sales information. Servicing of the vehicle has been exceptional.

Economical to run but there are some caveats
I bought a 2015 2.5L GT with Safety Pack and sunroof. These are the pros and cons:
Pros
1. It is very fuel efficient car compared to the car I replaced (GM Cruze). My weekly spend on fuel went from approx $80~$90 to now $30~$40 a week.
2. The 2.5L engine is very nippy in acceleration. No problems going up hill in this car.
3. Good handling and control on the highway at 100km/h.
Cons
1. Alot of road noise.
2. Navigation and infotainment unit have alot of bugs. I had infotainment crashes, Navi sound not working and sometimes Navi sound instructions go ballistic and repeats the same thing for entire trip. The dealer cant seem to resolve this with 3 firmware upgrades. It is still outstanding since Feb 2015 and it is now Oct 2016.

I don't feel confort with driving this car
This car is not safe, due to narrow sight angles therefore the viewing angles are critical and uncomfortable, in addition to the body of the car front is too low, leading to damage to the front pillar of any collision of the Earth and the potential of this is great. Besides there are cockpit bad because it contain a circular shape only and the rest of the panel is dark .

Great looking and fantastic fuel economy but with a few caveats
Got a brand new from our local Mazda in September 2015 Mazda 3 Touring, so onto our one-year anniversary.
Good Points - good looking car, the sedan looks better than the hatch IMO. Have driven just on 800klm on one fuel tank!, online fuel trip currently sitting at 5.5lts per 100klm. Very light car so fuel economy is great, performance is nippy.
Inclusions list is great, reversing camera, navigation, cruise control, hands-free etc. We also bought when the normal 3 year was extended to 4 year at no extra cost. Only happens once a year on Mazd...Read more

This is perfect I am in love
I am in love with this car. I never even thought of Mazda before or knew much about their cars until my Mum introduced me. Now I can't believe I have never noticed how awesome they are. The features especially the safety features of the car. The price has meshed into my budget well. And the colour red no other car has a colour red like Mazda red. Never liked red until Mazda showed me their unique metallic red with so much style. I trusted this car so much I didn't even test drive it I just read about the features and viewed it at a dealership. ...Read more
I never felt more confident I didn't need to test drive this car and its lived up to everything. I had to hunt for a vehicle after my old car got stolen and I was devastated I didn't know what car to get I wasn't planning for one. What would anyone do? I needed a car but didn't want to just pick anything because my car was gone but I felt rushed and pressured I had to find one. Mazda has made the whole thing end up positive for me after going through that experience and help me say goodbye to my old car I loved for 7 years and fall in love with my Mazda CX3 Red where it gives me a feeling of style, safety security and hasn't sunk me financially. Thanks for everything Mazda I hope others are able to have such a great experience too. Buying a car is such a sales pitch and hearing people tell you what they want you to spend money on and at times come across as your Best mate to get a deal. But I haven't felt that with Mazda or this car, this car was about what I wanted and what suited me. And don't be afraid to go Manuel also it's takes about $2000-$3000 off the price if your bounded by a stricter budget and it's great to drive. I went Manuel where I was than able to add the safety pack on, tinted windows head light covers and floor matts and get the Maxx instead of a Neo. Thought all models are great my opinion is even if your on a budget go up to Maxx you won't regret it if your think Neo. I was going to go Neo but the Max you can add the safety pack and you get the GPS and all these fun functions and extras which Neo doesn't have. But whatever you choose you won't regret. And nine air bags wow talk about feeling safe to drive. I was even told the Mazda CX3 a customer advised her rep the car saved her life after an accident. Terrible to think or happen but it's something we must all consider as it can happen to anyone. Think about that? I know I have.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Almost a five but for a few small objections - Lovely vehicle. Positive driving experience.
Drives like it's on rails. Impressive. Loved my two long test drives (totalling 4.25 hours) in February and March. Ordered one when one of the local dealers accepted my offer on a well optioned SP25 automatic sedan with the three-way safety pack.
Comfortable and relatively roomy for a small to mid-sized car.
The 2.5L motor pulls it along well.
The iStop feature takes some getting used to but I am not too concerned about it now that I am used to it.
Negatives: (1) not a fan of slim spare wheels ... would much prefer a full-sized spare. (2...Read more
) a dealer problem, not a brand problem - paraphrase "we will cancel your extended warranty if, at any time, you use a non-Mazda service person/venue. (3) not impressed with the overly tight servicing schedule (4) start/stop button is placed out of view. (5) more road noise than my previous diesel luxury car but that's not a deal-breaker. (6) digital tachograph is out of place in a driver's car More positives: Great sound system on a bang for buck basis. A good sat-nav system. Plenty of outlets and USBs for charging and connectivity. Nice plastics. Easily adjustable seats and steering wheel. Very good value alloy wheels. Huge boot for a small/mid sedan ... only 8cm shallower (to rear seat backs) than my previous Peugeot. Easily carries four adults or a pair of parents and three kids. Good storage spots. Better, more versatile drink holders than the Peugeot 508.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent car
My wife and I have had a lot of cars between us over the last 7 years, some good and some very bad, but the Mazda 3 has been wonderful. Nice styling, zippy handling, good fuel economy and excellent build quality. Not a genuine complaint about this car, it's nice to drive, has no issues and doesn't cost a fortune to service.
Highly recommend.

Better than you think
I had the first gen mazda 3 then went on to other cars and today I purchased an Astina sedan. The car has come such a long way in those 10 years. Its now right up the top end as far as features go, it is a really nice place to be.
I highly suggest popping by a dealer and going for a drive and hear the sales pitch, then go buy a used one for quite a lot less lol (thats what i just did) saved about $14k and its just had its first service!
Anyway, every feature i have wanted in a car they have somehow put in here and some very useful things...Read more

Too many blind spots
I've always owned Mazdas. They are great reliable cars. But the new Mazda3 design has too many blind spots. I bought the car 5 months ago and have almost had an accident a few times because the front A pillars block my view. So now I have to move my body and head right up to the windscreen when turning corners or entering intersections and roundabouts. Not ideal! I also find the reversing camera very annoying because it beeps when you still have more room. What I do like is the torque. It's not as good as my old rotory engines but it has a bit ...Read more
of get up and go. It feels nice to drive and the seats are pretty comfortable. The fuel economy is amazing. I drove from the Gold Coast to Sydney and only stopped for fuel once. But I've only given it 3 stars because the forward visibilty is a real safety hazard. And for that reason I've started looking for a new car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it
As outlined in my review on the VW Golf, we have now traded it in on a new Mazda 3 SP25 and love, love, love it.
Does everything it is listed, I see many reviews mentioned road noise but I have not had a problem with this but I do only drive in the City.
Both the interactive communication system and the interior are far superior to the Golf, I always hated the Golf's interior, felt so old-fashioned.
All in all - glad we made the decision to get the Mazda.

Good car. Useless service department at ringwood.
If you want a pushy aftersales person trying to ram paint protection down your throat and a service department that tells you you have to wait at least 2 weeks to get an oil change and give 4 weeks notice to get a loan car then ringwood mazda is for you. Bought a new car there in early 2015 good car but level of customer service after purchase is a joke. They said they can give me a lift home after i drop my car off. Ah No. I got things to do too. Will never buy another mazda product again. Competition is fierce and if you cant deliver on all levels ill take my business elsewhere.

Was wondering if anyone has had issues with the MZ Connect system? I have a Mazda 3 Hatch BM MY2015 SP 25 Astina. Just under a year of getting it new, the " your over the speed limit" woman started going silent, yet you could tell that she was trying as the right ( driver) side speaker would be off, with music still coming through the left ( passenger) speaker. And this would happen more so if apps like Pandora were active. I've had one fix, that didn't fix it. There is another one due in a few weeks but there must be more than one driver having this issue!

I haven't had any major problems, I just use the music connected to an iPod & the navigation, it has crashed a few times but generally works well.
Yes I had this problem. It started when I had a service in October 2016. Just had another service and it has stopped doing it thanks to them updating softare or just reinstalling whatever version is currently out. Hope this helps :)
Thanks
