I bought the swing maxi, have used it once and it has completely lost suction. The parts don’t seem to be sitting flush together which is I think why the suction has gone. I’ve tried so many ways to reassemble but can’t make it work.

Has anyone else had trouble cleaning g milk from the tubes on this? We have the double pump. I have run (from tap and by siphoning) warm soapy water and then warm water through the tubes but after drying the milk still remains. Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers.

I’ve recently purchased the swing maxi to ty to make pumping faster (was using the medela single). It’s actually faster with the single to pump both sides (25 mins total) to using the double (up to 40 mins). The suction is definitely less and I can still express lots once the pump stops producing. I’m beginning to think my pump is faulty. Not saving me time at all, and my supply is dropping as it won’t/can’t empty my breasts. Is this a common issue?

I've never used a single pump although I do sometimes just pump one breast at a time, I have found that sometimes my right breast doesn't produce much milk when pumping but my left will fill the bottle in 10 - 15mins, I'm thinking you might have a faulty one, I'd take it back and question it, atleast if they give you another one you can test if it was just that pump.

Hi Elle
Thank you for your question. There are many reasons why this may be happening. To ensure this is not an issue with the pump itself, I would recommend you take your pump back to the place of purchase with your receipt and ask them to test the pump. If the store you bought your pump from do not have a test kit please contact Medela Customer Service on 1800 787 345
Although the Swing Maxi has a much stronger motor (to allow for double pumping) they have have the same suction levels, there is a valve in the Swing Maxi which ensures you get equal suction on both sides. I hope this helps.

I have recently returned to work and using the Swing Maxi to express. I have recently noticed a drop in pump output. Do the connectors/membranes need to be changed in the maxi as in other pumps? If so how frequently?

Hi Medela I am a new mom to be and I want to know what’s the life span of each of the machine for both Swing Maxi and Freestyle?

Hi Grace
We provide a 2 year warranty on our electric breastpumps. The life span will however depend on how the pump is used, maintained and stored. As such there is no definite life span for the machine.

Can this be used as one pump at a time or does both have to be used together?

It definitely can be used as one pump. It’s easier to pump one side and your child on the other side.

Yes, We stuck some blue tack on the end of one end of the tube and was able to use the single. Wife found the suction was better on single pump and she never used double after that. Made me cringe forking out extra to get her the double which I thought would be more time consuming for her.

Hello Chris
The Swing Maxi can be used as both a single or double.
All you need to do is insert the tubing (not in use) into the triangle and please make sure it is properly inserted.
If you require assistance with your unit please feel free to contact us on 1800 787 345.

To the Medela company,
I recently bought a Medela Swing Maxi. Originally I had bought a Lansinoh with at first was working great but rapidly deteriorated and stoped extracting within a month or two. Now, I have the Medela but, it is not extracting as much milk as I would like. Is there something wrong with the product or, am I doing something wrong? Could you please email me at [email protected] or call me at +436608405020
Thank you!

Hi,
My partner today purchased a Medela Maxi double pump Second hand.
After testing it I am concerned it's not functioning efficiently.
With my first baby 6 years ago I had a Single Medela Swing, loved it and worked perfect.
I'm trying to work out of the pump is faulty or my memory fails me.
It has little suction to only move the nipple a little, it falls straight off your breast there is no suction seal ornate pressure what so ever.
It's a double, all sealed and parts in correctly just wonder if maybe the diafram is broken inside or I remember the suction being stronger than it actually is.
Thanks for your help :)

Hi! There definitely sounds like there is something wrong with it. The suction is quite strong. There were a couple of times when I didn’t have the suction and that was user error. Firstly check:
1. Have you got the suction cups completely closed on your nipple? They need to be completely sealed against your skin.
2. When I washed the diaphragms, if they were still wet they would not build up enough pressure.
3. Same issue if there is any water in the tubing.
4. Make sure all the tubing is plugged into the bottles and pump correctly, if there is any air getting in then you won’t get suction.

Are you pumping both breasts at ththe same time?

Hello
Thank you for reaching out to us and sorry to hear you are having some issues with your pump.
As it is a second hand unit it is hard to determine if issue relates to the consumables as you didn't mention if new parts were purchased.
It is possible that the Connector Assembled and tubing need replacing.
Also the Breastshield could be an issue (you may have to do some measurement).
You are welcomed to call us first so that we can go through some trouble-shooting with you or you can go ahead and buy the replacement parts.
Thank you & regards, Anne

Hello!

The Medela symphony is an amazing pump I used in hospital and also hired from a chemist for a week to get my supply up. I pumped every 2 hours when I had it at home. During that time I researched and found that the Maxi Swing would be the closest to it that I could buy. It has the same 2 phase system and it is very gentle but it is not THE same obviously. To be honest I found it to be just as good! My supply increased well, mind you I was on domperidone and fenugreek as well. I hope this helps.
