Can this run off a wall timer, as most humidifiers once turn off at the wall you need to physically press the power button to recommences operations. So can it run off a timer? On 15 mins off 15 mins, on 15, off 15 etc etc! Needed for reptile enclosure & needs to run off an analogue timer?

Can I operate this off a timer, as it’s for reptile enclosure & I need a humidifier that can remain on & work off of the analogue or wall timer?
I know it does not have built in timer: but can it work off a manual timer at the wall socket?

this particular model does not have a timer, however, our Medescan Rainbow Mist Top Fill model does have a timer option of 3, 6 and 9 hours.

How do you clean inside the plastic water dome if there is mould in it? I’m not sure if it is the problem but it is giving off a funny smell when I use it. I have wiped out the white base. I am worried to use if I cannot clean it properly as it is in my baby’s room.

Thank you for your question.

The unit develops mould if any water is left in the water tanks.

Please note, the whole unit needs to be completely dry prior to storage.

In order to clean the water tank, we suggest you add some water into the water tank, add a teaspoon of white vinegar and swirl it. Please let it soak on mould areas for about 30 minutes. Rinse the water tank thoroughly with fresh water.

at the moment, the only aroma compatible with our Rainbow Mist humidifier is the Medescan Special Blend Aroma.

If you wish to use your own aroma oil, you can simply add it into the aroma tray located in the base of the unit. Please make sure that no other oil is added to the water tank or unit water as it will damage the humidifier and void your warranty.

Maybe give it a wash, it is probably some dirt stuck in it...? I would say that you should return it and ask for your money back but the company DO NOT do refunds. Take your money (through a 3rd party) but no getting it back. I abhor companies who have such little care...

Hi team
I’m from NZ, and was just wondering if there is someone to contact in NZ? I got a rainbow mist humidifier last week for my grand babies room and my daughter noticed where she had placed it, it was all damp and we noticed water was coming out of a hole on the very bottom by the plug in cord and some was dripping out the turn dial. We have done everything right and have watched the you tube tutorial, so don’t know what we are doing wrong, but we don’t wanna use it cause it seems a hazard. Can anything be done?

there are a couple of reasons the humidifier turns off. For instance, when the unit runs out of water, there is an auto shutoff safety feature.

Maybe the hole where the mist comes out was blocked. You should contact them or ask them for a replacement.

What is the cost of running the rainbow mist humidifier on maximum, medium and low? I live in SA.
BTW mine only runs on maximum for 8 hours, not for 10 as stated on the box.

Hi Klari,

The Rainbow Mist Humidifier uses approximately 18W of power on High setting, 14W on Medium and 12W on Low setting.

Besides the power usage we recommend changing the water filter every 500 hours of continuous use. The cost of the replacement filter is around $9.95

Regarding the running time, there are a few variables that can affect the running time. Most important of which is to make sure the water tank is filled up to the maximum possible level.

I love this Humidifier it is only new but for some reason after about 10-20 min of operation it starts to leak...any suggestions..??

when you say leak where from exactly? you know water from the tank is supposed to flow into the bottom white part once its put on there right? If you're getting leaks going to the outside of the unit then heck the filter is screwed in tight enough too though, if its not completely on centre it doesn't always screw on in the right way leaving a tiny space for leakage.

The replacement sponges are available with the purchase of a replacement filter. You may purchase a replacement filter at any local pharmacy.

You might also like to use any absorbent material cut to size such makeup removal pads.

Hi there for some reason my humidifier has decided to stop and has a red light instead of green power on light. Its just been refilled with water so it isnt that. It does this from Time to time. I think its a cord issue. Only got it this year. How do we get it fixed or replaced? Thanks

Hi Christine,

The only oil allowed inside the water tank or allowed in the water is the Medescan Special Blend. Any other oil will cause damage to the Rainbow Mist humidifier and void your warranty.

All other oils should be placed in the aroma oil drawer located on the base of the Rainbow Mist.

I have been using my humidifier for several weeks now and I've noticed brown stuff sitting in the water bowl. What causes this? Is it safe to breathe in the mist if this is present?

We have been using the Medescan for two weeks now and have not had this problem. I use only filtered water only and I use a clean cloth to wipe the unit over each time I refill it and then I boil my water and let it cool before adding to the humidifier. I would suggest contacting the company that makes the unit and ask them.

Hi Kim,
we recommend regular cleaning of the Rainbow Mist. Once a day or every second day, we recommend you clean the water tank and wipe down the base. To clean, simply add a teaspoonful of white vinegar to the water tank with some luke warm water and swirl to disinfect and clean the water tank. Empty the water tank and rinse thouroughly. Allow o air dry if not to be used immediatley.

Simply wipe the base.

The brown build up in the water tank can also be a result of high mineral content of your local water supply, To avoid mineral build up in the water tank, we recommend the use of distilled water.

Please note that the use of oil directly into the water tank may cause damage and build up of brown substance in the water tank. The only oil permitted for use in the water tank is the Medescan Special Blend oil.
