Excellent desk or bedside humidifier - BYO water reservoir
An often hot and typically dry local climate meant we suffered dried out, and occasional bleedy nostrils indoors, especially overnight. Friends suggested a humidifier such as the Philips, but reviews here led us to the Beuer LB12 Mini.
Bought one recently and was very surprised by its size - 500g of butter is slightly bigger. The humidifier itself may be small, but it requires a water reservoir in the form of a plastic drink bottle - 500ml being recommended - and preferably filled with filtered/distilled water. Two proprietary spring-loaded...Read more
one-way screw caps come with the unit to fit the most common drink bottles. With only a spare 1.25ltr bottle in the house, I've been pushing the recommended volume somewhat, but it still works really well. The oversized bottle does make the unit less stable, but when placed on a hard surface away from flailing elbows or inquisitive pets, it hasn't yet toppled over. Until we source a smaller bottle, we have the advantage of over 24 hours run-time on a single fill, with the misting turned down low. The unit is very quiet, making a faint hum and an occasional bubbling noise as the humidifier tops itself up with water from the bottle. It's almost like a quietly babbling brook in the distance, not a machine turning water into a cool mist on your bedside table or desk. One complaint is not with the unit, but with the multi-national instructions which rely on text more than illustrations. Removing the top of the unit to clean is described briefly, but when unfamiliar with the part names, it took a bit of fiddling to discover the flush fitting top did in fact come right off if the base was held just right. A series of simple drawings (IKEA-like) would have saved puzzling over which bits I could prise apart and also which end to pour off the remaining water when cleaning the unit. This is an instance where a picture is worth dozens of words in several languages.Purchased in February 2021 at Harvey Norman Online for $89.00.

Excellent portable humidifier
This ingenious Beurer LB12 Mini-humidifier is extremely well made and very easy to use. All it needs is a 500mL water bottle to screw on as a water tank. I have used this for four years and it hasn't missed a beat in all that time. The motor makes a little noise for about 2 mins after starting up but then settles into a whisper-quiet operation for the rest of the night. The interior has developed some water scaling lately so I have switched to using distilled water for the bottle. Otherwise this trusty little thing should continue working effortlessly for another five years without any problems. You can't beat good European engineering..!

Some aspects great, some frustrating
Good points: it's TINY (not much bigger than two decks of cards) and takes much less space on a bedside table than other humidifiers. It's also SO MUCH easier to use than other humidifiers I've tried. You just fill a typical 500mL plastic water bottle and screw on a special lid, then put that upside down on top of the unit. The power cord unplugs at the back so it's very easy to take the unit into the kitchen for its weekly clean. This ease of use makes me inclined to use it more than other humidifiers I've had. It's very quiet and has a 3 year...Read more
warranty which is awesome. It's clearly well made and is very well designed for travelling with. Bad points: when it's on, there's a blue indicator light that is way too bright for a device used in a bedroom, and the light flickers as the mist goes through it. The light permeates half the device which makes it hard to cover up. This might make it a nice night light for children but for me it is a really frustrating flaw in an otherwise terrific design. Also, being so small with only a 500mL water bottle's capacity, it also has less mist output than larger humidifiers. I find it's enough to balance out the drying effects of my air conditioner, or to raise humidity maybe 10-20% in a large master bedroom, which is fine for preventative use but may not be enough for serious congestion. Finally, it feels very stable but it would still be easier to tip over than a larger, more bottom-heavy humidifier.

Easiest to use and maintain
I use it every night. Output is excellent. Uses bottled water. I travel with it too. Uses a bottle each night (refill with filtered water). In the morning, let the unit dry out. Been using it for 4 years. Reasonably priced. And warranty is for 3 years! Purchased a few for family members who have problems with nose bleed and cold and allergies.
