Rubbish product and rip-off service
Have this Miele cooktop as it came with the new apartment - it was repaired twice under warranty and it has recently died again. Called customer service and was told that there would be a call-out charge of $170 and they are unsure if this can be repaired. This is very disappointing considering that this is a high-end product and what happens if the repair is going to cost close to $1k as mentioned by other users? I would rather replace it with another brand.

Miele 6357
This is a very temperamental cooktop. It constantly turns itself off or down. You cant rely on it to cook without watching it and I have trouble having more than one or two zones on at the same time. Great for boiling water if thats all you do in your kitchen.

Unreliable
This induction hob is terrible. It regularly simply turns itself off during cooking for no apparent reason. It frequently gets "F" faults (and then turns itself off) if you do the most normal things during cooking, like place a pot lid or a spoon on an unused part of the hob. Heat distribution is quite uneven. And the touch controls are so temperamental. If you have some "normal" levels of cooking splatter on the cooktop, the touch controls become impossible to use.
Oh, and when I contacted Miele, they said they'd only come out for a warranty call if I paid them $170. Not good customer service.
On the plus side, it boils water very quickly and you can sear a good steak (assuming it doesn't turn itself off in the middle of cooking).
Purchased in February 2021.

Kind regards, Anna.Hi Anna, I was already in touch with Miele and they wanted $170 for a warranty call out. I have researched this cooktop and I believe that these flaws are inherent in the design and there is not much you can do for me.

Putting the Lie into Miele?
We had this unit for about 4 years, cooking infrequently as we eat out often. It burnt out, blew the mains and died. I expressed my disappointment to Miele customer service, mentioning that a 2000$ plus cooktop ought to last longer than that, considering my rights under Australian consumer law ( which means that Meile cannot limit warranty claims to two years in case of major product failure) .
The Technician then lectured us on everything we did wrong.
1) we used non Miele brand pots/pans ( the brand we used were induction rated "Bacc...Read more
arat" ) but they had a few small grooves in the base which" cause overheating"...apparently. 2) We sometimes used the boost( B) setting to boil pots of water for Pasta and such as per the Miele manual. Apparently you should never use the B setting, ( I wonder why they have a B setting, and mention this in the manual?) 3) we sometimes lift the pots (briefly) off the cooktop during cooking. Rubbish
I have had two technician visits and he shows no fault but all he is doing is putting pans of water on the hob and bringing to a simmer. If you want to deep fry or do a stirfry the hob simply turns itself down or off.
If this had been my first induction hob or Miele hob I may have taken his word that it how it works. However due to house moves this is my third Miele induction hob and this one simply does not work.

uction than gas as it has just as much controllability as gas. This is simply not the case with a KM6357. I have contemplated buying a deep fat fryer but don't see why I should have to do this having paid for a quality brand hob. That would not help with other issues such as Stir Fry or as I was trying to do the other day dry fry two home made Naans in separate pans at the same time - the hob simply turns itself down meaning nothing is cooked at the appropriate temperature. I found this quote on their website: 'Cooking is fun! Especially if the technology works properly and the products are of first class quality' I can assure you it is not fun on the KM6357 it is stressful particularly if you have guests.Similar opinion? High price but rubbish quality
After bad experiences with the quality of Miele ovens, we thought that we'd try Miele again given its reputation. So we bought a Miele induction cooktop. As soon as you turn any cooking zone to a high temperature it turns itself down, and if you have two or more pots on the cooktop it turns itself off. Total rubbish, we're waiting for a technician to visit with a useless highly expensive cooktop.

We have since resolved the problem, and I would change my rating above. The problem was primarily caused by the kitchen installers leaving inadequate clearance below the cooktop for ventilation. Howev... Read more
er even what that's addressed the cooktop does stop you using other elements when you are using boost on one element and it does it in a strange fashion. However other than that, we really like the unit and now would change our rating to 4 star.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
