I am new to Miele and front load washing machines. I have run a cycle on express 20 and at the end the start/ stop button was flashing so i pushed to stop it, now "Program Cancelled" message comes up. I have turned on/ off machine, tried turning dial to different cycles but "Cannot Change Program" comes up, so I have put dial back to Express 20 and still Program Cancelled message comes up not allowing me to open the door. The LED display is not lit up to allow me to press OK. My washing has been in there for 24 hours and don't know what to do other than call Customer Service tomorrow. Not Happy!!! Can anyone help me please.??? Also I should add that the short and pre ironing buttons are still highlighted that were pressed at the beginning of the cycle. Thanks

Hi Kim,
Called Harvey Norman where machine was purchased and they suggested disconnecting all the mains at the switch. I pulled electrical plug out of socket after ensuring machine was completely off and had to leave for an hour or so. After such time they advised to connect all up again and it should and did allow me to open door to remove clothes however couldn't get message off screen. Called Miele customer service and they said I did everything correct and it should not have happened. They talked me through a few things which got me back to main screen. It has not happened since thankfully. Hope this helps.

Hi I have had my system for over 6 months and it has developed a smell when I open the door after a wash and when empty. I ;leave the door open when empty. When my twin dos cassettes ran out I turned off the dos system and went to the dispenser. I have cleaned the dispenser, and rubber is clean. I have ran the clean cycle a few times now. I also wash on high temperatures. Makes no difference to the smell. I am buying some more cassettes in hope the smell is coming from down there somewhere and using them again may flush the smell out. Please help never had this problem in my other brand front loaders.

Hi we have the same problem in our machine we have owned for a similar time. We run a hot 60c cycle with no washing in the amount of suds in a machine with just water added is amazing. It does help but I am wondering why there is so much detergent left in the machine.

We have cut down the amount of detergent we use and it still does it. So we are going to try reducing the detergent again and check if the washing gets cleaned properluy.

We do not use the dos system but running the cleaning cycle fixes it for a few washes but does not get rid of the smell which seems to be detergent laying in the base of the machine.

Thanks ardy01 but I don't get soap in my drum.
Also cleaned the outlets located bottom left.

Hi Vanessa,

It is not only important that you leave the door open but essential that you wipe down the rubber seals around the door when you have finished all your laundry. Water which is trapped in the seal can cause odour and mould to build up. I have a special microfibre cloth which I use for this purpose ONLY to wipe around the seals and the glass door inside the machine. I would also suggest that you wipe around the door seals with a cloth wrung out in vinegar which should hopefully rid you of the smell and also recommend that you do a clean of your TwinDos system. You go to settings, then select Dispensing Unit and select the maintenance/clean.
I have had my machine for well over two years and ALWAYS wipe the seals around my door whenever I have finished laundry and of course I also do a regular maintenance wash using the Miele Washing Machine/Dishwasher cleaner.

Hello, what is the best cycle to use when you want to wash trainers in this machine? Thanks, Patsy.

1 answer
Miz M K
Miz M K

Patsy,
I presume you mean your running shoes? Select "Further Programs" and then scroll down until you reach "outerwear". This is the only program I could suggest but as I have never washed trainers do not know the outcome of washing them. If you are determined to wash them in the machine use a low temperature on this cycle - say 20 degrees - and I would definitely use the Miele capsule called "sportswear" for this.
Good luck is all I can say.

Hi Sue,
Turn the knob to "Further Programs" and then scroll down using the down arrow until you reach "maintenance wash". I have the same machine as you and when I use this program I put a small amount of Miele Dishwasher & Washing Machine Cleaning powder into the drum. The program is run without any clothes.

Hello Miz. Several people have asked a question I also have, but it's not really been answered. The manual says I can put my own fabric softener into Twindos #2 bottle. But it does not, as far as I've found, explain how to tell the machine to draw fabric softener from this bottle. Yes, we can manually put some in the compartment for every wash, or buy expensive Capdos capsules, but that wasn't why I paid a lot of money for this machine.

2 answers
Miz M K
Miz M K

Hi Peterk,
You have to go to the main menu and scroll down until you reach "Dispensing Unit". You need to keep scrolling down until you reach "Both detergents". You then confirm this with the OK sensor and then select another detergent or fabric softener with Liquid detergent/Fabric softener.

Confirm the option displayed with the OK sensor or select another detergent or fabric softener with the up or down sensors. Detergent and/or fabric softener will now be dispensed in accordance with the wash cycle.
When you make the selection for detergent or fabric softener, make sure that you specify the appropriate amount for each as detailed on the bottles of each.
I would definitely recommend that you have a good read of your book which accompanied the machine to gain a better understanding.
Finally, and I do not wish to be rude, why would anyone want to mess around filling up containers with detergent and/or fabric softener when the Miele UltraPhase 1 and Ultraphase 2 detergent is an excellent product and specially made for the machines with TwinDos. Putting the appropriate amount of Miele fabric softener into the flip up container in the detergent drawer is so easy particularly if you do not want to use fabric softener capsules.

I like using the ultra phase liquids but what do you mean about putting the appropriate amount of Miele fabric softener into the flip container. I thought this was only for the capsules which are expensive. Not so sure the ultraphase 1 and 2 alone provide enough softness to my washing. Can you help ? TiA.

Hi Jacqui,

When does twin dos insert dosage ? Start, prewash, ? ?

1 answer
Miz M K

Hi Deb,
TwinDos takes the appropriate amount of UltraPhase 1 and UltraPhase 2 at varying times during the washing cycle. It also depends on the degree of soiling of the laundry - but never fear - the laundry is washed clean using this system.

Hi Te1,
It's one cap per wash. I also have a WKH130WPS machine and have not experienced anything like this - cap still half full. Do another wash with another full cap and if you still have the same result you could possibly have low water pressure which would should be checked.

im now using this new advanced washing system & the dryer.
Wash is great using the Dos, but how stupid it does not prompt you on the screen, that you have to push dos button every time !
trying to explain it to family or guests staying with you, that want to do a wash is just frustrating.
it even says on the screen for Cottons with pre wash ( use auto DOS) or compartment
when you select Cottons, OK is on screen, so select and thats it the start (lights up green) nothing about detergent, just Dumb !!
Quick Power Wash, screen OK, only start button high lighted.
explain please why this is ?
and is there some thing i can do to make it User? guest & family friendly
confused

1 answer
Miz M K
Miz M K

Hi Peter,
I also have the very same machine and DO NOT experience any problems whatsoever using it.
The long and short is - this machine gives you the option of either using DOS - that is, the ultraphase 1 and ultraphase 2 or you can if you so desire use washing powder in the drawer dispenser or liquid washing detergent. Obviously when you wish to use DOS you have to push that button and if not, then you do not select it. Also, it would be rather silly to have DOS as the default when you want to use caps for either woollens or silk.
The choice you make is up to you and furthermore, you should be aware that one CANNOT use DOS for certain types of washing - woollens, silks and delicates.
This is a fabulous machine but it does need input from a human who can use common sense.

I have just started using a Miele, my employer told me she has always used regular wash gel tabs from the store for the regular wash... she says she hates feeling obliged to buy from Miele and it's not a money issue. When I started I had no idea the system of stage 1 and 2 u til the Miele man came to service it last week and said the containers were empty and need replaced. I ordered 4 stage 1 and 4 stage 2. When they arrived I inserted them and pressed both arrows simultaneously to language and followed instructions.... did a huge pile of their holiday washing on short cycle 20 mins as was a freshen up really... they came out smelling still of holiday smell.. do I need to press the Dos button every single time as I'd read this should be done automatically? Do you have an option on any cycle (power washer or express especially) to not press Dos button and just pop in your own gel tab? I know anyone with a Miele brand mind will say to use Miele products but any further advice welcome.

Hi Jilly,
You need to press DOS every time you wish to use this function on the machine - i.e. using the UltraPhase 1 and Ultraphase 2. If you want to use washing powder in the dispensing drawer you do not have to press DOS.
Hope this assists.

Hygiene message keeps appearing most times when machine is turned on. Machine has been cleaned regularly.Only 6 months old & has been doing this since new. No problem to extinguish but I don't think it should do this. Any help?

Hi Gordon,
according to the manual, hygiene message appears when dirt builds up overtime. By running the Cotton 75C cycle should clean the machine and get rid off the message.
But if you say it has been doing this since new, then 2 things:
1. Check that you have removed the film that was protecting inside the drum
2. or may be it's faulty, hence you need to contact Miele and report.

Good luck,

Hi All, I am hopeless. I bought Miele TwinDos and after some time almost all my clothes smell sour (washed with TwinDos detergent, but also with Ultracolor the results are the same)! There are the spots of smell on the clothes. After washing it smells beautiful but during drying and after it (new dryer Miele) it appears. Does anybody have the same experience? Any tips? Same here. Quite often our clothes stink after being washed in the machine...this happened from day 1. Miele didn't really offer any solution other than cleaning the machine and running it on a hot wash. But seriously why would you need to do that on a brand new machine! Anyway it didnt help and still have stinky clothes. I'm thinking this machine is a lemon.

Nimmja
Nimmja

Hi Lucy and Dave, there are so many reasons as to why you are getting these results. Firstly the wash cycle make sure you are not using cold water washing only all the time, but I see you both mentioned that you have run successful hot washes. Water pressure could have a part to play here if the soap dispenser drawer is not getting thoroughly cleaned when filling up, this can lead to deposits under the soap drawer which over time will affect the smell. Lucy I noticed you said that you are getting spots of smell on the clothes after being in a dryer, i was wondering what water level you have your machine set to? This could be were a fabric conditioner or cleaning agent is attaching itself to the clothes and not being dispersed thoroughly due to low water levels being used especially in the rinsing stage, also this could be an indicator that you may be using too much detergent or fabric conditioner and the dryer will enhance a sour smell from the products as it dries. Always leave both the washing machine door open slightly and the soap dispenser drawer open to allow to dry between washes. Lastly once a month run the maintenance wash cycle on the machine with a good washing machine cleaner and then every 6 months do the boil wash cycle to thoroughly clean the machine. Hope this helps let me know?

Bambi70
Bambi70

Hi Lucy and Dave, yes I have the same problem with my Miele. I've tried various detergents including the Miele twin dos which also makes the clothes smell rank. Have also spoken to Miele and no help. Never had this problem before and I have looked at all possibilities and conclude that this machine is rubbish. I notice sometimes that there are dry patches on my clothes, indicating that there is not enough water going into the machine, problem is, my machine is already set to the highest water setting, I even use the additional water button, but doesn't help. Expensive piece of junk me thinks.

I have a W1 twin dos - I washed my jumper on the wool cycle and it shrunk completely - I can't seem to see how to change the temp setting on the woollens cycle, does anyone know if you can do that?

1 answer
Miz M K
Miz M K

Hi Ncoll,
First and foremost did you use the Miele Delicates Wash - i.e. the liquid wash which should be used for wool items? The temperature setting on the wool cycle is changed very easily - the default setting is 30 degrees - I use 20 degrees for all my hand knitted jumpers. When you have selected the wool program, press the temperature button and then scroll down to 20 degrees using the down arrow and then confirming with ok.
If you use the Miele Delicates Wash and set the temperature at 20 degrees you should have no problems.

Hi Angela R,
I also have a WKH130WPS but have not heard of this happening. Could you enlighten me please as to what exactly you are doing. Are you using the "Maintenance Program" (found on " Further Programs"). The only thing which could possibly be happening is that your dispenser drawer is not properly closed or the filter door, etc at the bottom left hand side of the machine is also not securely closed.
Have you contacted Miele Service? They should be able to help you.

Hi Miz MK yes I leave it empty put it onto further programs and clean machine, it comes up as maintenance and 1hr 29mins, part way through the cycle the floor is flooded and there are water runs down the front of the machine looks like it is originating from the dispenser drawer. This has happened since new which only since May this year. Double checked the dispenser drawer is closed properly and have checked the filter as well to make sure not blocked. Only used twin dos in the machine so the dispenser shouldn't be blocked. On.y time used powder is to clean the machine. Problem is the hygiene alert stays on the machine as the cycle never gets to finish.

Hi Mark I am sorry I can not help you here my Miele washing machine I am very disappointed with and even though my machine is only about 3 months old I am considering getting rid of it and buying a LG machine prior the Miele I had an LG for over 10 years and not a problem and a very easy machine to use the Miele is very hard on your cloths we are now back to hand washing the bras as the machine kills them very quickly plus the wash cycles are way to long, not a good machine. The LG is a 3rd of the price of the Miele and 3 times better than the Miele.

Hi Mark,
I live in Melbourne where the water is very soft. You can adjust the TwinDos dosage using the Settings. I did this thinking that may be the reason for my terrible experience with the machine. Alas, no. I have had the same experience as Gavin.

I also called Miele about this oversuddsing issue and the gentleman on the phone informed me that "I should only wash my cheap clothing until the machine is fixed, and if I was ANYTHING LIKE HIM that wouldn't be a problem because nothing he owned was over $12".

Wow. Here's a tip Miele - if I only had clothes that were $12 I wouldn't have bought a Miele washing machine....................

Great luxury brand customer service right there.

Hi all. I have the WKG130 and had a couple of questions for people in Australia (specifically Melbourne) using this machine. I've noticed the water temperature and spin settings can be quite high on some cycles. Some clothes are not gathering pilling and feel like cardboard when removed from the machine when washed on the correct setting with the TwinDos soap. Has anyone experience similar? Is everyone using the standard settings or customised settings for socks, underwear, pjs etc. Even new, good quality cotton t-shirts are looking sad and feel like a tablecloth.

Hi Natalie,
There are some items which should not be washed using the TwinDos Ultra Phase 1 and Ultra Phase 2. I have a WKH 130WPS (TwinDos, Power Wash and Cap) which I have had for over twelve months now. You do not need to use that default temperature slavishly - if you think that something needs a lower temperature just reduce the temperature by scrolling down after pushing the " temperature" button. Similarly, if you think that the spin speed might be too high, reduce it in exactly the same way as you would the temperature setting. Also, are you using fabric conditioner? If not, I would definitely recommend that you use the Miele fabric conditioner.
Trust this assists.
