Reasonably good car would be better if warranty work could be done
I took delivery of a new Mitsubishi ASX on 30 October 2013 and it went in for a 1500km service on 25 Mayember 2013 where it was found that the RH mirror assembly needed replacement. On 13 December 2013 I contacted the dealer to ascertain progress on the replacement and was told that it would probably not happen this year. (I accept that the dealer cannot replace the part until the manufacturer provides it). I then emailed Mitsubishi stating that this was not good enough and pointing out that given the Christmas/New Year break it could conceivably be towards the end of January 2014 before this warranty work was carried out. To date (18 December 2013) Mitsubishi has not responded.

July 2014 Is your RH mirror fixed now ?
Update No 2: After Mitsubishi said that the car was purchased "as is" and rejected my claim I made a further submission as to why they should accept liability. With strong support from the dealer's se... Read more
rvice manager I was then advised that the problem was fixed on the 2014 model and that Mitsubishi would fit a set of these mirrors to my vehicle. Problem solved and am now happy with the vehicle.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

NOT SO SQUEESY
I have only had it for 2 weeks ASX Aspire MY14 ... Like some of the other reviews i also had as a previous car a Mazda 3 hatch. Wont knock the hatch but the ASX drives beautiful. It is a real pleasure just to go for a drive, even if only to the local shops. The leather seats that i thought might be a problem because when i went on a test drive they felt a bit too hard, have turned out to be very comfortable on my first long drive ( 2 hrs). Today it was raining off and on as we came home from a drive in the country and the auto wipers worked a treat. Sitting up high, quiet on the road, briliant GPS, i just love the car... really value for money.......

Great Car and Fantastic Value
Have owned this vehicle for 6 months now after trading my Mazda 3 Hatch (never again Mazda!). The ASX is a well put together car that does the job well and with Japanese quality and attention to detail. My fuel economy is under 8l/100km on the petrol model. It fits 4 adults with ease and leg room in the rear seats is much better than my old Mazda. The Dog has plenty of room in the boot as well! All in all very happy with my decision.
Height when driving, Quality, Fuel Economy
Front seats not the most adjustable to be honest.

2014 ASX Asire DID.Great Car!!
I just purchased the 2014 ASX Aspire DiD Auto and we love it. I'd def. suggest giving it a test drive and come to your own conclusions. I like the feel of the Diesel engine and the fuel economy is great! The Interior is well styled with a great amount of features added, probably better then most vehicles in the same class as far as features go from what i found. I've never owned a Mitsubishi before this one and have to say that I'm really happy with my purchase!
All the features you get for the money!
If you are looking for a full size SUV this is NOT it!

Great so far.
I bought the ASX 2.2 diesel about a month ago, it's now due for it's 1500 klm service - no problems so far. We looked at the Aspire but opted for the base model as we have no use for most of the options in the Aspire. I was surprised that the basic model doesn't have basic accessories like a glove box light, but has auto folding mirrors and a reversing camera, very strange. That said, the ASX is very well made and finished and for $29990 drive away was excellent $value... Unfortunately the 2.2 diesel is only available in auto, this is t...Read more
he only auto we have ever had, we are getting used to it but still would have preferred a manual transmission. Manual transmissions are fast becoming a thing of the past, no doubt due the motoring scribes criticisms. The ASX is a relatively small car with a high output diesel motor - that means it has plenty of get up and go, and I mean 'Plenty'. Cornering and braking are up to par, remembering it has a high centre of gravity and is not meant for racing around a track, but for everyday driving it fits the bill well. A high seating position gives excellent visibility and the reversing camera helps out when reversing; however, the warning beep is all but inaudible. I love the very, very firm front seats, only car that has never given me a sore back. The back seats are also very firm and I dare say probably a little uncomfortable for most people. First tank returned 7.2 LP100 and the second returned 6.5: Not the claimed 5.8, but respectable none the less. Manufacturers claims are usually very difficult to achieve. When alighting from the ASX, an audible crack can be heard and the resulting static electrical shock is quite unnerving. This is the third Mitsubishi we have owned and all three have had the same build up, seems to be an extra Mitsubishi build in - not quite free of charge. Very happy so far - hope we still will be in a few years time. Seats.Torque, Fuel economy and pretty well everything else. No glove box light seems odd, but that is certainly no cause for a criticism.3 comments
We’ve managed to put a few klm on the new ASX diesel and here’s how it went: People buy diesels for a number of reasons: fuel economy and tow ability being chief among the positives, for others it... Read more
’s simply a matter of preference. We decided on the ASX for all of those reasons, it was unfortunate that the 2.2 diesel was only available in auto, annoying but something we could live with. It does strike me as a little odd though, coupling a diesel engine with an auto transmission, once you do make that coupling at least one of those factors will be affected. Previously we have owned a Cruze, an I30, a couple of Hiluxes, and a Scat all with diesel engines. All had manual transmissions, had good towing ability and were very frugal to run and of course both my wife and myself much prefer them to petrol engined cars. Since taking delivery of the ASX we’ve used it as daily transport as well as for towing an 1100 kg Jayco camper which it does extremely well. It is our first auto so we’re still getting used to it; however, we still find ourselves fishing around for the clutch pedal or gear lever on the odd occasion. Around town the ASX diesel performs well, changing up earlier than normal, the diesel engine usually staying within the peak torque curve and delivering excellent fuel economy – around 6 LP 100. Cruising on the highway with the Jayco behind is effortless. It does have one annoying feature though: negotiating hills at around 100kph will see the transmission change down the engine spinning at over 3000rpm,.well out of it’s peak performance curve. Engaging cruise control and locking the transmission in top ensures the engine stays within it’s peak torque curve. When engine and road speed slow the auto behaves in a normal manner and changes down. Fuel economy does suffer a little with the Jayco behind, depending on conditions we’ve achieved a best of 8.2 and a worst of 9.8, so all in all we’re very happy.tongleh, you got your base model for a high price it seems. Top Class Car
I originally hired one of these a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty good. 2 years on we've bought a 2012 model for ourselves and we're very pleased. Its good on fuel, a smooth ride, plenty of room for a kids buggy in the boot and has enough gadgets inside to keep you busy. I looked at many suv's and this fitted the bill very well. Car Interior space, fuel consumption and price dictated our final decision for buying this car. 2 thumbs up from me!!
Good on fuel
Not all electric window switches on the interior door light up. Hard to see when dark.

We have had our 2013 ASX for 3 years, bought second hand. It makes very random dinging noises. We have had the mechanic have a look and check the computers etc. and he can't find anything wrong. No warning lights appear. Any ideas of what this could be please?
2 answers
I suggest you take it to a Mitsubishi mechanic to check it out. They're more likely to have come across it before.
All alarms should be displayed on the info screen between the speedo and tachometer.
Do the normal warning get displayed on startup? (seat belt, routine maintenance, parking sensors etc)
