I love my car!!!
Out of all the SUVs available on the market, the mitsubushi Asx must be at the top of your list! At such an affordable price it just can't be beaten.. the interior is nice & roomy so would suit baby/children plus has roomy boot space for the groceries. Have done two longer voyages where it handled itself beautifully plus is perfect for whipping around town as still quite compact to get into those car parks:) honestly could not recommend a better suv for the single or growing family :) buy a mitsi today!

Good Value
When I started looking for a SUV to replace my 2003 Nissan X-Trail I listed essential features that I wanted in an SUV. This included having good ground clearance, sufficient load carrying capacity and a flat load area when the rear seats are folded down, improved fuel economy, good engine power and a proven reliability record. Ideally would like 4WD/AWD but happy to settle for 2WD.
The winner was a used 2015 XC Mitsubishi ASX with 35000 kms and I couldn’t be happier. I looked at others including the Nissan Dualis (rear seating was too smal...Read more
l), Holden Cruze and Hyundai IX35 (both with mixed reviews regarding the engine and not enough ground clearance). Space inside the ASX is good and with the ability to raise or lower the driver’s seat height and adjust the steering column, it is easy to achieve a comfortable driving position. Rear seating is good and comfortably seats adults. I love the climate control, cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity which was simple to setup. The vehicle is good to drive, feels solid on the road and runs quiet when coasting around town or on the highway. The engine and CVT auto transmission work well to keep up with traffic flow. The CVT does step up into higher gear/ratio quickly and when approaching steep hills a firmer press on the accelerator is required to step it down. I drive in moderate traffic and have been able to return about 9.5 l/100km. This is good when compared to the Nissan X-Trail which used to do 12.5l/100km. The ASX at highway speed of 110km the engine runs at 1900 RPM and is fairly quite. On a recent highway trip while driving the average fuel consumption dropped to 6.5l/100km according to the trip computer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent value for money
If you are searching for a cheap SUV, with low maintenance costs, low running costs, reasonable technology and extras you can't miss a test drive of the asx.
It packs a whole lot of value for the price and offers excellent value for money. Whilst feeling a bit stiff and cheap on the interior, it is pragmatic and reasonable. drives smoothly and handles well.
You need to be realistic with what you want to purchase. If you want luxury and extreme comfort this isn't it. But if you want reliability, cheap costs and a stylish exterior then the asx is punching well above its weight.

Disappointing
Bought a Mitsubishi ASX too of range. Disappointed in lack of luxuries for a top of range SUV. Only driver seat has auto seat controls. No air con vent for passengers in back seat. Very basic for what you pay. Nice handling and style. But is very let down with lack of features associated with top of the model. Should of got a Jeep. For same price features far out weigh what i got with ASX.

A good honest car.
We bought the ASX mainly because our previous car had become too difficult to get in and out of. Due to our age and mobility problems, we needed car that had much easier access, and after trying all available makes of small SUV's, we found the ASX suited us the best. Being the first car we have had with CVT transmission, we found it had a different feel when driving, but we got used to it very quickly and find it an easy car to drive. We have been surprised at how comfortable the ride is, the front seats are excellent, even on a long run. Pe...Read more
rformance wise we find it more than adequate, cruising easily at the speed limits with ample reserve power for passing. Fuel economy is acceptable, we have averaged around 8.4 L/100km (mixed driving conditions) since we bought it. This model has been around for about 10 years, and has been kept up to date with regular upgrades, so I expect it to be a reliable vehicle with all the bugs ironed out. Previous Mitsubishis we have owned (2x Magna and 1xLancer) were extremely reliable. We bought the base model, which we found had all the features we needed, A/C, 18" mag wheels, touchscreen, bluetooth etc. etc. Value wise it was excellent, $25000 on the road with auto, I think it is available at that price still. We are very happy with our ASX and find it roomy, comfortable, reliable, fairly priced and cheap to own. The only minor thing I can criticise is that the engine is pretty loud under heavy acceleration.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic
Great small SUV that is very comfortable to drive with good vision, I especially like the reversing camera and have found it to be a very economic vehicle with good performance and handling. Would agree with some other reviews which mention the material on the arm rests and console seem to get dirty quickly.

Love my new ASX
The car handles really well and the shaped seats hug you and I find even with a bad back they are very comfortable, even driving long distances. Being able to adjust the height of the drivers seat is very handy. Good fuel economy and has the power to pass vehicles when I need it. Cruise control and steering wheel gadgets very easy to find and use. There is plenty of leg room in the front and even in the back which was a contributing factor when I purchased it. Field of vision is excellent. Like the big screen reversing camera once you get used t...Read more

love my ASX
Economy is really good on long distance driving.
I find car very comfortable and experience no fatigue as i did driving long distances with my previous car Honda Jazz. Versatility for height adjustment is good on drivers seat.
Plus getting in and out of car is awesome as the height is much better for me.
Cars in general are quite low but this car with larger wheels give me a slightly higher ride which is much more comfortable.
I also find having the large Wheels easy to mount kerbs when required.
Handsfree phone access is fantastic..
Easy to make and receive calls remotely through bluetooth.

MY LAST NEW CAR
Performance and handling are excellant, there is quite a bit of road noise from tyres and some wind noise. I hope that when i replace the tyres with Coopers or a like quality product the noise will be reduced. The interior is generally well laid out with controls readily accessible. The audio,GPS, bluetooth is poor. It is a difficult system to learn, the GPS is of poor quality and functionality compared to a Tom Tom. The cruise control has no memory and has to reset everytime. The keyless system often will not allow you to lock the car unless ...Read more
the wheels are straight. There is a huge heat wall over the dash and is very noticable to anyone who sits close to the steering wheel. So reliability, except for door locking, has been very good as have running costs. Over all a very good car with just a few little annoying short comings. Very happy with its comfort and performance.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good car for the price
Having been virtually forced into buying an additional vehicle for my wife becuase our Ford Focus is just downright dangerous (even if Ford has chosen to fight the class action against their Powershift transmissions and ignore thousands of their customers), we looked to buy a small sedan like an i30 or Kia Cerato. But the sub $20k price was for the base models with smaller engines and not too many features.

We traded a Toyota in for the ASX and the Mitsubishi drives sweet, a lovely pleasant experience. We are impressed with the room inside and the comfort. Great for grandchildren. Perfect height to step in and out of and a lovely interior and pearl white exterior finish. This is our second ASX and we are hoping the model continues.

Response to road noise and general issues
This vehicle is used for dual purpose and a 2nd vehicle which has not long completed it's 1st 15k service. It's used for occasional beach & easy off road driving but the majority of time is for road trips and around town. I found the road noise very noticeable, particularly on the more course bituman roads. As I only use it now and then I always notice the noise when I 1st drive it, but I do get accustomed to it after a short period. I may try and change tyres in the future. It is otherwise comfortable for myself and family to use on the beach...Read more
, around town and on the odd long trips. I have had several Mitsubishi's over the last 12 yrs - Pajero's and a Lancer - and found them to be very reliable, so far this has been the same. The road noise was also noticeable in a 2005 ES Lancer as well, so I believe it is problem with sound suppression in the more basic models as I had no problem with Pajero's I have owned in the past. The glove box also had a problem closing on the left side latch(main latch ok) it was adjusted at the 15k service and has been ok since. The 2.3L diesel is well powered for long trips and cruise control holds pretty good when used between 80-115kmh. It only got between 6.7-7.8L /100km's for a long trip on highway though(1600km's), so not quite as good as advertised. I believe it is affected by weight(320kg+ at times - people and luggage) and any significant headwind.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Road noise plus a few further comments
Some time ago I posted some information I thought might be helpful to those of you interested in purchasing or reading information on the ASX. My vehicle is now over 18 months old and has covered over 55,000K. My last post centred around road noise transmitted through the original Dunlop SP tyres into the cabin space. After 20,000K I got fed up with the drone noise especially whilst travelling over courser bitumen surfaces. After some investigation and counsel from some motoring/tyre experts I changed the tyres over to Michelin Primacy 3ST. Thi...Read more
s has helped but not as much as I had hoped. I feel the basic noise intrusion problem relates to the fact that the car's makers have skimped on sound deadening throughout the vehicle allowing road noise to be more easily transmitted. As I grow older I'm not sure if my hearing has changed, but there seem to be certain sound frequencies, especially emanating from tyre noise that I find pretty uncomfortable. To my way of thinking, a well made and designed car will have inbuilt features that help to curb these frequencies in order to enable the driving experience to be a pleasant one regardless of the bitumen surface. I'm told that Mitsubishi don't road test tyres here in Australia; it's all done in Japan. If correct, pity that, because it seems that the car designers and engineers have missed a very important principal, and that is to test the car in the country it's being imported to and investigate if it lives up to the standards of design the car manufacturer's originally intended. Having stated the above, overall I very much like the car motor's diesel performance and auto gearbox. It's torque is quite something to experience as is it's acceleration. I regularly tow a 700KG boat easily and in the wet beach sand 4WD in either of its 2 modes is fantastic. Economy averages around the 6-6.5LTRS per 100KS but increases to average around 10.5 LTRS per 100KS with the boat on the back, so not all that miserly on the diesel when towing. It has always started first try, all electrics work well including the adjustable headlights when weight in placed on the tow bar. Had a few issues with my blue tooth/phone connection but maybe need to study the book a bit more. I've found the seats are firm yet comfortable and I can drive for 2 hours without the necessity to stop and stretch. Good leg room in the front but in the back, room is more restricted. Boot space is sufficient and folding rear seats make way for a lot more room if necessary. Space saver spare tyre is disappointing especially in a 4WD. So... in summary lots to like, some things like cabin noise... mmm! Would be interested to read other owner's comments to see if I am the problem ie my ears, or not. July 9th 2017 Update: ASX Update review (for those interested) Hi, just an update further to my comments on December last year, concerning my ASX 4WD diesel. I've now done 73,000ks and it hasn't missed a beat. The Michelin tyres I changed over to (see my comments re: the original Dunlop tyres) are wearing well, now having done around 50,000Ks. The key to good tyre wear is having them regularly rotated and kept at recommended pressures. Internally, noise levels have dampened somewhat with the tyre change, but not substantially. Engine noise levels are also higher than they probably ought to be, but I guess one grows accustomed to this after a while. I still love the power and torque of the little diesel : this is probably the greatest redeeming feature of the car. I also love the 4WD set up, where, by the push of a button one can immediately change from 2WD to 4 ... on the go. Beautiful ! As earlier indicated, I've not had one electrical or mechanical issue, oh yes, one, the glove box door had to be re-aligned in order to properly close. The paint work and body remain nicely intact and still look new. One other positive is the fuel usage: if driven modestly I can get 5:4 litres per 100 ks which is slightly less than specified usage of 5.8 litres per 100 ks. With the foot down a bit more and a head wind, expect around 6.5 to 7 litres per 100 ks. While I'm still reasonably happy driving the ASX I'm sure the time will ultimately come when a decision will need to be made as to whether or not I'll update. So long as Mitsubishi fail to rectify the road noise intrusion into the cabin situation by taking steps similar to those by Mazda with their CX5, they won't have in me, a repeat customer. Pity that, as the ASX has a lot going for it. January 6th 2022 Update: ASX Update review (for those interested)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Design flaws
-The car handles well but very noisy while driving. Acceleration sluggish and not responsive
-Glove box doesn't close properly and dealership tried to fix it but still an issue. Rear seat belt buckles are very hard to reach and nearly impossible to close by a child. \poor quality and design
- Fuel consumption 30% higher then advertised and shown at the brochure
After all the car does not full fill my expectations and I would never buy this again, not for this price anyway. Bad quality and over priced.

Quite good value. But!
Reasonable value for price. Quite comfortable. Good legroom. Drives well. Better acceleration than the diesel. Soundproofing could be better. The space saver tyre is useless in Australia. Why should you have to pay extra for a full size spare when one could be in it anyway at next to no extra cost. The dash head set bluetooth software is shocking. Even a Note 4 phone which is a tested phone listed in the Mitsubishi "link" website does not pair with the set. And our ipod sometimes pairs, and sometimes does not. Look Around
The SUV is small in inside and the boot very small. It is suited to about town, its pick up is ok. As for having a moon roof and black/grey leather seats do not leave it open when its parked in the sun or you will burn your back. These moon roofs while at night might look good, but when its a very hot day a waste of time. Do not get one, its looked very outdated inside, and there is up grade coming, as to what it will look like wait and see. The finish feels lacking
As for the ride its alright handles well but its not like the OUTLANDER, YES...Read more

Joke...
Takeoff speed is terrible - put your foot down & there is a lot of noise with little movement. Mitsubishi claim 'the computer can't find anything wrong, so it is fine.' The computer doesn't drive it on the road.
It requires a 150M minimum gap to join the motorway from a standing start. It just can't build the speed quick enough for anything less.
The doors can & have been unlocked from about 50M - inside the house without knowing it had been opened. As the car is then unlocked, insurance won't cover anything stolen or damaged. Nothing wrong...Read more

Paint is so thin
The car drives very well. Very economical. Very comfortable city or country driving.
The scariest issue with this car is the very thin paint. It's undercover day and night and has only done a couple of gravel roads and yet it has a lot of scratches and chips which you can barely feel but go straight down to white undercoat. Never had a car which damages so easily. PLUS I paid for ceramic paint protection. It really scares me for resale value.

If it's the same as my 2012 one, there should be a ring below the headlight controls on the right.
Before driving a new car, you should study the owners manual. I always go through it with a highlighter. There is potential danger in not knowing how your vehicle operates.

Hi guys, only had my car brand new for a month and it has just started locking itself about 30 seconds after I exit. It hasnt done this previously. Anyone know why? Thanks

I have a 2022 black edition and have not had that problem...possibly ring the dealer service department where you purchased the vehicle and ask if this is normal on your model...
Don't worry yet. Check with your dealer. It could be an added extra feature. Many cars in Japan do that routinely as a safety precaution - same as the side mirrors closing when you lock and engines stopping when you stop at lights to save fuel. Be careful with latter - can use up your battery..
