Forgot to put radiator cap back on 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer and it overheated and stopped. Lifted bonnet to find steam coming out of radiator. Car drives but stalls when I put my foot on the brake ever since overheating it. What could be the problem?

Not sure what you mean by procedure, if your talking about removing and refitting the radiator its the same "procedure" for both CE and CG lancers to remove and fit new radiator, only different would be the extra job of disconnecting the auto transmission lines on the radiator, (which should only add max 5-10 mins to the job) that only applies if you have an automatic transmission fitted, hope that answer helps.
For cost call a few radiator shops and get quotes or join aussie lancer car club such as Auslancer.com which is a great source of information about early lancers.

Do i need to have a programmed key for a 2001 Mitsubishi lancer or can i use a normal key?

Hi Johnny. I have called Mitsubishi Australia Morphettvale & they told me that the key has to be a programmed key. It has an immobilizer receiver microchip that lines up with the car.
Good part is they minimize car theft.
