I have a 2001 Magna, 3.5 auto, idling at lights and stalled, have spark and fuel, good compression, oil water good, replace ecu, Ben and ignition, second hard but all from same. Car turns over nicely simply won’t start. Have mechanics look at still no joy. Any ideas!

I use Reliable Automatics and Automotive in Albion, Brisbane. Sounds like the mechanics you use are pretty sub standard.

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi magna executive V6...out of the blue it has very sponaniously stalled at a round about and making a right hand turn. Also when I drive it it sounds like it will stall..I have had a service on it the throttle body cleaned and idle adjusted and a new distributor put in.
My mechanic said could be the crank angle sensor but will cost me $100 to replace..what else could be the cause??

It sounds like the "mechanic" hasn't done correct or effective adjustments when doing the previous work. It ain't no coincidence this has happened after he worked on it. I wouldn't go back to him.
Ask around the traps and seek three or four recommendations for another mechanic.
This issue happened 3 weeks ago.. I then took it to the mechanic and he serviced the car and done a throttle body clean but still playing up..he then changed the distributor as it was leaking oil...I took it to a different mechanic last week but he couldn't find any issues at all...no error codes either..
Sounds like a blocked catalytic converter to me, some people replace them and others clean them out with a crowbar if you know what I mean.

if the shift is stuck and not going backwars or forwards, then there will be a broken component in the locking mechanism.possibly a spring mechanism. im assuming the shift is in the middle in which case u cant start car either. Thats a bugger. some mechanics who know about magnas might come to your place other wise its a tow job to the workshop.

Do you mean while it's locked and parked up? If so it's most likely one of the door sensors is sticking causing the car to think someone's opened the door, setting off the alarm. All i had to do was remove the rubber cover from the door sensor on mine.
But tbh i stopped locking it, i just don't leave anything valuable inside anymore. Had a bad run with windows being smashed (3 at $400 each), I realised there's never $400 worth of valuables in there anyway! Let alone the $1200 cost i'm now up to. . . .
Its the trip time clock about to roll over. gets to 19.59 as I recall then rolls over to 00.00. Had me for foxed for months before I worked that out.

Hey there, The first thing you should do is take it into your mechanic & get your transmission and gear box checked out just in case there are any faults.
Do you get it serviced and checked regularly?

Check the fluid filter and fluid level and make sure fluid is bright red in color

Hi I have a great 2002 Advance, 160,000 kms, had to do transmission oil leaks, but the only negative is that it leaks badly at the font bulkhead. Screen has been fixed, but it still leaks, so that front pass. floor can get centimetres of water, & when a lot, it flows to the rear too.
Several shops have tried to fix it ( vegetation cleared out, etc ), but it's not just that. It seems that perhaps a vent hole, in the top, where the water flows from the screen, is open ( maybe lost its covering ), & water from the screen is not following the right path to be drained from the car. Taking out the screen & looking at it all will cost about $ 800, but I don't think its the screen seal that's the main issue - there's something wrong with the catchment "pond "under the bonnet & ahead of /on tool of the bulkhead.

Would like to help however, our Magna has never had this issue or any other for that matter. I could refer you to my mechanic otherwise not too sure how to help

Hi Jim, I can’t help with a solution but I feel your pain, my TJ has this issue in severe rain although it does have 275000km behind it and has lived it’s whole life outdoors...try that with a VL. Anyway, I too don’t see any obvious cause after clearing out what I can. curious to see what suggestions you get.

600 give or take. Won't get that in city stop start but easy done on open road without a big load and taking it easy on overtaking capers.

I have the same problem,,,,,,It also happened several years ago... The Ignition keys had to replaced as the computor security didn,t recognise the keys... Last week .Started only after many attempts and started all day.....After sitting all night...same problem next day.......Auto electrician cannot read any computor codes.. The security warning was flashing 16 times after starting.........More tests and options tomorrow....19/6/17
