Surprisingly Delegate and Economical Hatchback Ever
Mitsubishi Mirage is the world's most fuel efficient car in the hatchbacks with out any electric motor battery, it gives more than 40 MPG drive range on highway and more than 27 MPG in the City which makes it a Economical hatchback car ever. Decent to drive explore more with the 2016 Mitsubishi Mirage.

Very good and reliable
We've had this car for nearly a year now without any problems. Performance is not bad for such a little engine and handling is good. The inside is roomier than it looks and looks well finished. I've sat in the back seat and had plenty of legroom. We have been driving Mitsubishi cars since 1972 and find them reliable and getting better all the time.

It is a perfect City/Suburban runabout.
Purchased this car as the town runabout. Did a lot of research and there were plenty of professional motoring writers with negative or you can buy better cars reviews.
I think they must be driving a Merc then getting into the Mirage experience. My experience is it is a perfect town car, school pick up car and fit into any car space car. It is very good. Our top of the range LS model was only $13990 D/A and is well speed with standard inclusions like cruise control, privacy glass, bluetooth for mobile phone calls and music streaming and cli...Read more

Awesome little car
I have had my Mirage for nearly a year now, and I haven't had any problems so far.
I read someones review saying there's a lack of cabin space, but I'm 187cm with long legs. I can sit in the drivers seat, then get in the seat behind and still have plenty of leg room. I folded the back seats down and after removing the parcel shelf, I was able to pick up a brand new 55 inch tv with my little Mirage.
It has creature comforts like auto lights, auto wipers, and you never need to take your keys out of your pocket.
It costs me about $35/fortnight ...Read more
to travel to and from work. I only live 15 minutes away, but it's still cheap. The only con would be that first gear has a bit of a high ratio, which leads to the clutch needing to be ridden a bit. This isn't really a problem though because driven right, you can still beat most drivers at the traffic lights lol.

Good little car
This car is excellent for learner drivers or those that have trouble with manual cars.
Pros:
The gearbox is easy to use and the clutch has a long distance between the friction point and stalling. The car also has good consumption rates and the tight turning circle and light steering make it easy to fit into tight spots. It is also quite inexpensive but still has the important safety features (airbags, ABS, etc.). This car also has Bluetooth, air-conditioning, powered windows, 5 star AN CAP rating, powered steering, etc.
Cons:

2014 Mirage review
12 months of owning a 2014 Mirage, used daily to work, with a few minor issues:
Door unlock remote stopped working after 4 months, dealer replaced at first service.
Evidence of rust in the engine bay, will show dealer at next service.
Gentle knock from accelerator pedal heard/felt occasionally (usually within first few minutes of start up).
USB connector in glove-box, not very user friendly location.
Bluetooth hands free performs well, phone pairing is a snap.
Cruises at 100km/hr comfortably.
Conclusion: Cheap economical motoring simple and effective, built for purpose to get from A to B.

Awesome little car :)
Purchased brand new LA LS hatchback a few months ago, very impressed so far
Pros:
Extremely cheap to run (only 1.2L 3cyl, approx 500km off 25L fuel)
Cheap to service with capped price servicing ($240 a year if i remember correctly)
Plenty of power considering its only a 3cyl car
All the flashy features bluetooth with voice control, climate control, cruise control, electronic power steering, power windows etc
5 star ANCAP rating so very VERY safe
Pretty big boot for a hatchback (way bigger than my old yaris)

Very happy with new Mirage
Have had my new Mirage now for 4 weeks 2014 MY15, upgraded from a 1998 model. Base model ES CVT has all the safety gear and connectivity you would need, voice control for phone calls works perfect every time, fairly perky performance for a tiny motor, heaps of room inside, picked mine up for 15k, blue with wheel and wing package, 5yr warranty, 4yr capped price servicing and 4yr roadside assist + 3yr free car wash :] Bargain!!!!!

What a suprise
I test drove a Manual ES model today and even though the salesmen had to teach me how to drive manual before I could drive it I court on quickly and really enjoyed it for $12,990 it was a fantastic deal. Before driving it the Toyota salesmen told me how cheap and rubbish it was but after he drove it he knew it was a winner. My only problem I've got an Automatic license but I will definitely be getting a manual one asap.

New Mirage Much Better Than Expected
I am a fan of 3 cylinder cars for their eager and thrifty performance. The new mirage I test drove was a CVT auto and took off from standing still to 80km/h very quickly on a main major city road. The ride and handling were more than adequate for a compact city light car and the brakes were arresting. The motor has a distinct sporty note that Daihatsu owners would be familiar with. The interior is large and the seats are very comfortable. Only standard unleaded fuel is required meaning further fuel bowser savings. The pricing is also keen in the marketplace.
A true modern economy car, takes over from where Daihatsu left off

Sad decline of a once great car company (2014 Mirage)
Mitsubishi, what have you done? And more importantly, what have we done to deserve this sad excuse for a hatchback? This car was brought by my sister 2 months ago, so I took the time to make a review. The Mirage of yesteryear used to be one of the best hatchback you could have brought: Zippy, Sporty, Good looks and value for money. You would think that having known all this, Mitsubishi would have done the same with the new model... No... Everything about a successful hatchback was thrown out the window and quickly slapped together a dreary, bor...Read more
ing cheap car. The dashboard is made from melted down McDonalds toys, Seats pulled straight from 1995, and the engine is that of a remote control HotWheels. You would think that Mitsubishi would have put some effort into making this, with sales declining across the globe (Down 15% in the USA from the previous year which was also quite low). Looking at the Mitsubishi range it's not hard to see why no one is taking any interest; Dull designs, over priced and no value for money. If you are thinking about buying the new Mirage, stop for a moment and consider this. For the same $$ or a bit more you can get yourself a Ford Focus, Fiat 500 or a Nissan Pulsar. It would probably be cheap to run and thats it. Woeful engine performance. Boring design. Cheap interior, not an improvement of the older Mirages.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Grab a bargain
I was looking for a good low kms used car (small) as my daughter is on her L plates. Many of these used cars were in the 13 to 14K price bracket. I then saw Mitsubishi advertising the new Mirage for 12,990 drive away. This was for a manual however. The auto is 14K or over. However at Northshore Mitsubishi I took the Mirage for a test drive and was impressed straight away. They offered me an automatic for 13K and this included 5 years warranty and fixed price servicing for the first 4 services. This is a great little car, easy to drive with all ...Read more
the mod cons. It looks really small on the outside but you would be surprised at the leg room in the back seat even for tall adults. Why would you buy a small used car with deals and service like this? Good looking, miserly on fuel consumption, well equipped for the price and comfortable.Similar opinion? Nice - Looking
I took 1 for a test drive today, on paper this car is excellent value, it drove ok, up to 60kh a slight vibration on take off, this version is the LS CVT, the seats are very comfortable the climate control superb, and as I said up to 60kh it was almost smooth, it just felt a little unsteady at times. On the highway the body roll was scary, so this car is perfect for the city dweller, I wouldn't buy 1.
Seats very comfortable, climate control awesome, warrenty and service 5 yrs and the capped price is 250 every year for 4 years.
Body roll, engine noise, vibration at start and take off, and bootsize.

Great car for the money
I picked a Sport manual one of these last week as a city runabout. I think I was lucky to get it for $10,990 on the road with 32kms on the odometer. I was going to get a second hand 5 door Yaris, but for a few thousand more I got this new car with 5 years warranty and fixed price servicing for 4 years.
It is clear this is not a performance car but for my needs, being a city runabout and second car for the family, it is perfect. Loads of relevant features (Bluetooth and audio streaming most relevant) and 5 star safety. The voice recognition e...Read more
ven works every time (which is more I can say for the 2010 BMW I recently sold and the new CX5 I recently purchased). It sips on fuel and achieves about 2L more per 100kms than stated, though it is new and most of my trips are less than 10kms and 20 mins. Before getting this car I test drop the Up!. Very nice car, better to drive and better interior but did not justify the $15,000 for a 5 door. The Alto has a worse interior than the Mirage with a drive to match. The Nissan was very good but $2,000 more with less features. I highly recommend this car to those who need a city runabout that is feature packed and do not want the hassles of a second hand car. You get what you pay for but in this instance you get a lot. Lets not forget that a Chery J1 was only $1,000 less than I paid for this car. Price, features, fuel economy, 5 doors, fixed price servicing. Hard plastics in the interior. No reach adjustment for steering wheel.2 comments

Great for the money 2013 ES
It's a good buy and very cheap to run! 4.6 to 5.5 lt per hundred on a 80km round trip to work. Don't like the clutch or the very light steering but everything else is good. Gearbox not the best but can live with the 5 speed it may loosen up with age. It does 100kmh plus easy and is perfect.

Great value
I don't really understand why the critic reviews on this car are so bad. My experience with the 2013 model of this car is that it is great value. In the base model I bought you get pretty much everything including all safety features (airbags, abs, stability control), Bluetooth hands free, iPod connectivity, usb and leather steering wheel. The ride is comfortable and the car is light to drive. The transmission is a bit rough when taking off but once it gets started it's very smooth. It gets up to high speed very easily and handles 100+ speeds s...Read more
moothly and without effort. The stereo is good quality. Its also got a shiny part on top of the stereo which makes it easy to securely attach a mobile phone or gps holder that uses suction cups. The marketing material doesn't do this car justice. In person, it's not anywhere near as girly looking as in the pics. Fuel economy is good but not as good as they claim (5-6L/100km rather than 4.6-4.8). The only annoyance is that the automatic gearbox is not backlit so it's hard to find the right gear in the dark. Great value - Has everything you need, good fuel economy, large side mirrors Auto gearbox is not lit.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's not a Mirage at all - in any shape or form
I have been critical of the Mitsubishi brand for the last few years with the development of cars that are uninspiring and well 'boring' - since owning a Mirage back from early 2000 to 2006 I found that their cars back then were honest and reliable and easily played with to reward those that put in the time and effort with credible additions to make a car that excites the senses.
Anyhow onto the review!

oor - not a Mirage. The old world Mirage sold on reputation and quality workmanship not advertising. When I saw one in the flesh, I though not a Mirage nor a Colt? Its just so small and tacky that I can't discern what car line its from? I walked around the car and poked and prodded and honestly was very disappointed from the vehicle that I saw with such a good name stuck to it. The Mitsubishi Colt was such a better vehicle than this offering that I would still go and buy a old Colt rather than this car, the shape is misplaced, the car has not real lines and its waistline is all over the place. The new car 'Mirage' is undoubtedly a rebadged new world Colt as only the Colts had 5 doors, the Mirage was only ever built with 3 - thats how its been for the last 30 years. If this is the new Colt, the design is a failure to keep with tradition even with that divergent specie of vehicle. If anyone wants a true sporty Colt - look into the Colt Evolution, its an excellent 'sports' hatch thats frugal around town and has plenty to boot! The new Mirage is smaller and undoubtedly lighter and the engine is a breathless 1.2liter 3 cylinder and doesn't even have MIVEC? The Mirage's fuel ratings are also what I would suggest as bland, compared to my old friends 2006 Suzuki Swift - the 1.2L uses as much as the Swifts 1.5L - 4 cylinder, this possibly due to the fact that it has to work harder and consume more fuel to move the car. I also cant understand whats the benefit of 3 cylinders over 4 - also when you pay Rego for a 4cyl car?? This new car has tiny cheese cutter wheels on it, which I can't understand, these wheels are alike to the Suzuki Altos or Barina Spark's. Put this car into some hard maneuvering and I can easily see that it will struggle performance wise and sticking to the black stuff. The interior is what I would say as utilitarian and appealing to Gen Y - I always ask Y does Gen Y like such ugly things? There are two tones plastic panels that feel cheap at best and it gave off a smell that was not appealing - this car needs to be left somewhere to air out for a month! Interior wise its nothing like the old Mitsu's that I appreciated for their simplicity and function...8 comments

Questions & Answers
Shanasked
Hi, I just purchased a 2014 mirage and in trying to figure out why the aircon isn't blowing cold air, I've noticed the radiator fan isn't spinning - that I have seen. I haven't done any long trips in it yet, generally only 10 minute drives so far. My question is, how long should it take for the fan to kick in? I am scared to drive far in case the fan isn't working!
Thank you for any help!
1 answer
Radiator fan should only kick in when it needs to i.e. it won't spin as soon as you turn on the car. It will eventually start spinning when you are stuck in traffic (you'll hear it click on) but shouldn't need to if you're driving in normal conditions as there is enough cooling via the normal airflow over the radiator.
