Pajero NM, NP (2000-2006)

Hi everyone, I need help.
I plugged in a dodgy fridge into the lighter socket on the dash of my 2001 NM Pajero petrol model and blown the heater fuse and lighter fuse.I have replaced the lighter fuse, but unsuccessful in locating the heater fuse.
Could the fuse be one of the black higher amp box fuses under the bonnet and if so,how do I test to see if it is blown?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers guys.

We have a Pajero 2005 it developed a whining noise which appears when slowing down to stop and then just prior to stop it has a loud clunk. We took it to a mechanic who was unable to actually hear the fault as it is intermittent and was decided to replace the transfer box. After less than 500 kms the same noise and clunck has returned. Can anyone help? It is a petrol motor with LPG as well.

Does the fuel pump get damaged if timing chain snaps?

1 answer
Malkie

I'm assuming diesel. i only have a petrol pajero. but i have diesel trucks and tractors. i have never heard of this, i hope sum others reply with more knowledge. worst scenario for a timing chain or belt break is normally valves thru piston tops, leaving holy pistons and bent conrods. it is possible the broken chain could have damaged the pump drive cog? but a lot of pumps are driven off the cam or crank. if you find your answer plse post as it will help others. i will be buying an older 2.8 turbo pajero soon as they scream on recycled cooking oil!!

Probably a dodgy electrical connection on the transfer case. Join the Pajero 4WD Club of Victoria as their forums are invaluable for sorting issues like this. Good luck.

A common glitch in mine too. Just check your fluids and keep working your 4wd low ranges regularly. Make sure you disengage correctly by stopping, then move the shifter out from whatever low range gear you're, in back one at a time, then drive forward slowly, not under load until light blinks out. Then you can drive off in normal gearing. My Pajero did it as well, until I gave it a work out every now and then. Otherwise, the sender needs to be inspected.
