Good vehicle overall, this is my 3rd Pajero. Mitsubishi are very poor on the service/warranty issue, they always pass the buck back to the dealer, instead of dealing with it themselves. A lot of the times the dealerships are not up with the new vehicle technology but isn't on passing it back to the dealers. Mitsubishi, if they are worth their salt should be chasing me up to sort this, but I just keep getting fobbed off at a local level.
Car like driving, very quick point to point vehicle. Excellent fuel economy (8.6L/100Kms). Good off road perf...Read more

I have had 3 Pajero of different models up the NM 3.5 Litre Exceed Auto in white with sand upholstery that I find the best of the bread that I have owned. I am told by older gents in the service industry NOT to let this 4X4 out of my hands. They all say it one of the best and should be maintained without replacement. I must admit I had problems with warped brake disks in past models owned. This one doesn't have that or any long term problems It is probably the best 4x4 I have owned or driven!!
This has to be one of the best vehicles I have ever...Read more

Yes $250 fix but the car is out of action for up to 2 weeks!.
Do NOT use the quoted prices from dealers as you will pay through the neck for restorations.

This will be the first and last Pajero. Should have purchased a Prado. I will not listen to my wife again for it was she who liked the Pajero.
I have a 2004 Pajero Exceed 3200 turbo diesel. It has a great engine and pulls our caravan as though the van is not behind the car. A little heavy on the fuel consumption either with the van connected or without. Has great pick up and going up hills with the van connected (and we have done some big hills on this holiday) feels as though it is a V8. It is a very comfortable vehicle and well appointed.

We intended to purchase a new car this year as we have just purchase our new Corrimal caravan. One thing for sure is it won't be a Mitsubishi.
We have owned a NM series Pajero for 5 years. Over 100,000km towing a caravan throughout Australia. Has never had a major problem.
Service. No major problems with the car however took 3 service visits and 6 months to find out the whineing noise which came in at 60 to 80 kph was a faulty power steering unit. Then there was the inability to return to 2 wheel drive when travelling on the highway. We were to...Read more

Great vehicle. I'm on my third NP 3.2 did
As I said, this is my 3rd NP Exceed & I love these cars. My first one I blew the motor in the NT (dealer put wrong coolant in on service & it blocked the cooling system). We traded in on a new one. Had it for two years then into a motorhome. Now back towing a caravan & you guessed it, another NP Exceed & it is great. Have fitted a 2 3/4" exhaust & it pulls like a truck, love it.
Comfortable, good fuel economy & great to drive.
Expensive to service at dealers, GPS useless (fitted a Fujitsu eclipse), low towing capacity.

is it economic !
if you want economic get either a diesel or stick with a little fiesta lol don't know why people say it's expensive to service??? all dealers are expensive and mines as expensive to service as any other vehicle from the shop I take it to.

Great, great, great! This car is rewarding is driven the right. I'm not a lead foot, I don't trash my car. Therefore, hopefully, this will benefit me and my family in the future. Thank you Mitsubishi!
I just got the 2003 NP Pajero Exceed yesterday and to tell you the truth, it drives like a dream, even though it has just over 130,000km on the clock. Higher vantage point, therefore, you can see pretty much everything. Car like handling, although not as light. What can you say? Its, a 4x4. Luxurious inside. My family will love it. Braking system with the Exceed 3.8L year 2000 Mitsubishi don't know how to fix this problem when alarm sounds in the cabin as i had brake failure soon after alarm sounded... They directed me to go elsewhere to have car repaired because they could not guarantee the repairs... Mitsubishi Knox bad service, no confidence in their technical staff.

We bought a second hand 2001 3.5L V6 Exceed and we just love it. It drives like new and we couldn't be happier with this vehicle. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a decent 4WD at an affordable price. The wife loves driving it too which is surprising because she normally likes to drive smaller vehicles. Very easy and comfortable to drive.
Comfortable, smooth 4WD, well appointed (we have the exceed) plenty of power to tow 6m boat, great turning circle.
Some of the internal trim (plastic) a bit flimsy and a few rattles.

Love this car, I have a 2005 Exceed 3.2 Diesel. Great on long trips loads of room for the kids etc. DVD player is great also for the little ones. Love the heated seats on those cold mornings... I also have a Mitsubishi Challenger LS and not in the same league. Pajero handles really well both on and off the road. Only real issue I have is that the tv/sat system is a load of junk. Mitsubishi should be ashamed.
Great car to drive. Diesel is great on fuel 9L/100km. Sits well on the road and great off road handles like a dream.
one small rattle in the front air vent when opened fully. Other than that great car. The sat nav and tv are a real let down for a car at this price point.

Overall, this is a very quality car which is reliable and long lasting. Have had one for over five years and it still looks as new, and works as new. It is a luxurious but can be used for just about everything - including camping, towing, or just driving around town. Trustworthy vehicle with only a few minor problems with the extra features inside the car but mostly okay.

This is my 9th pajero. Owned landcruisers and hiluxes and for the price you can't compare them. The pajero goes anywhere you point it, and with good tyres, a snorkel, lift kit and winch bar your 4WDing experiences are fantastic! Some issues with lighter runnning gear-but all late model 4WD's have similar problems. And whats broken can be fixed. On the road, comfort is above the rest. Here in NZ, Mitsi service is great. Will keep buying them until toyotas are reasonably priced!

Just an update to the below, as the comment screen disappeared, and I was typing blind!
As I say, I love this car, but there are all sorts of issues that you may want to be aware of:
The stability control turning itself back on once you reach 80 km/h is really annoying on the beach, and indeed dangerous if someone is fair up your date and doesn't expect you to suddenly (and involuntarily!) slow in loose sand, when you should be accelerating.
Fuel consumption for petrol engines is terrible – allow 18 litres per 100 km around town, but a...Read more
pretty good 12 litres per 100 km on the highway; The TV is useless unless you are in direct line of sight under 5km from transmission towers; The CD is (on the 2005 Exceed, anyway) a one disc model (used with the DVD player), and “shuffle” mode always starts with the same songs from the CD. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Reversing camera is a parabolic lens, so it takes a LOT of getting used to;2 comments

A great package, drives well and very good value for money.
It's my third and I'll get the next one too.
Diesel is excellent for economy & power. Tows the boat & trailer as if they arent there, does it easy off road in sand at beachport & steep rocks in the flinders.
Slightly noisier inside compared to the Prado but better economy makes up for it. Turn up the stereo!

We bought a Pajero GLS MY2005 (diesel) last year and it is by far the best vehicle we have ever owned. Our four kids fit in very easily and comfortably. The privacy tints make it a very pleasant and cool car for passengers to travel in. I find it very hard to believe how economical it is to run. Mind you, I would assume that most diesel vehicles are like that. My husband thought it would be noisy to travel in due to the diesel engine but I have to say I have not noticed it at all. I LOVE the fact the rear seats fold into the floor. My husband l...Read more
ikes that because it means the folded seats do not get in the way of his golf clubs. But I like it because it means that even with all four kids in the car, we still have heaps of room to fit the shopping in. Fantastic car. :) Size (7 seats). Privacy tints. Rear seats folding under floor (gives you HEAPS of extra storage room when seats are up). Looks. We have diesel so it is cheap to run. Plenty of room for kids to move around the very rear seats (rather than climb over them which is what they used to do in our old 7 seater pajero). Also can enter from the left side passenger's door which is very handy. Can't think of anything other than the usual rear vision issues that you tend to get with these larger 4WDs. Easily addressed with all the care and attention you should be using with any vehicle.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's a well rounded car. Great for using as a 4WD or towing a small trailer. Roomy inside and comfortable interior. Also has most controls at arms reach.
The height. Its a strong sturdy car and plenty of room.
Hasn't got a lot of grunt. Not that great for towing a heavy horse float.

Just sold my 2003 Pajero. What a piece of junk! Drives like a truck, heavy on fuel, a lot of road noise and broke down on the beach while under warrantee, and had to pay for broken sensor as this is not under warrantee if used on the sand. Just purchased a Ford Territory Ghia drive like a car I just love it I am taking offroad next week. Will send another review.

n Dual fuel or quite complaining, you bought the car its your fault for not looking into things. Type into Google: Gen 3 Pajero petrol fuel usage, THAT'S IT! Territory is a great urban car but don't compare its off road abilities with that of a Pajero, and you are one of the first to say it drives like a truck, it has fantastic on road manners.Similar opinion? Love this vehicle, bought it new in 2001, it has served me well. Plan to keep it for few more years. I would buy another one without hesitation when it is time to update.
Roomy inside for my 3 kids. Good family wagon on and off road. Great for that driving holiday. Only one major problem with 4WD system which Mitsubishi fixed without fuss.
Fuel (petrol) consumption in the city is bit high.

I have Mitsubishi in general for the last 4 years. I had never had any major problems which would change my mind about this car. Great for value and performance. I drove Pajero only 1 year, and very happy with my purchase. A little bit expensive on petrol, but it cost to drive such kind of truck. Found Pajero built better the Toyota RAV4, especially inside plastic. Toyota is too noisy. If you are looking for a big family truck I think the Pajero is reasonable priced and perfectly built one.

Great, practical, good-looking car. Perfect for long trips and in the front you have so much space to yourself you can really stretch out in comfort. I have an Exceed and the luxury touches are smart. Been off-road to some not too crazy spots but it handles everything easily so you just know this can handle the rough stuff.
I'm going to keep this for some time and I'm a fan of Mitsubishi now.

Great car for the price, with parts easily accessible because the cars are made here in Australia. A nice looking and safe 4WD.
This is a very comfortable vehicle to drive, and is especially great for families with young children, as capsules and car seats fit in perfectly to the second row of seats. The vehicle is fitted with items that help out families on long journeys - drink holders, fold down arm rests and comfortable seats. We have found very little road noise when on long journeys.
