Beautiful Ride
Very neat interior but has a slight rattle somewhere inside the dashboard that no one can work out what it is. Very smooth to drive and easy compared to my smaller sedan. The legroom in the back is great for a dual cab and we have more space in there than previous dual cabs we've owned. Costs about $100 to fill up from empty and getting about 600km out of it so that's my only concern.

Never again
I would never buy a Nissan again. My roof seals have split in my Navara D40 Ute, 2010 model. Extended warranty ran out 6 weeks ago and Nissan don't want nothing to do with it. It is Manufacturing fault with the vehicle, clearly. Rain leaks into the car. The roof needs fully replacing. Disgusting Nissan. I bought second hand and I am still paying for it, that good old customer service ain't around much anymore.

Not sure yet
Only just purchased recent second hand privately.
It has plenty of grunt even wheel spinning in 3rd gear.
Has all the added features for total off road camping and tows exceptionally well.
The interior is well fitted out and all instruments clear to see and operate.
A little heavy on diesel when exceeding 90 kph.

Great car!
I LOVE my Navara. I have the titanium series and it is amazing. This series has a sunroof, reverse camer and mapping system. Diesel engine which is very fuel economical. I have horses and the tray is perfect for chucking anything into the back or towing the float. comfortable to drive and handles our steep driveway so well.

So far so good
Bought my 2009 RX Navara second hand in 2016 with just over 100,000 on the clock. I know it can be a risky business buying any vehicle around these kms but it was in excellent condition inside and out and so far it's been great. I preferred the Navara over other dual cabs mainly due to appearance and I found it far more comfortable and better to drive. It had a pretty easy life before I got my hands on it and I think it had never seen a dirt road before. I've put on over 10,000kms on 50/50 bitumen/dirt with some light off roading and it's st...Read more
ill going well. I've read a lot of horror stories about D40s here and elsewhere, but with enough searching you can find horror stories for just about any make and model. Personally I'm very happy with my Navara and I hope with the right maintenance and upkeep, I can avoid any problems (fingers crossed).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Absolute Rusty Rubbish
I purchased a Nissan Navara STX 550 in July 2014 as a NEW vehicle. Just prior to the end of the 3 year warranty period I took the vehicle for an independent inspection. It revealed significant under vehicle rust. This vehicle had NEVER been off road or through water, to the contrary it had been garaged since new and serviced as per warranty requirements. After receiving a copy of the independent report Nissan and their dealer refused to face the issue saying the vehicle had been submerged in water and that it was garaged in region with a salty ...Read more
atmosphere. WHAT A JOKE, The vehicle was Spanish manufactured in December 2012, I would like to know where it had been and what it had been subjected to prior to my purchase of it as a NEW vehicle in July 2014. The Nissan Service agent at no time advised us of under vehicle rust even though the same Service agent had serviced it for the 3 year warranty period, it took an independent report to reveal the issue. I have researched other Navara,s and there are major rust issues with them overseas which is not a surprise. I am an honest hard working person who worked very hard to pay the $61k for the NEW vehicle, it is a shame NISSAN and their Agents do not own up to their responsibilities and back their product or support their Customers. I will NEVER buy another Nissan motor vehicle and will advise my family and friends to do the same.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I have a Nissan navara d40 which as far as the car runs is great I have been incontact with Nissan about rust in the drip rail and spider webs they are called under the paint on roof because my Nissan is one year out of warranty I cannot claim they new there was a problem with the d40 rusting on roof no where else they should inform all customers about this problem . So I will tell people NOW CHECK YOU ROOF NOW MODELS FROM LATE 2007 TO 2014 AND GET IT IN TO A DEALER NOW WE ALSO OWN A NEW NP300 AND A 4WD X TRAIL NEW HOPE THIS WON'T BE A PROBLEM WITH THEM

Seems Great
I average 750km around town fuel wise so cant complain with that a lot better than my ranger (450km per tank). No real mechanicle issues since owning vehicle second hand (aprox 1 year) only thing i find wrong is when travelling high way kms fuel economy drops to around 550km per tank.

D40 money pit
Bought my 08 navara stx 2.5 diesel used and it is the worse car i have purchased with problem after problem. Started with suction control valve then the turbo went then oil leaks then abs sensors then fan then suspension and then the last straw headgasket. Best thing i did was trade in.

2009 D40 lemon
I cant express how disappointed I have been with the Navara d40. The following items failed and had to be replaced on the vechicle with less than 80,000 on the clock. Clutch, Drive line, Computer, Suction control value, Fuel injectors, Pinion in the diff, cracked gear box mounting, cruise control. This vechicle only does city driving no heavy towing or off road.
When it works, it drives well. Such a poor quality built vechicle.

Great size and awesome features
Engine performance is fantastic, drive ability around town is great and it is just at home on the highway aswell, or towing a load, or driving up a bush track. The cruise control is fantastic as the motor has plenty of gruntime to maintain 110-120 on the highway without fuss.
The interior is simple and functional, good sound system and well placed steering wheel controls. Low interior noise compared to other dual cab utes.
Very good reliability. Mine has over 200000km on it and hasn't skipped a beat. Averages about 9-10L per 100km in economy, and roughly 12 when towing about 750kg.

Still going strong
12 months on after purchasing and 40,000 kms later the D40 is still going strong at 130,000 kms, no complaints whatsoever and not one issue so far
Just recently completed a quick trip from Gippsland to Brisbane and back towing a car trailer up to collect and return with a car in tow for my son, the car was comfortable, reliable and economical and a pleasure to drive
Just recently replaced the 100 watt halogen driving lights with a set of 100 watt HID driving lights and the diffence is amazing with the whiter lights from the HID's reducing eye ...Read more

lemons
have had alot of problems from exhaust pipe blowing and melting computer cables, in middle of northern territory under warranty nissan repaired but left us stranded for a week at daily waters,2 adults and 2 kidsn towing costs, accommodation travel cost back to Katherine, a week of work around $4000.00, clutch problems wouldnt cover, alternator pulley falls off the, and the most recent is the fire wall where the clutch pedal is mounted has just torn away leaving me with no clutch absolute lemon of car, Nissan useless in help or service, service fees are ridiculous, DO NOT BUY A NISSAN THEY ARE A GOOD ADD FOR TOYOTA

Timing Chain
I like my Spanish built 07 D40 Navara stx 2.5d manual. Has good off rd and towing ability whilst comfy on rd. bought second hand at 70,000k never had clutch or trans issues, now at 180,000. Timing chain became noisy at 100,000k Nissan reluctantly replaced all parts under warranty bar the oil. Thanks to Berwick Nissan for pressing Nissan HQ on my behalf. Apparently soft timing chains from Spain. Occasional fuel rail issues caused by pressure sensors. Always get around 10lt/100k anywhere.

2011 Nissan Navara D40 ECU
Car drove alright until around the 100k mark.
From then on its been nothing but problems, transmission slipping, aircon failing and recently ECU flooded while car was parked in driveway. Not from raising water. Simply from the rain water running off the side of the bonnet and leaking through a under designed grommet hole.
Quoted $3.7k AUD cost for replacement.
Steer well clear of it, then you have the Nissan Service centre, they are hopeless and know they have a monopoly when it comes to this type of work. Vehicle has been at Nissan for ...Read more
almost a Month now and still sitting there. Nissan people don't seem to know what to do. One minute its a priority, next its not. Been told there is 2 cars in front to more. Service is also shocking. Should of stayed with Toyota.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great 4x4... very reliable & comfortable
Purchased our D40 new (2013) spent another 20K & installed all the nice ARB bits & pieces setup for comfortable touring.
The car has never let us down & we have been to a lot of very remote locations. We highly recommend this 4x4 & would consider purchasing the new model when the time comes.

Nissan Navara 2012 ST - Been good
Bought new in 2012 and now has 65000KM on the clock. Has been a great ute to drive and has not given me any serious problems. Fuel economy always around 9l in heavy Sydney traffic. Still original factory tyres. The ST for mine is the best value ute around, paid around 42k for the auto with hard lid. If only Nissan had built the NP300 a bit bigger to compete with the tough US style looks of the ranger and colorado rather than going smaller I would upgrade.
Only issues I would say so far are stock radio display no longer works and started to fail after about 3 years but is easily fixed with an aftermarked unit. Black paint is VERY thin, shows scratches very easily.

2007 D40 ST-X PETROL
When I first bought this ute everybody was jumping on the diesel bandwagon. I used it for work and holidays. The tie down rails in the tub are so handy. Towing a caravan it had plenty of power in the 4lt V6 petrol. It obviously used more fuel than a diesel but in the 9 years of ownership I reckon I'm in front financially over the expense of diesel repairs. I had no mechanical issues and travelled 195000k's. Travelling the Nullabor I averaged just over 18lt/100 ( tail wind). A 2wd Mazda diesel ute travelling with us towing a similar van got 16...Read more
lt/100 and no power. So if you are thinking of getting a secondhand D40 with high k's, get a petrol unless you know all the expensive repairs have been done on the diesel. Too bad that the only petrol available now is the poverty pack with the Xtrail engine.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
