Junk
80,000Klms Turbo replaced under warranty, 90,000Klms gearbox replaced under warranty, 120,000Klms clutch and flywheel replaced at my cost $3000, 130,000Klms turbo has failed again and requires replacement, discs are warped and require replacement, Aircon unit has failed and spews smoke in to the cabin when you turn it on and requires replacement. I have bought a new twin cab ute every year for the last 16 years, they are fully dealer serviced. This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever had the displeasure of owing. I will never buy another Nissan as long as I live.

Timing chains
My husbands timing chain broke on his Navara 2010 July built at 130000 kms it had been serviced regularly. Nissan wouldn't take any responsibility for the chain as it was a single and double and stretched and broke creating a new engine. Nissan paid $119 for anew timing chain and we paid $12000 to fix there faulty chain. I still have the faulty chain Nissan doesn't want to know about problems from non city people as i spoke to the CEO assistant listened but did nothing. I have no faith in Nissan.

g chain in 180,000 km This is the third timing chain in my husbands Narvara to be changed this time it has stretched in 40,000km still it had a new engine due to the chain breaking. We just had the fuel injectors replaced. We have paid for half this vehicle again with nothing from Nissan and frustrated mechanics. Beware of timing chains in these vehicles.Similar opinion? Lemon from the start
D40 st, Best thing I had ever done was trade it in. Use it on a dirt road and break it everytime. Running cost up through the roof fuel and servicing. Pretty much i had every problem from timing chains stretched, egr pipe crack, suspension dropped, scv replaced 3 times due to limp home mode and oil leaks everywhere. Traded in at 130,000km. Stay clear of any nissan unless u have deep pockets.

Might be heading for trouble..
Driving Experience? Its a great Ute, no doubt. but we are having a common issue that not many diesel mechanics can diagnose. So, Nissan dealer was gonna be the most costly opinion and last opinion basically. Just to find out that many D40 Owners have experienced this issue with the car. The problem either been the Fuel Filter, Oil Filter or even the Fuel Injectors. So far we have changed the Fuel Filter, Oil Filter. Still not coming back to life basically. Now we are getting new Fuel Injectors put in to make sure we rule that out, since no one ...Read more
seems to know why this happens a lot. The issue is one day our ute started dying as soon as we were to turn it over. then wouldn't start at all. Then it would start up after a few minutes but couldn't be driven over 2000RPM. Would be blowing out black smoke when in any gear from 1st to 6th. All of this happened out of the blue. All the mechanics it went to could not tell us what was wrong, so we did some research of our own & we are not the only ones with the problem, its apparently common. Interior-wise? Its great, spacious. not much storage on the inside but a lot of room in the tray. reliability-wise? Reliable, until things happen I guess. just like most cars & utes. We have only had ours for a year & this is a major inconvenience. Haven't driven it for a month now. Been off the road since. Running Cost? about $80 to fill. Pretty good, Diesel lasts a while. very economical car to own. Just wish ours was up & running already.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2014 Series 7 Navara D40 2.5L Turbo Diesel Auto Dual Cab - Great Vehicle
I bought my series 7 Navara brand new in May 2014 from Rockdale Nissan. So far I've done 26,000 k's.
How good is the driving experience? (Performance, handling, noise, etc.) I've done 4 trips from Sydney to Byron Bay so far, and the Navara is very comfortable and easy to drive, especially with the cruise control on. At highway speed the cabin is nice and quiet though this may change with different makes of tyres. I'm still using the factory fitted Wranglers. Fuel economy around Sydney is great at 10.2L/100 k's and on the highway it sits arou...Read more
nd 7.2L/100k's using BP Ultimate Diesel. 95% of the time on the daily grind, the Navara has very little in the back tray so this also contributes to minimise the fuel consumption. The handling is good; I've had no issues at all. In the wet I think the Wranglers lend themselves to a feeling of being skatey, but I've not lost control at any time, and I do not think this has anything to do with the vehicle itself. You can switch between 2WD and 4WDH whether you're stationery or moving, and the transfer case status is reflected on the dashboard also. What do you like or dislike about the interior? (Dashboard, legroom, etc.) The interior is cosy and well thought out in terms of seating and access to most controls. I love that the cruise control shows you the actual speed which you have it set at! The dashboard is well laid out and displays all the necessary information. My gripes with the instrumentation cluster and steering wheel controls: the blue high beam indicator light is far too bright at night and interferes with my vision of the road; the in built navigation system is ridiculously out of date and Nissan had no updates as of the last service; if you have an iphone and play music via the USB cable or bluetooth you will suffer lagging within the vehicles entertainment system randomly. Songs sometimes start to play slower, or faster, or even start skipping; there is no physical play/pause button on the dashboard as it is on the touch screen and only visible if you are not displaying the vehicle status bar (which I do most of the time - it shows the climate control temperature and fan setting and fuel usage);Similar opinion? Bad Gearbox And Clutch
My ute has 65000 kays and has been at Nissan now for 2 weeks trying to sort out the gearbox and clutch issues. This is the second clutch it doesn't tow anything or go off road I change my cars often due to the kays I do and this will be the last Nissan I buy overrated and over priced should have bought a Ford Ranger.

Great car but bad clutch
First clutch failed after 32k kilometres and replaced by Nissan as a sign of good will. Only after a few heated discussions with Nissan Aust. This clutch was replaced with another dual mass which is the problem. Now replaced at my cost with a solid clutch
No more problems
If I bought another it would only be an auto

2007 D40 ST-X V6 petrol
Absolutely love this car! Chose the petrol over the diesel for the simple fact that when things go wrong with a Nissan diesel, that they go wrong in a big way. i think people get 'sucked' into the diesel hype. Yes fuel costs less, however the maintenance and repairs are monumental compared to a petrol. How many D40 owners spit chips when their timing chains and injectors go wayward? Doesn't happen on a petrol.
Bought the D40 with 170,000km and it now has 205,000km. Have had a few mechanical issues such as an idler pulley, wheel bearings but no...Read more

Clutch Plate and just this week rear passanger spring
Have had 2010 ST since new 40,000 Klm had to replace clutch plate, know this week thought I had hit something or wife steering wheel was, sorry still is at strange angle instead of 0- 180 sitting at 90- 270 so went to get wheel alignment they could not get it to sit straight on ramp found under closer inspection that back spring had broken clean off at front bolt there are no visible marks on spring or around area. And have to wait till end of month for replacement part, looks like this is not a common thing to happen. Concerned, Hello to all who looked at my review hope it helped, one final comment have sold vehicle because clutch plate was starting to slip again 2015 only done 85000klm so now looking for another 4WD maybe a defender

Nissan D40 2WD
I am in Perth Western Australia and I am a mechanic. I currently have a 2014 Nissan D40 2WD Dual cab. This is the third Nissan dual cab that I have owned, previously owning a 2008 D22 4WD 3.0 litre then trading up to a 2011 D22 4WD 2.5 litre and now the D40 2WD.
Whilst I make a point of not punishing the hell out of my vehicles I have used them for what they where intended, that is towing large loads and a fair amount of 4WD use. There have been a few issues along the way and such as with the D22 excessive smoke, body work rust (radiator su...Read more
pport panel and a little around the door hinges), chrome rust (rear bumper), door seals split and door window seal shrinkage. Northside Nissan in Wangara where more than helpful and sorted out all the issues, treating and repainting the rust affected areas, replacing the rear bumper and all the affected seals and updating the ecu programme to eliminate most of the 'smoke' issue. All this done without any hassle even though I did not buy the car from them. To add, it was right at the end of the warranty period. Excellent service. The 2014 D40 2WD, 6 speed manual (run out model) that I have updated to (in Feb 2105) I have found to be excellent value for money. I purchased this vehicle from Giant Nissan in Osborne Park. I would have done business with Northside Nissan however they could not match the deal. Neck snapping performance, no, however leaps and bounds ahead of the D22 in the form of increased power and torque, more comfortable, more leg room in the rear, front seats more comfortable and a load more 'gimmick" features such as Bluetooth, cruise control, intermittent wipers and controls on the steering wheel. The fuel economy is outstanding at 8.2 litres per 100km. Much improved on the D22 which averaged 10 litres per 100km. I have had a few issues, one with the braking, the other with the engine stalling after starting and more recently intermittent loss of power.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nissan Navara review
I have a nissan navara 2013 st in which i have had since brand new. The only issue i have had is a pully belt noise which comes and goes in which regular adjustment is required apart from that i absolutely love it and running my own business i have to have something reliable in which i have already clocked up 76000klms fingers crossed also very economical 9ooklms to a tank. I would recommend purchasing to anyone. My cousin came for a drive with me in mine he loved it that much he bought one the following week, also my one is made in brazil maybe that makes a difference.

Dont buy a 2014 nissan Navara 2.5 4 WD
After the clutch went for the second time at 23000 Kms, I did not want this 2 tonnes of scrap metal . Actually the S should be left off. Nissan refused to honor the warranty for the second clutch. Called it an operator issue. My previous Mitsubishi Triton had done 280,000 kms on the original clutch, Operator issue my ar__.
In otherwords if you dont drive it, you wont have any problems. I got the second burnt out clutch tested I was advised that even if the truck had been absolutely hard on, the clutch should have lasted 40,000 kms. So the issu...Read more

Great ute!
I have 2013 ST 4x2 Spanish built dual-cab. Bought with 900ks on the clock. Have nearly 16k on the clock (not much I know, but...). 6-speed manual, no probs yet. I have had absolutely no probs with this vehicle, good solid vehicle.
I have lugged around tray loads of stuff (750kgs) on many occasions and have had no probs. Just have pump up tyres to 40psi whilst doing so. Cannot speak for towing (2000kgs) as I have not towed with the vehicle.
The vehicle is always outside, no probs regarding paint, or rust or leaks.
Have tub liner and 5...Read more

Worst ute - new 2013/2014 - Chasis full of rust - plus more
I brought a brand new Navara D40 ST only 62km on the clock when I drove out of dealers shop. My package included Window Tint, X-Pack protection (NANO Paint protection, Interior protection) Electronic Rust protection, genuine tow bar (3Tonne) and a Heavy duty alloy tray to replace the tub.
I waited a month for the tray to be fitted after taking ownership in which time I had noticed that the so called electronic rust protection was not fitted. When I asked why – “Oh they ran out of stock at the time”-“So when where you going to fit it then” – “O...Read more

Had mine for 6 years.. replaced the diff, 2 injectors( 1 grand each) and now i need a 2nd clutch in 3 years. Cheap plastic throughout the ute. Paint is peeling. I hate my ute and will never buy a nissan again. Stay away from these lemon utes. Waste of money.

Don't believe all the negative hype
I purchased a 2012 st navara auto, drives well lots of power, looks great, fuel is ok 9/10L per hundred.
Comfortable and rides well off road. Great on the highway sit on 130 very well the auto is great. For serious bush bashing the ride is fairly low and very little under body protection. (Fixed for $280 iron man steel bash plates all the way past the gear box).
EDIT: after almost 3 years still going well, only issue has been the rear window seal needed to be replaced. Dealer could be better in Darwin but not the worst.
Comfy reliable powerful and handless well.
Rear passengers door doesn't seal, not much under body protection

Great recreatioal vehicle
Purchased my ST D40 2012 in 2015 as a delivery workhorse for a shack, A comfortable, reliable, economical and with the turbo a powerful vehicle.
Only one warranty fault was the turbo/acceleration system, were I intermittently and frequently lost a majority of acceleration power. The Service Centre quickly corrected the turbo problem.
The 2012 ST D40 is still popular in SA and is presently holding it's value, therefore less deprecation that other dual cab manufactures
Overall, very happy with the vehicle
