Quality domestic product
We have owned our George for almost eight years. We purchased George as we also have pets and were in a rental house at the time. I can’t recall what we paid for the cleaner but it certainly has paid for itself in savings on a professional cleaner or hiring a wet cleaner. Like the old saying “the quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten” it was not cheap but well worth the investment. George has also proved popular with friends and relatives borrowing the machine to clean everything from car seats, lounges, broken aquariums, rugs...Read more
, carpet & cushions. Our George has done a lot of work and only now is showing some wear on the wet hose which sees the majority of use. The overall quality of the cleaner is excellent and we have not had any failures to date of the plastic or electrical components. Suction is very good but it is important to use a low foaming detergent when in wet clean use. The cleaner is supplied with large and small wet and dry heads, metal extension pipes and wet and dry hoses. We usually use the wet hose as it is longer than the dry hose. It would be nice if the dry hose was a bit longer but the shorter the hose the greater the suction I guess.. Bags a reasonably cheap depending where you purchase them and the quantity purchased. Check eBay for deals on multiple packs. The material filter can be removed from its frame and washed successfully when it becomes soiled and smelly with extensive use. George is also quite stable on its wheels and does not tip easily when pulled along with the suction hose as you work it. There is a baffle on the inlet to prevent hard objects such as stones, glass shards and other debris puncturing the bag as they would enter a high velocity. This also ends up with hair caught around the baffle which may need to be removed when changing the disposable bag but really is just a minor inconvenience. The motor/pump unit separates from the bucket that holds the bag or tank and can be easily washed in the laundry tub. You will need extra cupboard space to store the attachments, hoses and wet tank parts and detergents but you be great full next time the milk leaks on the car seat.Similar opinion? Love George. No Other Floor Cleaners Need Apply.
George is King around our home. He has 4 functions that we've made use of so far.
He dry vacuums with more suction than our top of the range Dyson, although George is noisier.
He wet vacuums spills. Just need to remove the bag.
He washes the carpets. This requires a change out of the hose, filter and bag. I had to watch a youtube video to make sure I had reset him correctly. The instruction manual is great, and would have sufficed, but the youtube video was better. The first time I washed my clean looking cream coloured carpets I was asto...Read more

great machine
I bought the George primarily as a carpet shampooer as I have pets and they have mishaps. I am tired of hiring one from shops and having to race around all day trying to get as much done as I can before returning it, exhausted. This machine is every bit as good as the machines you hire, doing a great job. It is the extractor type where it sprays and vacuums up as it goes. The water it extracted was filthy meaning my carpets are that much cleaner. The machine is easy to put together, and easy to change between dry and wet. I have used it on upho...Read more
lstery and on a bed too and it did a great job. I have only had it a week and love it. I can now just clean a room at a time when it suits and I can just use it for spot cleaning small mishaps (dog threw up on the carpet the second day I had it and it took 3 mins to set up and suck up the mess, leaving 2 clean patches on the carpet meaning I had to clean the whole room the next day!). You don't need a Little Green Bag if you have this machine. I don't use it as a dry vacuum as I already have a Dyson which is an upright. The George does a good job but doesn't have a turbo head so doesn't fluff up the carpets the same way. I may end up getting rid of the Dyson but haven't yet as I like uprights. But as for the shampooing it is fabulous. I use the lesser amount of shampoo in the water as it foams a lot and that causes the machine needing to be emptied more frequently. It also leaves feeling less greasy afterwards, and is cheaper as the shampoo is quite expensive as they all are. You don't need to buy a specific one for the machine. I will try a little defoamer next time in the waste water bin, and see if that helps. When taking it apart to empty - which is easy by the way - it helps to put an old towel under the machine as the water does drip out onto the floor. Other than that it is fabulous. I am really pleased with it, which is good, cos it was a bit expensive at $650. I didn't buy it from Godfreys as they had trouble getting it and then they tried to fob me off with something else when they couldn't get it. I bought it on-line instead, saved $50 and got fast free delivery to boot. easy to put together, does a great job of wet and dry carpet cleaning, cords and pipes are generously long, sturdy construction, 5L water tank so does about a thrid to a half of a room at a time before refilling needs a bit of storage space as there are different attachments for the wet and dry components other than that, nothing!Similar opinion?
