Gets right into the carpet
This is my second VAX carpet cleaner. I had the first one for 8 years but then had an unfortunate accident where it fell into my swimming pool! Amazingly, the vacuum kept working, but the motor that powers the carpet cleaning function wasn't so lucky.
So I went out to buy a new one. The original model that I had was discontinued, but this is the new version. I paid $289 for it from Harris Scarfe at Carindale in Brisbane.
The machine works in three ways. First of all, it can be a regular dry vacuum cleaner. It uses a paper dust bag for thi...Read more
s, two of which are supplied. or it can be used as a wet / dry vacuum for mopping up spills. In this mode, you remove the paper dust bag. There are clear instructions on how to set the machine up for each of these modes, and it's pretty easy to do, taking just a couple of minutes to switch from one to the other. Lastly, it can act as a carpet cleaner. In this mode, you fill a reservoir with cleaning solution and water. One bottle of solution is supplied. Then you start vacuuming in the normal way, but press an extra button on top of the unit that activates a motor that pumps the cleaning solution out of the reservoir, down some tubing, and sprays it out underneath the cleaning head. The solution gets into the carpet and is then sucked back into the machine taking the dirt with it. A range of different cleaning tools are included. The star of the show is the Spin Scrub wash head. This consists of a number of small circular brushes that rotate and get down into the carpet fibres, scrubbing them clean. You use this head whilst in carpet cleaning mode. There's a traditional turbo brush head, and mini turbo head, that you use when dry vacuuming. They brush into the carpet to loosen the dirt which is then sucked into the cleaner.

Great for pet hair nremoval!
This vacuum really extracts all the pet hair from carpets, upholstery, and rugs and works very effectively. Vax Pet Hair is very versatile and very durable and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something reliable, durable and heavy duty and keeps my house clean and mess and hair free.

If you have a husky this is the vac for you!
Removes pet hair with ease. Best vacuum, I have used for pet hair ever!
I have two huskies and my old vacuum used to take 15 mins to vacuum one room.
This one less than 5 mins. Could not recommend more if you have a pet. Great value for money. Has a lot of accessories I am yet to try.

Mega Durable!
They say things aren't built like they use to be. But this is one of the rare things that can still be used for multiple purposes, wet/dry, has adjustable suction & really strong suction. The bags are large which means less trips to the bin, the filters can either be washed or replaced so no need to splash out unnecessary $$. Love it! Love Vax!

Love you petvax, only one problem. . .
My handle regularly drops off too which is annoying, but I am prepared to put up with it because of all the other excellent features. It is not too heavy as it dutifully follows me around over carpet & hard floors.
My frustration is having to buy a second cleaner until I find a retail outlet for Petvax bags.

Wonderful first few times.....
We loved the new vax the first few times we used the turbo head. But after the third time we had to pull it apart as it was choked with fur. So now we have to clean it every few weeks. Also I find that the wand sometimes falls off the handle - and always manages to land on my toes!

Best and strongest suction floor & carpet vacuum/shampoo cleaner i have ever used.
I am on to my 2nd Pet Vax floor/carpet vacuum cleaner/ carpet shampooer because both have been so good.
Even at the price they are well worth the expense and have paid for themselves numerous times.
Cleans up dirty water easily & with a liquid volume of est +10 litres easily & quickly.
Because of the wheels they can be used easily by anyone, it does not even look as if it is on wheels because they are tucked away underneath the machine. Regards Craig A

Full of expectations....but
I have bought my vax pet machine after having the vax and bissel upright washers, which I found did not scrub deep enough into carpets. I recall having the older orange vax as a child which did an excellent job.
When I put the new machine together I noticed the new design ( changed from when I was a kid ) on the washer head..it has wheels, so you are unable to push and scrub the carpet. My conclusion is this is a good machine if your carpets deserve a good TICKLING and not a clean. Very disappointed and I would say I've wasted my money on this...Read more

Wonderful but could be better
I bought my vax over 2 years ago now, and it still works wonderfully. It picks up cat and dog hair better than any other vacuum I have previously bought. The suction is fantastic, you can really feel it resist if you lift off floor
The only fault I have found is the attachments come off too easily. You are in the middle of cleaning and suddenly the connections come off hose. I find this very frustrating but am willing to put up with it as overall it is a fantastic vacuum
Suction power, picks up pet hair really well
Connections come off too easily

Disappointed !!!
I purchased a petvax I think about 2 years ago, after having a second hand one from my Mother that performed wonderfully for many years. I have found the new model lacking in power but the worst thing is the plastic on the main hose where it connects into the metal wand keeps snapping. Also the small brushes plastic connections snap if you bump them while in their holders on the machine. I have just had to pay out $50.00 to get a second hand metal connecting handle but this machine is being handed on to the flatting daughter and I will be buying a better brand !

Great for those unfortunate spills!
Our Vax is a couple of years old now, Brilliant machine with great suction, however does tend to get hot when used for more than an hour or so especially when cleaning carpets, I am absolutely amazed at the dirt it gets out of the carpet and how filthy the water is at the end! (and we have new carpets!)
Comes with a small accident pick up tool which is good for small spills. I don't have pets I bought this for the kids.
Suction and capacity
It's quite bulky and tends to get hot when used for extended periods

Excellent product
We've had our Pet Vax for 5 years now and I can't fault the wet and dry cleaner except for the supply of the bags and filters. Our Vax is now 5 years old and its used as a dry vacuum cleaner twice a week and as a wet carpet cleaner one a month and its still going strong, well done Vax.
Ease of using and quality of product
Availability of bags and filters

Good for what you pay
I have had my pet vax a little over a year, it still works just as well as the day I bought it, you have to look after it though ie clean the filters change the bags and filter as needed, wipe out after shampooing etc. The tools dont really clip on well so I just leave them in my hall cupboard and get them out as and when I need them. The hose attachment quite often falls off its really annoying to be honest but you could fix it with some electrical tape of something overall im pretty happy with my purchase
Works well at shampooing
Hose attachment drives me nuts sometimes

Great Unit For The Price
Bought one of these brand new from a mate who works at The Good Guys. Already have a Miele S5981 Power Plus for the house, so really just wanted this to vacuum the cars, shampoo the carpet in the cars, the couch and the carpet in the bedrooms. While I haven't had a chance to shampoo the carpets at home or the cars yet, I have used it to shampoo the car floor mats and my brother in law's couch and carpet. Was impressed with how much dirt and grit it pulled out of the carpets. Found it put a lot of solution on the couch when cleaning it, so best ...Read more
to do it on a warm day (and not the middle of winter). The unit rolls around easy, and the controls are at an easy place to reach on top of the motor unit. It makes a lot of noise, so can't really use late at night. Have seen you can buy an attachment to use on hard flooring and I am thinking of buying it for our floorboards. Only real downside is trying to store it all, and finding the Vax solution. Really, for what I paid for it, and what I use it for, I am impressed. Price, flexibility for different uses, range of attachments noise, trying to store all the partsSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Bad
Whlist this vaccum gets off surface dirt, it does not deep clean. When my old hoover upright broke I brought the pet vax and about three months after having it started to sneeze all the time when I was at home. I borrowed a friends upright hoover and was appalled at the dust that came out of my carpet. The vax only picks the surface stuff and leaves all of the dust in the pile of the carpet. Carpet looks clean, but it isn't. I still use the turbo brush to do couches and use the washing attachments for stains but have brought another Hoover to d...Read more

A great machine for the price
I purchased my Pet Vax in January 2011 and have used it quite a lot since then. I love this machine. Don't get me wrong, it is not perfect. It has some silly things about it. Sometimes the tools fall off the barrel, other times the extension rod comes apart from the vacuum hose. What I love about this machine is that it does what it does well. It picks up the pet hair, it shampoos the carpets, it's great on hard floors and I have found ordering replacement filters on-line very handy. I also love how cheap it is to get replacements or refills. D...Read more
o not be fooled, this is not a professional quality machine, it is not a high pressure steam cleaner, it is however a rugged little vacuum that is perfect for cleaning or shampooing between professional steam cleans. For the price, I think this machine is a true gem. If it should fail, I will be buying another one to replace it. I think overall this is a great machine for what it is designed to do. Avoid the temptation to expect this sub $400 machine to do the same that a professional machine worth several thousands of dollars can do, and you will be very impressed with this product. A few minor changes to the design (locking parts into place) would be a great advantage.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Disappointing
I purchase the Pet Vax about 18months ago as my mum had a Vax from years ago and loves it and it is still going. This one I purchase has been only very disappointing. The attachment head gets stuck on the wand section (My husband cant even pull apart) which makes it very difficult to clear blockages. Have had blockages in the hose part which have not been any better to clear. Have found it harder to get filters from shops and have to order online through the Vax Shop. Not happy.
It shampoos the carpet reasonalby for in between cleans
Difficult to pull attachments apart. and suction deteriorates quite rapidly and frequently with blockages.

I cut to size and made two layers. Added a new hose as the original was cracking. Also bought a new pipe as the originals had seized up over the years. I got the supplier to make the flexible hose 8ft long and this machine is now working as good as they day we bought it. All up cost was around $50 - cant by a good vacuum cleaner for that price, and dont really care for the bagless units. Heard to many negative reports on them. Use a Karcher for shampooing rhe car seats and carpets plus the house carpets.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Can I buy filters etc online?
1 answer
Yes you can, or K-mart.
I just bought a few online for my other one exactly the same, i gave my last one away because i stuffed up the water pump unknowingly.
I was pressing both buttons on the top because i didn't understand the sign and burn't the water pump out.
They just use the vacuum part of the machine.
The bags have a number on them, just put that number and model into browser on e-bay

OK Now the turbo head lasts about six sweeps across the carpet then gives up. With the wand falling off regularly and a clip broken at the base of the hose I'm ready to take this back. Very disappointed as I loved my orange vax
