Couldn't be more happy with my purchase! The PIU 16 cools the room down on a 35 degree day within minutes. It's quieter then expected, can easily sleep with it on. Installed within seconds! Portable to move around if needed. Simple, effective and does what it says. I love it...

bought this in harvey norman, recommend by a sales, got a discount price from him. It does the job in a 3 ×3 m room. kept the room quit cold in 40 degree days. however, it is very noisy, can not go to sleep with it is on. If you keep it outside your bed room, it would be better.

I am very satisfied with the unit's cooling performance. It is quite portable and easy for installation. It is just a bit loud, but is quieter than most of the portable unit. I recommend it to my friend and they like it in the summer as well. The price of the unit is ok as well.

We purchased this unit in Jan 2015 for upstairs which is unbearably hot and stuffy in Summer. Very functional, reliable, cools our master bedroom very well, however, you need to put it on early morning for it to be at its most efficient. We also place a large fan a couple of meters in front towards the door to push the cold air towards other bedrooms - this works well. It is a little noisy - what portable air-con isn't? On the extreme hot nights we do run it during the night, however, earplugs will ensure a good night sleep. (FYI - When i...
Read moret flashes F1 code, this indicates to clean filter. Once cleaned, press and hold the ON button for 5 seconds, and it will clear the F1 code). Overall, a great purchase and definitely recommend it to others. No issues with leaking - however it is essential you ensure the plug is secured to avoid any unnecessary leaking. We also purchased ours from Good Guys - sales person was very knowledgeable and explained why it doesn't have oscillating features or movable vents - it is meant to direct the cool air in an upwards direction as hot air rises - this is main reason why good idea to put it on early morning when weather forecast is expecting hot day.- Date Purchased

Final Edit 28th January 2018
Do not - DO NOT - waste your money on this over-priced Italian piece of garbage.
It's been a 40° day for 2 days running.
INSIDE my apartment the thermometer is showing 47° (!!!) (amazing I'm not dead) and this absolutely useless appliance is pumping out nothing but hot air. Even on “auto” it can't even detect that the indoor temperature is at FURNACE LEVELS and took a full 20 minutes before the compressor finally kicked in. By then it was far too late because, for the preceding 20 minutes it filled the room...

I am very satisfied with the product and the products performance.
Its fast reliable and efficient.
Easy to install but you only get 1 meter flexible hose. But no need to worry you can easily extend it by as long as you want. Just follow easy steps.
1) Go to Bunnings.
2) Buy 125mm duct pipe. (Silver in color/or any you can get)
3) Buy 100mm black rubber coupling one end to go inside your duct pipe and 2nd to cover the face of your flexible hose that you have got with the unit.
4) Buy 2 to 3 clamps 130mm to support the hoses in place. 1 fo...

I love olimpia PIU models! !
I think they are the best models.
Not so expensive not so cheap..something in the middle.
I bought my unit second hand in the half price.
And from that day I don't care about hot days cause I have this god on my room !!
I have PIU 16 cause I really hate hot days but I believe that PIU 14 and PIU 12 are the same good as mine.
Your room will be cold like heaven with this unit. ...

People saying that it doesn't work have got to be kidding themselves. I set window kit fitting well to my window without even removing the fly screen, got some good quality white gaffer tape to seal it to the window frame and I siliconed the clear shroud to the window kit, everything looks very neat and tidy. All in all, if you have your place sealed with good insulation how could you even think it to be possible that this unit won't work?

Read moreoor shut but the rest of the place open this air con does the whole apartment very nicely. Once again, the only way I could see anyone not being happy is if they haven't properly set up and sealed. It's a no brainer really, it works great! Sound is as expected, you have a working compressor in the room after all but it's in no way a problem and is definitely not what I'd consider noisy.- Date Purchased

I bought this portable air con unit to keep my guinea pigs cool over summer. It really is great, you can set the timer to turn it on and off, which works great... I've never once come home from work to find hot piggies. Every unit is going to be a little bit noisy but really it's not too bad and guinea pigs don't mind at all, fan mode switches on when the room temp matches set temp and night mode is quieter. No fumes at all, that was the main driver for buying this particular unit.

By far the best portable unit I have come across yet. I have a large unit and it cools the whole place down, even though I only bought it for the bedroom. For those saying it's too noisy, I suggest you read the instruction manual, because I'm a light sleeper and mine has never woken me up.

Got one on sale at the Good Guys online, not quite as powerful as my old one, but sure is quieter and dont need to empty the water tray. Easy to use with remote, works a treat and no issues so far, all in all very happy with my purchase.
Would be nice to have moving vent louvres like my old one, but it is smaller which is nice.
As loud as a car engine parked next to your bed! It also made water trickling noises and left a puddle where it was sitting. Not only that, the exhaust fumes were rather strong, even with the exhaust funnel out the window. I will not be using it again !

It worked for the first few nights really well, after then it was noisy and you had to sit on top of it to get any cold air. I'm a hot sleeper so I persevered with it sleeping next to it which wasn't the most comfortable with the compressor going on and off all night. I often awoke to head aches so it's anything but quiet, don't be fooled.
Fast forward 11 months and it blows up. Literally. Started making the saddest clunking crunching sound and smell.. Turned it off and took it out of the bedroom and after taking the pipe off melted plastic s...

Love this machine, running in our bedroom and it is fantastic. Only thing I'd like different for it would be to have a heating aswell as cooling.
Would definitely suggest purchasing one for anyone who has hot bedrooms. Was a bit pricey, but I'd rather pay this sort of coin and know it's good quality then to buy a cheap cramps thing.

After a year in storage, it took about 20 minutes to start from the flashing 8, l shook and slapped the bloody thing and off it slowly went thinking the fan may have been stuck. Works fine, noise won't bother. Why is there a water plug in the back, will it leak condensation, do l need a tray? Thank you all.

I use my Piu16 in a small caravan.. The exhaust is through the cabinets to the outside. I've had the unit for 12 months and only used it occasionally. It has been trouble free up to now. Today I've set up my van onsite and find that although it runs, the cooling compressor only kicks in for about 6 second bursts every minute or so. This is achieving nothing. According to the manual, this means that the room is too hot. Well DERRRRRR.. I know that or I wouldn't have it switched on.! It's 40C, And the purpose of AC is..? To cool hot rooms.? Anyone else have this problem..?
Finally took the unit back to the Good Guys and they replaced it on the spot. Thank you Good Guys for your always excellent service.

I purchased a Piu 16 floor model from The Good Guys and managed to get a significant discount at the time.
The unit itself is great! It's relatively quiet. That is, I can have it running in my bedroom, and nobody can hear it from the other side of the wall. So it's definitely quieter than a hair dryer.
My apartment's bedroom is approximately 5m x 5m and is kept cool through a night of sleeping.
The unit has a good length cord, a decent length exhaust pipe, and an ok window kit.
Some people have complained about the unit leaking. ...
Read moreI don't know what they're talking about, because my unit came with a "plug" for the water port, so it's never leaked. After a night of running the unit I do have to drain the water. The con with this is the drain is towards the bottom of the unit, thus you can't tip/lean the unit backwards and have the water drain into a cup or bowl. Instead the unit has to be elevated a bit so you can then tip it backward about 45 degrees to drain the water into a cup/bowl. However, if you have a hose hooked up that runs outside, this shouldn't be a problem.Pros- quite, small unit, excellent window kit, keeps a small room cool.
Cons- no air swing, no vent movement, not much air flow, no turn on timer

Probably the best one you can get, but all portable air cons are inherently inefficient
It's a pretty good air conditioner if you are a renter and can't install a split system. If you own your own place don't bother with a portable. One of the main problem with these portables is that most of them only have one hose that pumps hot air out of the window, but it draws from air in the room to do this. This creates negative pressure in the room, which causes air to be drawn from outside from gaps around doors/windows, which is probably going to be hot air if you're using an air con in the first place. And these units pump out A LOT of...
Read more hot air. So what I've done is rig up a second hose using 200mm air ducting from Bunnings and attached it to the window using a makeshift window kit, and the other end to the air con air inlet using some duct tape. Now it circulates air from outside to pump out the hot air, meaning no negative air pressure - which makes it more efficient than before. So it can be done, but you do need large size ducting, at least 200mm in diameter, so you feed it enough air and not cause any additional strain on the unit. You probably don't want to tell the shop you bought the air con from that you do this as you'd probably void your warranty. But you can do it without making any modification to the unit. It doesn't look that great with an extra large hose hanging about, but it's a practical solution. The other problem with these portables is the noise, and there's really not much you can do about that except try to get one that's less noisier than others, and I believe this one is on the quieter side.- 3 reviews

This unit has been perfect and we're buying another for the baby's room. It happily cools a room with 4m ceilings that is 55m2. It's ran all through last summer like a little champ. On the days over 35' it couldn't get the room down to 21 but it could get it to 23-24 and considering the house is 160yo with no roof insulation, that's pretty impressive. The key is getting a good seal on the vent and not just shoving the hose through an open space. A friend of mine had the Piu 12 for their babies room and complained his was hopeless. On inspection, the vent had fallen back from the window so was blowing the hot air back into the room. On solving that, it was cool within 2 hours and he was a fan.
Purchased it few months back and that was the best decision, I live in a rented place which is a townhouse and bedrooms are all upstaris. When temperature reaches anywhere near 30+ degrees the rooms become too hot to stay in. Being a rented place cant fit the split system aircon therefore decided to go for a portable aircon and all I can say money well invested, even at 45 degrees outside this little champ does the job quite well... Very happy with the product. Though a little noisy but when you fet used to of it then there is noting better than this in portable aircon category.
