Are you allowed to chew sugar free gum while on the optifast programme.?
1 answer
It’s not that prescriptive about things like gum in the literature that comes with the product. The website mentions sugar free minimal calorie gum as a way of managing bad breathe that may occur from ketosis, that may occur if doing the intensive level. Their website has a lot of information. www.optufast.com.au
As a meal replacement (VLCD- very low calorie diet) you can choose to replace either 1,2 or 3 meals.
It’s about calorie intake and how strict you want to be with that.

I’m looking to purchase this product but I am looking for a taste test as I have a very sensitive stomach - is there any way of sampling the chocolate flavour before purchasing?

I don’t think so. Just buy the smallest box. They are $$ though if you don’t like it.
I don't think so either, unless you have a local chemist that is willing to provide you with 1 sachet? maybe you could look on gumtree or market place and see if anyone is selling an opened box cheaper.
Maybe contact nestle
They do make a 10 pack sample box of flavours
I’ve found this cheapest on the chemist warehouse website.... they offer afterpay online if you didn’t want to invest too much cash at once. The chocolate is yummy best made on ice/water in a ninja... tastes like nesquik
Chai & Strawberry are yum too.
Lemon pudding is ok
Chicken soup... is not too bad, the textures a bit slimy thou.
I have experienced minimal gas and stomach cramps compared to other products.
Can’t really fault the products I’ve tried or my experience so far. Finding the cheapest price online is the best way too buy!!

Hi, I am at the beginning of week four and lost 7.5kg first week (mostly fluid no doubt), then only 1kg since then. Frustrating! My exercise is low (need to up that I know) but with the food I have been absolutely strict and not had anything other than my veggies in the evening and the OF products. What I have done, though, is because of busy work, only ended up having a shake and a bar during the day (along with water) and then just veggies in the evening. Is it bad to have fewer OF products? I wonder whether needing to keep up the protein has led to 2 week plateau. Does anyone know? Do you need to have some veggies in the middle of the day as well - if so this will be tricky with my horrid work life. Would love to get some help with this one. Thanks team!

You definitely need to keep up your protein! It’s also a factor in helping to maintain your muscle whilst losing fat.
It can’t hurt to snack on allowed veggies during the day, it also helps keep your metabolism going.
You’re doing great :)
Thanks so much for the encouragement Angela! I have ordered more bars as they are the easiest thing to munch on during the day, though not keen on the chocolate ones - too sweet now - how weird is that?? Taste buds changed so quickly! Even the berry bars are sweet too but at least they have some crunch!! Thanks again :)
Protein is important. So you need to keep that up.
To lose weight rapidly you need about 30 carbs per day. You can achieve that by just eating normal food - protein and greens. I prefer those bars or any low carb bar as a quick snack or a meal on the go when busy.

How do you maintain the weight loss?

Thanks to my weakness & cravings for chocolate, I used the Chocolate Dessert with ice cold water & drank it immediately as a chocolate thickshake for breakfast instead of letting it set at all.
This satisfied my cravings so stopped me looking for other food & was a filling breakfast.
That was, until they changed the flavour, now I cant stand it! So now I'm currently struggling to find anything like it to fill the gap.
Hi Geem,
Weight wellness should not be something that you deprive your self with. Good nutrition is becoming harder to achieve in our busy demanding lifestyle. When your body is receiving the nutrition it requires all food cravings can cease. Our body is amazing, and needs to maintain substance. If that nutritional substance is not met then you find yourself grazing that fridge. What works for me and change my life for energy, vitality and mental clarity improvement is the weight wellness system and support, happy to chat further. Vicki

I've been on level 3 for nearly 2 weeks and I'm feeling really down and can't stop crying, do the shakes reduce the effect of antidepressants?

You really should consult with your GP
Hi Fiona,
It saddens me to hear you struggling so much to achieve weight wellness here. Good nutrition is linked to improvement in mood. Congratulations on your decision to improve your health, how ever it is not easy on your own, support family does help. Understanding nutrition can be confusing, and depending on what you are doing will depend on the results you achieve. Weight wellness is easier to achieve with guidance and supportive culture. The body is demanding when it’s nutritional requirements are not being met. It holds onto the weight and you can crave more food constantly, that is its way to replace the nutrients that it requires to function. Makes sense when you graze that fridge tonight, yes. Reseeding your body for weight wellness is achievable and I am here if you would like to discuss further. Regards Vicki

I am have weight loss op in 4 months how many meals do you replace with optifast?
2 answers
I think they say 2 meals and then the other meal is 1 cup of veggies (not startchy, carbs) and protein the size of your palm. That’s what friends have done and lost heaps up to pre surgery. Good luck with your journey
You actually have 3 optifast a day- one can be a bar or desert (like for after your dinner) dinner you have 100grms of protein meat like fish? Chicken etc and salad or veg- but not carb veg like potatoes.
