Great Shakes & Bars - Terrible Soup

published

Under the supervision of my doctor and dietitian, I've been on the intensive Optifast level diet for two months now and lost 18.5kg. The shakes and bars are great, but the soup is disgusting!

Chocolate dessert

I used to buy the chocolate desserts as they were delicious. They have now changed the formula and quite frankly it now tastes disgusting. I don’t understand why they would alter a good thing.

Follow the Diet strictly, reaps great rewards.

published

Despite being owned by a massive multi-national that produces a range of high calorie foods (ie- Allan’s lollies & Kit Kat chocolate), Nestle have pioneered a great product range that really does support weight loss.

The Optifast shakes whilst more expensive than other products on the market, are more nutritious and contain a larger volume per sachet. The taste and consistency of the shakes are quite pleasant to drink and do a reasonable job of curbing the appetite although the first 4 days of taking the shakes is always the hardest.

I lost 9 kilos in the first 4 weeks of taking the optifast shakes, by substituting 2 out of 3 meals with the shakes alongside a low calorie meal once per day.

Why did they change?

published

I agree. I lost ten kg and used both the chocolate and lemon for years but I had to throw the new boxes I bought out. They have gone from pleasant to disgusting. Please bring back the old flavours.

Optifast Dessert Chocolate Mousse new recipe is awful

published

The old Optifast Chocolate Mousse was what kept me on track as it satisfied my chocolate cravings!
I used it for years & still enjoyed it.

This new recipe I cannot stand. It leaves an awful taste in your mouth that doesn't seem to go away. Why change something that was working well?

Bring back the old recipe! I wont be buying this again unless it changes.

Great shakes + bars

published

Love the products, especially the banana flavoured shake. I am getting good results 5 kg in 3 weeks. However, I wished the chicken soup had some flavour, namely chicken as it is very bland.

Sickly sweet

published

I have tried the vanilla and chocolate. I find them very sweet and the sweetness over rides the chocolate or vanilla flavour.
I tried optifast many years ago and thought they were better back then, less sweet more flavour?
Maybe I am wrong?
I won’t be finishing the boxes.

Need to lose weight? And fast?

published

Optifast is a very low calorie diet that puts your body into ketosis, making you lose fat fast.
I have tried the shakes, the desserts, the bars and one of the soups and all are delicious.
You can add ice to the shakes to make them a bit more creamy and filling.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a high protein, low carb delicious way of losing weight.

Taste

published

I tried Optislim and Optifast bars . Not for the weight loss purpose but more as an occasional snack as they are large in size and filling. They both work on the same premise which is help customers lose weight. Depending on your budget, if you want better taste and overall quality of the bars then Optifast wins.

If you ignore the critics, it works!

published

I love the chocolate & the caramel shakes, the chocolate bars and I can sometimes eat the desserts. The Optifast diet does work if you are capable of ignoring all the negative people say about it e.g. you'll put all the weight back on and more if you use Optifast - this is typical to any diet if you continue eating the way you did previous to your diet, it's how you became overweight/obese in the first place. Use the Optifast Facebook groups to help answer any questions and you'll be fine! I lost 4.6kgs in one week and then progressively lost 1.5kgs on average each week over 11 weeks. If you go in with a glass half empty, you'll fail; if you go in prepared to give it a fair shot, you'll achieve your goals.

if you stick to it for 9 to 12 weeks, it works 100 percent
if not, you waste your money, try to overcome the first two weeks
have also a cup of self-made vegetable soup

Worked for me when other diets didn't

published

I stuck to the Chocolate and liked the taste, even looked forward to them. I stayed on the diet for 8 weeks with almost no cheating. I started at 198 lbs and a BMI of 31. I ended at 164 and a BMI of 24.6. At my 8 week Doctor visit the Doc told me I had reached the goals he had in mind and that I could start phase two of the program. I felt like I had really accomplished something big. I would recommend this diet. It is hard but worth it. Good luck to you all.

The chicken soup was so revolting. I’ve had 1 pack and I dread having to finish the whole pack. The chocolate shake is nice. But pls don’t buy the chicken soup.

A bit sweet but still good

I've tried all favours and I like tomato soup favours most.
These products work for me because I have tried other similar brand and they all make my throat feeling uncomfortable after having their product for a few days.

I would like to try Optifast as I am struggling to lose weight. I have a mammalian meat allergy and in particular I am allergic to Alpha-gal. a carbohydrate that is attached to mammalian meat. I can eat all poultry and seafood products. With regards to the protein in Optifast in the whey powder, could you please tell me if it comes from mammal meat or if it is from poultry or seafood.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards

Clover

Hi Marlene,
I lost 22kg, got rid of my high blood pressure and my fatty liver last year by cutting out sugar and counting carbs not calories. I avoid processed foods. I found these slimming shakes and powders do not work and are certainly not sustainable. Look at low carb receipes for inspiration.
Good luck

Marlsie

Thank you clover for your response. I was tempted to look at the shakes because a friend did so well with them, but you are right, you just need to focus on something that works, like a low carb diet. I do have the recipe books for such a diet.
