Best juicer out there

published

I have been studying juicers for a few months to make sure i get the correct one for me, this is it hands down. Using the machine is easy juice is fantastic and it is so easy to clean and for its quality it's at a fantastic price. The juice it produces would cost you $5 to $10 at a retail shop bargain in my mind and a must have in every ones household.

Best Juicer on Market - Hands Down!

published

I spent a great deal of time looking for the best juicer and in the end I chose the Optimum 600. Very happy with my choice. As a raw vegan, I need a good juicer that extracts all the essential nutrients from my fruit and vegetables. The optimum delivers. The juice tastes perfect, its quick and easy with the wide mouth, its easy to clean, and the juice is great. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants a serious juicer for optimum health benefits.

Awesome Juicer

I have had my juicer for about 3 weeks and it's the best juicer ever. I have never drunk as many vegetables and fruit as I have since getting this juicer, the reason why is because I didn't like many vegetables, most of the vegetables I have had since getting the juicer I have never eaten but now I not only drink them but love them and I juice everyday, plus the benefits so far I have lost 2kg

great thing about it is that it’s safe for my grandchildren to use

published

My 10 year old Panasonic juicer finally gave up the ghost a few months ago. My daughter recommended that I should replace it with an Optimum 600 juicer instead (the optimum juicers were used at The Real Food Revolution events last year). I felt confident paying a little more for it as I also have been using an Optimum blender for a couple of years and it’s never missed a beat. I am really impressed with both products. I grow my own veges and use the juicer at least once every couple of days. The other great thing about it is that it’s safe for my grandchildren to use which is fantastic as it encourages them to drink freshly made juices.

Love my optimum 600

published

I have a new optimum baby... A brother for my optimum blender....... But seriously it's a wonderful juicer. I had a top of the line centrifugal juicer which was a good machine..but the juice I get from this baby is soooo much tastier. People complain about pulp.. I actually like some pulp but it's so easy to pour through a strainer..the optimum produces so much more juice than my old juicer, the extra price was worth it. It only takes minutes to clean.. I tend to run some water through it after juicing and it virtually cleans itself.. A quick scrub of the mesh and everything rinsed under the tap and you're done. Good on ya Froothie, you did it again. :-)

Very pleased with this product

published

My old, tired juicer seemed to waste so much fruit and veg and still delivered a pulpy drink. I am so pleased I have upgraded to the Optimim 600. It produces fantastic results and it so easy to clean (something that my last juicer definitely wasn't). Whilst it was quite a price increase, I wish I had done it right the first time and bought the Optimim 600 rather than a cheapy that didn't last.

I started out going to buy a different Juicer and got suckered in buy Froothies great marketing and all the good reviews on this site. For everything but kale and celery it works great, I have tried alternating fruit veg and leafy greens and it blocks up every time the best I have had it work is to do carrots beetroot apple and citrus first followed by celery and kale cut into 25mm bits and then it doesn't block up half as bad. the only thing stopping my sending it back is another Juicer might be worse.

I am in love

After trying two different juicers in the past and both finding their way to the back of the cupboard, I decided to try a third time, and happened to see a you tube clip of the Ultimate 600. Less than a week later it arrived. It was love at first sight:-). It is quiet, sturdy, well built, gives minimal dry pulp (which you can use for other dishes - fun to experiment with), and delicious, non frothy juice that's lasts a day easily in the fridge. I like to make up my juices each night for the next day. I find it easy to clean, and just so easy to use. I would highly recommend one to anyone!

We've climbed the juicing ladder over the last couple of years to be lucky enough to have one of these babies-wow-changed our lives! Everyday no matter what or where we juice. This machine gives us more juice, less pulp, and Froothies service has been great. Thought the 400 was fantastic but this one takes the cake. Didn't know you could squeeze so much out of a kale & spinach leaf. REVOLUTIONARY! Never felt so fantastic in all my life. To have the blender would top it off for sure:) Thanks Froothie

Brilliant juicer.

published

I have had my juicer for a little while now and absolutely love it. Cannot find fault with it. I have had a couple of domestic juicers and a commercial juicer (all centrifugal), the difference is black and white. A dense juice with no froth on top, that my other juicers have produced. Very little pulp, and that doesn't get tossed, goes towards making patties, bliss balls, muffins etc. I highly recommend this juicer. So simple to use and clean up is a breeze.

I'm in love with this amazing machine.

New to juicing and after doing a bit of research I made a wise investment and purchased the Optimum 600 and now I'm off and juicing. I've even started to juice Kale and I hate the stuff but add it into a veggie juice with some green apple and I can't taste it but know how good it is for the body. Even my kids whom are fussy eaters are now having juice with all the hidden veggie's and asking for more.
Soon to try the hummus and frozen fruit ice-cream.

I do agree that celery does clog up the shute but it's manageable to clean with the brush provided.

600 1st Generation

I purchased optimum 600 and it seems the pulp gets stuck in the tube causing my juice to have alot of pulp. Am i doing something wrong?

Katrina, I'm wondering whether you are using the right strainer? You need the fine one to screen out more of the pulp, and the coarser strainer is good for smoothies. If you have further questions, ask Froothie - they have good customer service. Good luck, it's a great juicer and provides far more juice than other ones I've had in the past.

Optimum Appliances
Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances

Hi Katrina, I can definitely help you out with that! I’d be glad to :-)
Here are a few points we've compiled that are important to achieving the best results:

1) Do not press/shove food into the juicer - Do not use a pushing/pressing/shoving force with the Optimum Juicer or any other slow juicer. There is no spinning blade and no dizzying shredding taking place. No pressing is required. Instead, simply let your food fall into the "chewing auger." Virtually no force is necessary, and forcing more food into the chute can cause too much vegetable mass to clog in the auger, resulting in pulp overflowing into your juice, or the juicer becoming blocked.
When juicing grasses, feed the Optimum Juicer a small amount of grass at a time, cutting the grass into short pieces approximately 3cm long. This ensures the waste can easily come out of the waste chute. You do not need to "clump" the grass into a ball. In fact, you can slowly feed small strands of grass, coriander, parsley, kale, spinach and other leafy greens without any force necessary.

A great tip for large leafy, stringy or fibrous vegetables is to remove the leaf from the stem, cut both leaves and stems into 3-5cm lengths and feed through gently, letting the auger pull the ingredients into the juicer, using the tamper only gently if required.
2) Juice low-fibre plants first, and high-fibre plants last - Here's a really important tip: If you're going to juice high-fibre plants like celery or spinach, juice them last! Why? Because the fibres in celery tends to accumulate in the ejection port at the bottom of the juicing auger. If this port becomes clogged, then "pulp overflow" will occur, sending extra pulp into your juice. Following Tip #1 though will minimise the chances of this occurring to almost zero.
As long as the ejection port stays open, the pulp in your juice will be minimised. The best way to do this is to juice low-fibre fruits and veggies first: Apples, carrots, etc. and saving the stringier, fibrous plants for last. This will lead to a much better result when your concern is the amount of pulp in the final juice.
NB: If you are planning on juicing large amounts and do not mind a very small amount of pulp in the juice another alternative (to ensure you do not block the juicer), is to alternate your leafy greens and stringy items, with the harder items like carrot and beetroot.
3) Insert red plug correctly - Make sure the red rubber plug/tongue/stopper on the underside of the juicing bowl, is correctly inserted into its slot. This part is removable to assist with cleaning but often not reinserted correctly. It acts as a pressure point to ensure pulp ejects from the waste chute.
4) Juice your juice - If you still find too much pulp in your juice, simply pour the juice back through the machine again and you will find that the second time through, nearly all the pulp is removed. You can also strain it through a nut-milk bag, if you wish, but that takes more time and effort.

Can pineapple be placed in the juicer without peeling it, also with pineapple do you have to take the middle core out of the pineapple first?

3 answers
KtB
KtB

Absolutely - I regularly juice a whole pineapple. The peel has most of the bromelain in it, so keep it on, but it's a good idea to just roughly grate the skin back a bit, so that there's no risk of blocking the juicer. Leave the central core in, except for the very end bit. You can either slice the pineapple thickly and then cut each slice into thirds, or cut the whole pineapple into strips lengthwise - either is fine.
Hope this helps!

Yes you can juice whole pineapples. I remove the leaves and also cut the spikey skin off purely to save unnecessary strain on the machine but the juicer is tough and can handle it.

Hello Kerry, better late than never :)
We could not have said it better than KtB and Tiff1971!

Here are some more juicing tips:

You can find tips on using a slow juicer and avoiding any blockage while reducing pulp here: froothie.com.au/Juicer-FAQ.php

Tip #1) Do not press/shove food into the juicer

Most of us have juiced with the old-style centrifugal juicing machines. If you recall, those machines require you to forcefully press/shove food into them, and allow large items like whole apples. You are required to push hard on carrots and apples to shove them into the spinning blade where they are shredded into tiny flying pieces.

Do not use this same pushing/pressing/shoving force with the Optimum Juicer or any other slow juicer.

Tip #2) Juice low-fibre plants first, and high-fibre plants last

Here's a really important tip: If you're going to juice high-fibre plants like celery or spinach, juice them last! Why? Because the fibres in celery tends to accumulate in the ejection port at the bottom of the juicing auger. If this port becomes clogged, then "pulp overflow" will occur, sending extra pulp into your juice. Following Tip #1 though will minimise the chances of this occurring to almost zero.
