My question is similar to others; comparing the 9200A with the 9400 and trying to decide between the two...my husband makes satay sauce from scratch, which I am guessing is similar to the nut butters described, but I am wondering whether the "slow", "medium" or "fast" options will heat up (not desired) while mixing, and I would be better off to get him the 9400, so that he could run it for longer than the limited time buttons...I noticed in the above comparison description, it says that the 9400 "allows you more control over the speed, which is great when using the Blender for chopping, grinding and food preparation"...does this mean it would be a better choice for this purpose? I also want to use it for smoothies, so am swaying toward the 9200A for this use...help me decide please!

Hi Alison, I have not made satay sauce, not my thing, but I have made nut butter and the results were great. I was very impressed. I own the 9200A, due to my digestion I have to adjust the consistency to totally blended to a bit "chunky". I am able to do this with the 9200A. As for smoothies, I am totally sold on the 9200A, it blends to perfection plus you can walk away and let it blend. Or if needed add ingredients while it's blending. As for the satay, I would guess the slow option with small bursts would work (this would keep the heat low) but again I am guessing. My question to you, what are you going to use it the most for?? Smoothies or satay??? I would definitely buy the 9200A for the smoothies. I use my blender at least 6 times a day. It's one of the most used items in my kitchen. If you contact the company and speak to them they may be able to help you as they are very friendly and helpful with questions. Good luck, I could not live without my blender now. I hope this is useful.
It's hard to say for sure as I've only used the 9200A, but I have noticed with the medium and high settings the food I'm blending does heat up slightly, but I would agree with Emma that smoothies with ice are perfection. The Froothie website has a live chat, perhaps you could swing by there and ask.
Thank you! I went ahead and ordered the 9200A; looked too good to pass up; and I can't wait to give it to my hubby for Christmas!! Thank you for the advice! Cheers, Alison.
FarFedasked
Hi! I would like to know the answers to the following points:
1) Is the 9200A jug base made of stainless steel or plastic? (As compared to the 9400's which is made of stainless steel, is that correct?)
2) Do both 9200A and 9400 have the "motor fuse" facility that shuts down the machine if it is over-stressed?
3) Do both 9200A and 9400 have the same blade assembly i.e. are the lengths of 6-blade assembly the same?
1 answer
Mario N.Optimum Appliances
Hello FarFed,
Thank you for your query, please see below our answers to your questions :-)
1.The base plate of the Optimum 9200A is stainless steel with a plastic coating whereas the Optimum 9400 is stainless steel with a nylon coating.
2. All of our High Speed Vortex Blender models come with a built in protection circuitry which if the machine feels it is going to overheat, it will shut itself off. In this instance we have an overload protection switch on the base of the machine to be pressed which will reset the machine.
3.With the recent update of the Optimum 9200A the longer blades of the 9400 (that are effective for chopping and grinding) were placed in the 9200A due to popularity.

It's very difficult to get thicker foods like nut butters, hummus, etc. out of the bottom of the blender as the blades obstruct your scraper. Can the blade assembly detach from the jug or is it just something I have to live with?

I don't actually know, but yes I know what you mean. I usually use a spatula to get it out. However, some of my best recipes have been discovered by must adding more liquid to give them a different texture :)

Here are a few points we've compiled that are important to achieving the best results
1. Roasted nuts release their oil content more readily than raw nuts, this makes the process of forming a butter quicker and simpler. The less time the nuts take to blend, the less heat is generated which is good for both the nuts and the blender! Note: the roasted nuts need to be completely cool before you attempt to blend them. This isn't to say you can't make nut butter from raw nuts but we suggest you get used to the process with roasted nuts first and then make the transition once you're comfortable!
2. High Speed - Make sure to use the highest speed on the blender when making any thick recipe, especially nut butter. Using high speed gets the job done faster, generating less heat and reducing strain on the motor.
3. Use the Tamper tool - The tamper tool needs to be used to constantly press the ingredients down from the sides of the jug, making sure it's being processed by the blades. Air pockets will naturally form if nothing is done to stop them so we recommend constantly tamping around the edge of the jug until the process is completed. Note: Make sure not to rest the tamper in the center of the jug (directly above the blades) while blending, this will effectively close the center of the vortex and block air from circulating.
4. Make sure the nuts are dry - If you soak or activate nuts for nut butter, please ensure that they're totally dry before attempting to blend. Using a dehydrator will achieve the fasted/best results though make sure the nuts are totally cooled before blending.
5. Quantity - As a rule of thumb, you should always at least cover the blades by 1-2cm. We recommend a maximum of 3 to 4 cups of nuts to make sure you're not overloading the blender. This figure can vary depending on the natural oil content of the nuts. The higher the oil content, the larger the quantity that can be blended at once. On the contrary, if you're using nuts with lower oil content, a lower quantity may be applicable.
6. Adding liquid - Avoid adding water into the mixture, it will likely make the mixture clumpy and prevent it from properly forming butter. If you're adding any flavorings or powders, please add them once the butter has already formed. If the mixture is too dry, you can add small amounts of oil, we prefer an oil with a neutral flavor. This shouldn't affect blending, just flavor.
If you find the process taking far too long or notice any smoking or steaming coming from any part of the blender please stop the process and contact customer service to make sure your blender is functioning correctly.
Here are some great recipes to use:
https://www.froothie.com.au/veggie-vegan-and-raw-blender-recipes
To get the best results, place food in the jug in the following order:
1. First liquids.
2. Then soft foods/vegetables.
3. Last add frozen produce and ice.
Hope that helps!

Hi, why is there no smaller jug available for the 9400 as the 9200A has a 1.2L option..would like to buy the 9400 for the dial control
but need the smaller jug to fit unit in. Also on the 9200 are you able to let the blender run for say 5 mins without having to keep
pressing the second buttons? Thanks
1 answer
Mario N.Optimum Appliances
Hello Michelle,
Thank you for your query.
The supplier Optimum is currently looking into producing a smaller size Jug for the Optimum 9400.
The Optimum 9200A has button controls, with three speed settings (Slow, Medium and Fast) and three timer settings (20 seconds, 35 seconds and 45 seconds).
The timer settings are pre-set to work at a fluctuating speed for the pre-set amount of time. You can put your smoothie ingredients in a jug and press the 35 second button and the blender will blend the smoothie and stop automatically after 35 seconds.
Whereas the speed settings of Slow, Medium and Fast will keep the blender operating until you turn off manually. For instance when making a soup you would press the Fast and the machine would run for the 5-6 minutes required before you manually stop it.

How much did it cost? Is it easy clean? Is it compact?
2 answers
Hi, it cost me $479.00 plus $19 postage and handling, so $498 in all. I find it easy to clean but it's by no means compact. The base is quite heavy and ideally you wouldn't want to be moving it in an out of a cupboard. Also, once the jug is own it stands quite tall.
Mario N.Optimum Appliances
Hello Apple1,
Thank you for your query :-)
Can you please advise where you are based, so we can ensure to send you through the correct pricing information.
The Optimum 9200A is extremely easy to clean; simply fill the Jug with warm water and a few drops of washing liquid and place it back on the machine. Blend for 20-30 seconds, rinse out and leave to air dry.
The base of the Optimum 9200A is approximately 22cm x 22cm, and the height with both the base and Jug is approximately 52cm.

I got mine online from froothie.nl but on the box was standing 9200? I bought the 9200A on the site. How can I know if I have the 9200 or the 9200A?
The slow button doesn't work separately. Medium and Fast do work. Is this normal or is it broken?
3 answers
Hi, I don't have the box anymore but I'm pretty sure it said 9200A Second Generation. However, the registration id on the machine itself only says 9200 and the instructions also only talk about the 9200. Now you have me worried!
I only use the buttons with the seconds, mostly the 45 second button.
You should call "Froothie". I understand that their customer service is very good.
I'll be following with great interest what you find out.
What is the strength of the motor (see the label on the back)? The 9200A should have 2,611 Watts. The old model had 2,238 Watts.
I hope this helps.

Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances
Hi xlucindaaaa,
I apologise for the confusion. The Optimum 9200A (2nd Gen) has been relaunched but the packaging currently does still say 9200. The blender has had a significant number of changes, including improving the motor for increased speed and power, using higher quality parts, the jug and the overall appearance.
If the Slow button doesn’t work, this does sound there is an issue with the blender base. Please contact our Repairs and Warranty department on their 24/7 website at www.froothiesupport.com and we will be able to investigate and rectify this for you.
Have a lovely day :)

What will the wattage be if I plug this model into 120 volts instead 254,40 volts? Thanks.

Hi, will there be an updated version of the 9400 as well? (Like the 9200A with 3.5 HP motor). I would buy an updated version immediately because I find the dial much better than the buttons with 3 fixed speeds. Honestly, who doesn't have the time to wait 30 seconds by the mixer to switch it off again? By the way, what speeds do the three buttons (low, med, high) represent? Thanks.
2 answers
I was thinking the same thing! Is this question going to be answered?
Athena Solutions Pty LtdOptimum Appliances
Hi Germanguy, better late than never :-) I'm happy to say that the 2nd generation of the Optimum 9400 was launched earlier last year. As expected, we were overwhelmed with orders from customers such as yourself that really loved the 1st generation of the Optimum 9400 and currently, the product is Sold Out. Hope you got your chance to get it by now :-). If not, you can give the Optimum 9200A a go and if it doesn't fit your blending needs you can always return it within the 30 Day Trial Period.
The Speed settings on the Optimum 9200A control pad have the following functionality:
SLOW speed - Use to chop and slice. Always switch to SLOW speed when adding food or liquid
during blending. 13000RPM +5%/-10%
MED (Medium) speed - Ideal for slightly harder to blend mixtures and to avoid significant heat rise of
jug contents. 23000RPM +5%/-10%
FAST speed - Use to refine grains, break down ice, and to blend frozen fruit, whole fruits and
vegetables. 26000RPM +5%/-10%
With pulse button: 48000RPM
Hope this helped and cheers to your health!

Is the only difference between the 9200A to the 9400 is the buttons pannel?
can you please tell me which one is newer and which one is more recommended?
many thanks.
1 answer
Mario N.Optimum Appliances
Hello Liat. R;
Below is a great comparison between our most popular models, the Optimum 9200A and 9400:
The Optimum 9200A is our commercial best-selling model, perfect for making smoothies, juices, nut butters, hot soups, ice creams, salsas, dips etc. The Optimum 9200A is a commercial-grade blender, therefore will last you many years without any issues. It is also equipped with a great timer function, perfect for making smoothies on the go
The Optimum 9400 is identical to the Optimum 9200A, manufactured using the same high-quality durable parts. The main difference is functionality: dial (9400) vs. buttons (9200A). The benefits of the dial are more control, and the benefit of the buttons is the automatic timer function which is great for smoothies and juices on the go. The dial allows you more control over the speed, which is great when using the Blender for chopping, grinding and food preparation.
The Optimum 9200A is also slightly faster than the Optimum 9400 due to the stronger motor, 3HP with a speed of 44,000RPM (9400) vs. 3.5HP with a speed of 48,000RPM (9200A).
The Optimum 9200A is most recently updated model.
Kind Regards.

Wondering if you can you select the slow, medium and fast buttons (on the 9200A) without having a set time (via the timer buttons) or do you always have to select the timer buttons? - I am thinking of the hot soup option and that i'd have to keep pressing the 45 second button to keep it going for ten minutes (for example).
You mentioned in another response that the 9400 is better for kneading bread - is that because you can select a very slow speed in contrast to the 9200A which only has the one 'slow' button? thanks
2 answers
The slow, medium, and fast buttons are separate to the timer buttons. The timer buttons are to have it set for a selected period of time and adjusts it's speed automatically. The slow, medium, and fast buttons when presses stay on for as long as you want until you press them again and turn it off.
Mario N.Optimum Appliances
Hello Rachel,
With the Optimum 9200A you have three timer options and three speed options, these work independently of each other.
The automatic timer function works at a fluctuating speed, which is great for smoothies and juices on the go.
The speed settings; LOW, MEDIUM AND HIGH, work manually and need to be pressed to be turned on and pressed again to turn them off.
When making a hot soup, you would use the speed setting HIGH, for 5-6 minutes until it reaches a steaming temperature.
You can absolutely use the Optimum 9200A to make dough, by following these instructions:
Step 1. Put the ingredients in the Blender, making a well with the flour for the liquid ingredients.
Step 2. Press the PULSE button 4-5 times.
Step 3. Scrape down the sides.
Step 4. Repeat Steps 2 & 3 until you reach the desired consistency.
Have a lovely day :-)
Kind Regards

Will it grind rice (brown rice) to make flour?
4 answers
Haven't tried that...I've only had it 3 days
I haven't tried either, but it should if it can make almond meals. Of course with hard grains like rice grains, it will take longer.
Mind you, it is probably one of the most powerful domestic blender there is on market at this point in time.
Thanks ladies for your replies. Am loving it so far and will give the rice a go sometime, so far haven't ventured too far except for yummy smoothies and also my partner goes fishing and catches herring, so he partially cooked up a stock in the pot on the stove with the the fish carcasses (no tails or heads) and blitzed in the Optimum and it was as smooth as silk, tasted great and of course all the goodness of the calcium etc from the bones. I was a bit wary at first, but worked a treat!

Hello Lifestyle change, better late than never :)
For hot food processing, the Optimum has the option of blending food at a HIGH speed, spinning the six stainless steel blades very fast to produce friction heat. In a few minutes, the soup or other food will be served steaming hot.

Will it pulverise carrots to make carrot and celery juice?
3 answers
Hi Deborah - I do smoothies in it and use celery carrot and beetroot along with greens etc and it is great - bear in mind it makes a smoothie so the texture is thick - but you can add water if you like it more like juice - you get the insoluble fibre with a smoothie which makes it a bit more filling than juice. I love both juice and smoothies - they are just different! Hope this helps :)
Wonderful thanks Betsy.

Like Betsy already mentioned I can only confirm that the Optimum 9200A can puree carrots and celery in seconds :)

Will it grind almonds for Almond milk?

Mario N.Optimum Appliances
Hi Julie, definitely, within seconds :-) You can see the various functions here on the supplier's website: http://www.optimumblender.com/domestic-buyers.html
I haven't tried milked almonds yet but it goes through dates really easily and I can only imagine it would go through nuts with ease.
Yes! It's fantastic. If you want to strain your nut milk, get a nut milk bag and then you can easily use the grinds for adding extra protein to things like baked goods.

Hi, I am wanting to upgrade my blender and I am looking between the optiblend V and the optimum range. Can anybody advise as to which would be the better product. Get the Optimum 9200A (2nd Gen) for these things. The optimum blenders are one of the best on the market.

Hi Cornish, I may have been a bit too late with this reply but hopefully, you'll still find it useful after all this time. I don't think Optiblend is still on the market but I can say for sure that the Optimum range is still running strong.
As Matthew M was pointing out a while ago, the Optimum 9200A (2nd Gen) is still one of our top blender models that rivals the Vitamix 5200 but for more than half the price.
You can easily prepare Nut Butter, Nut Milk, Crush Ice, Grind Coffee beans and even Hot Soup in the Optimum 9200A and if you have time, here's a comparison video vs the Thermomix from one our partners - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjzJ7TsootE
