Not bad but have had problems with hard drives for recording failing?

published

Has good clear picture and works well with Netflix etc, but cannot get Freeview for any of the commercial channels (not on the menu and cant import them)? Has a problem with hard drives for recording working for only a few weeks before its not being recognised, you lose what has been recorded and re fomatting is the only fix (tried other new drives and sold 1TB as the supposed fix) Disappointed with this problem.

Purchased in November 2021 at Harvey Norman for A$3,099.00.

Good TV, but limitations

published

Decided to update to a newer smart 55 inch TV about 12 months ago. Did my research, and this model came up fairly well - good clear picture, easy to set up, works well with my sound system and Netflix etc, but cannot get Freeview for any of the commercial channels (not on the menu and cant import them), then a couple of months ago one of the USB plugs stopped working and cant record TV shows. A good basic TV, but if I knew about the limitations, I would have stuck with Samsung or Sony. I have had these in the past, and no problems.

Purchased in April 2021 at Harvey Norman for A$2,100.00.

Excellent, true to life picture quality

published

I have used my new TV for 7 months now, and I can honestly say that this OLED 4K TV is the best Panasonic TV I have had yet. It's true-to-life picture quality is remarkable, it makes watching sport feel like you're there. Movies are cinema-quality, and everyday shows - sharp and clear.
I fine-tuned the settings to achieve the best picture and sound quality (I found you tube experts with a step by step guide). This is important if you want to make the most of the TV quality.
Although 4K shows are still limited, it's the way to go as more and more 4K shows are added, especially on cable channels.

Purchased in January 2021.

Thank you RBell for taking the time to provide such a positive review. 4K is definitely a great way to watch TV, and on an OLED is even better :) Happy viewing.

Excellent TV

published

Great picture you can only get from an OLED and this is one of the best out of the box from the current crop. It won HDTV test for best TV in 2018 and have been really impressed so far. Screen is free from any defects such as vertical banding, only downside is it lacks support for Dolby Vision but does have HDR10+. It does Upscaling and motion handling better than the LG OLED'S but not as good as Sony, although it does come very close.

Purchased in April 2021 at Appliances Online for A$2,700.00.

Great TV with some minor details missed

published

On a technical level the TV is great. Crystal clear TV, good HDR support, Great sound even without a soundbar. But with missing things like, Stan (Streaming service), and an option to change audio tracks for videos its a little distraction from how good the TV is visually. If they fix a couple small problems here and there it would be 5/5 stars. By adding stan it would go up to 5, but for now its a fantastic TV with some small issues overlooked.

TH-65FZ950U (65")

I notice some blurry-pixelating around people/items when they move on our TH-65FZ950U, any tips on smoothing this out with settings available? Thanks

On your remote, go to Menu>Picture>Intelligent frame creation. I set mine to MIN (minimum), so the images are not too smooth (which is called the soap opera effect), but not too blurry (like action movies). You can read more about this feature here: https://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/televisions-learn/engineer-interview/4k-intelligent-frame-creation.html
You should also fine tune your picture settings to maximise your viewing experience. Factory settings alone are never good enough. Here is a youtube video that really helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUP2ovGOqdQ

TH-55FZ950U (55")

Hi, Achtlos,

Have you been "Achtsam" regarding the power consumption of the TH-55FZ950U?
I intend to possibly buy one tomorrow. The "real black" looked pretty good.

The back of the TV says 1.69A, which would mean more than 400W, but the consumption-sticker says
439 (kW/year), which translates into 120W (in standard mode).
Standard mode does look pretty average compared to Dynamic mode, which has a higher consumption.

Is there any chance that you could measure the real consumption in standard mode and in dynamic today with a power meter, before I buy one tomorrow?

A lightning surge killed my 3D Panasonic yesterday... ;(

Cheers, Peter

Honestly, i didn't look at power consumption at all. It doesn't run hot like my older tvs, so I figure it draws less power.

Hi, thanks for the answer. I figured it out meanwhile: See my review, which I wrote in the same place, where you wrote yours.
I would have loved to buy that TV, but sadly, it consumes too much power - it fluctuates permanently between 120/130 and 300W, mainly around 200W.
