Great bread, horrible customer support
First 6 loaves worked really great, absolutely faultless and very easy to use. Bread came out as well as my best ones when made lovingly by hand. The shape of the tin makes the loaves a bit tall, but some creative knifework still makes for very toastable slice sizes.
The 7th loaf also appeared to be a success however when washing up, I discovered that the paddle no longer attached securely to the spindle at the base of the baking tin. I tried the other (rye bread) paddle and found the same problem (there is about 30 degrees of play) so somet...Read more
hing has happened to the spindle in the tin. Reading similar occurrences from other owners, the machine is now unusable as the paddle will detach during mixing. Currently awaiting a reply from Panasonic customer support. edit: Just baked my 8th loaf with the extremely loose paddle, and to my surprise, not only did the bread turn out great, but the paddle stayed in the tin when I shook the loaf out! Panasonic customer support however was horrible. They take a long time to respond, and when they do, push you to buy replacement parts that almost cost more than the machine itself.Similar opinion? Exactly what you want in a bread machine
Purchased this bread machine after reading all the good reviews. I have previously owned other brands and had issues with the bread coming out like hard dense bricks. I was sick of having a bread machine that was only good for kneading. This machine makes amazing loaves, I mainly only bake white bread so I cannot comment on the other types of bread. My first attempt was the basic white loaf, I made the XL loaf expecting it to be average sized as that is what I was used to with my other machines but boy was I wrong, it was HUGE, I actually had t...Read more
rouble cutting the slices as it was so tall. My next attempt I made the sandwich bread, I love soft loaves of bread that are suitable for sandwiches and this loaf was exactly that, perfect sized and super soft, the only downfall is it takes 5 hours on this cycle. My go to loaf though has to be the rapid white loaf, the recipe booklet states not to use the rapid setting when possible and I have no idea why as I believe it makes the best loaf out of all 3 white loaves. I make a medium loaf on the light crust setting and omg it is better than the bread you get from the bakery. This is my default bread and I don't buy store bought any more. For anyone interested I use Lowan instant dried yeast which is kept in the fridge, Manildra Group bakers flour 10kg bag from costco and I also add 1.5 tsp bread improver as I found my bread was going stale too quick, this keeps it nice and soft for at least 3 days but it is usually eaten before then. I use a bread slicing guide which I find is a necessity for cutting even straight slices and also use a very fine serrated bread knife, I tried using a more coarse serrated knife and it just hacked at the bread. I have no real negatives about this machine that others haven't mentioned already, this machine is well worth the money spent.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Why did I wait so long!
As a bread maker newby, and after much research and deliberation, I finally opted for this model. Approx. $100 more than the Breville BBM100, but I didn't want to take the chance and be disappointed with a cheaper model so I paid the extra money, and very pleased I did.
This bread maker is excellent to say the least. Very easy to use, very quiet and bakes awesome bread.
I have only tried the basic white loaf, rapid white loaf recipes at this stage (I have adopted the white loaf recipe into a Cheese and Bacon loaf which was so tasty), but...Read more
the results have been amazing. No more supermarket bought bread for me. Oh, although the manual recommends not using the Bake Rapid Program, I have found this option to work extremely well and it produces a great Day-to-Day loaf for toast, sandwiches etc... Plus, you get a nice freshly baked loaf in only 2 hours (other programs are around 4-5 hours). The delayed timer option is really useful, especially if you want to wake up to freshly baked bread. My first concern with the timer (I first tried the timer overnight on a 11 hour delay) was the resting period and how it would affect the bread rising, but it didn't change anything.Similar opinion? Rubbish gluten free.
Had two rubbish gluten free loaves, went straight in the bin, didnt buy any more flour. All the other recipes are great and have tried most, but I bought this machine especially for the gluten free and gave my previous one to a friend who is thrilled. I do love the 2051 and use it several times a week. The cheese and oat loaf and the fruit breads are our favourites, from the previous machine book.

Amazed with the bread
Was a little skeptical at first, both at how much I would use this and the strong positive reviews. But, the reviews are spot on, this machine runs on autopilot and even an idiot like me and make great loaves of bread. Seriously, just follow the recipe and measure ingredients out and you can't go wrong.
Am making bread daily as it is that easy to do. The delay function is awesome.

The best
This is our 3rd machine over 20 years of home bread making and by far the best. It is still going strong after 2 years. The only function I miss from a previous machine, and this is minor, is a fan at the finish to cool the bread so you don't have to immediately take the loaf out of the machine. Also the smallest loaf is still pretty large so we rarely make the larger 2 loaf sizes. I use the delay function a lot: For some reason our bread is better when the ingredients are sitting in the machine say overnight for morning bread. Maybe it's to do with the temperature of the ingredients.

Replacement parts cost more than the cost of unit
The Big Wharehouse.com replacement parts online, want $124 for the bucket, $24 for the blade and $27 for postage. That’s $175 – almost the cost of the new product. What a scam!
Makes a good French loaf though - nice and crusty with soft white and light dough, the 6 hours it take the machine to make is worth it.

Easy to use. Great bread
I love this machine. Its easy to use and makes delicious bread. I did find the recipe given in the book used a bit too much salt so I added a little less and that turned out to be perfect for my taste. If you are looking for a bread maker I highly recommend this machine.

So glad to have this machine
After reading reviews, and because of my good experience with the quality of Panasonic appliances. I purchased this unit. It is so easy to use and clean. I bake with the Laudke mixes, they produce a lovely, natural tasting loaf. If able, I prefer the L size. After speaking to Laudke, they advised me to use all their premixes on the number 1 program, so will try this to see if the bread is better this way. I am saving so much money by baking my own bread, and prefer food with minimal preservatives.

Very happy with breadmaker, simple controls, just need to know what menu to use for a wrights cake mix, use wrights bread mix no problem, but because there is no cake menu on the breadmaker tried several times. Done it once, but can't remember how I done it, the bread is fantastic.

Good but problem with raisin bread
I don't know why for the past 3 raisin loaves, using spelt flour, they turn out with all the raisins burnt as they are all located on the outsides of the loaves. I have success in making raisin loaves with this machine before. Loaves with walnuts & flaxseeds come out well. Can you advise what can I do to resolve this problem? Otherwise, machine is good. Sad if I cannot make raisin loaves anymore. Please help.

A great bread machine
I previously owned a Breville that worked faithfully for over 10 years and I was happy with it, I couldn't imagine finding a better bread machine until I purchased this Panasonic! It has plenty of settings for different bread styles (thought the 2 basic settings of plain or fruit loaf are all I use) The fruit loaf setting drops the dried fruit into the dough at the correct time meaning I don't have to wait around to hear the 'beep' telling me to put the fruit in. It looks sleek, it's easy to use and the different settings are printed in the lid...Read more
for easy access. With 3 different loaf sizes and 3 different crust settings there is something for everyone. This machine has been our sole source of delicious bread for over 1 year, and I am very happy with it. It does have a setting for making jam which appealed to me but I haven't used it yet, maybe soon!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good but awkward shape.
This makes very good bread although the shape is a little awkward. The bread is bulky. Cut it in half from top to bottom then slice. The recipes that come with the maker work very well for bread but the Chocolate cake recipe is incorrect with the quantities I think. Anyhow, all in all, it does a good job & fresh home made bread is its own reward.

Too formulaic
Made 30+loaves. I'd like to experiment. But the set menus don't appear to allow meddling. No viewing window, no pause facility, problems like big holes, collapsed top.
Crust variations only work for some menus, the darkest setting is still pretty light.
Any ideas on how too make small variations welcome.

Good Bread. Bad Design.
Purchased to replace 10 year old loved Sunbeam Quantum Smartbake. Use regularly: bread and pizza dough:
GOOD: Functionality excellent. Menu listed inside lid (no need to memorize). Easy to use. Mixes well. Whisper quiet. Steadfast on counter, does not move or vibrate. Makes really good bread - better than my old Sunbeam ever did. Fluffy enough inside, supercrusty outside. That's what it's all about I guess. But I hope Panasonic read this review and do something about the design because... ugh:
BAD: Instead of a 'normal' loaf, the Panas...Read more

More than impressed with my new breadmaker
I pulled my Breville Big Loaf breadmaker out of long term storage to find that it would not work. I checked out the current breakmaker reviews and settled on this Panasonic. Absolutely no regrets. So much better than the Breville. First two loaves were a bit of a flop but then it was due to my getting used to the ingredient quantities again. I prepare the machine at night so that I can wake up to fresh bread. This thing is so super quiet it's a delight. I could never have the Breville operating at night. The whole house would be awake. Love the...Read more
auto fruit dispenser, it's indispensable. It is truly a set and forget machine. I have now made at least more than 10 loaves including white, multi-grain, german grain and fruit loaf and have been pleased with each result. I have used both pre-mix and full recipes. I would add though that I have found that adding a teaspoon of bread-improver seems to ensure a no fail result. I would definitely buy this breadmaker again.Similar opinion? Breville is better
I'm a Breville bread machine user with nearly 20 years experience. When I wanted an upgrade as the non-stick coating wasn't working so well, I bought the Panasonic as my daughter has one and she loves it. She only makes gluten free loaves, so perhaps that's the reason. I have had issues with loaves not rising properly, and I really hate the fact you can't adjust the crust unless making a basic white loaf which I don't do. I'm finding the crust is very hard and crumbly. I generally love all the recipes from the Breville instruction and recipe bo...Read more
ok. Most of the ones from the Panasonic are just not up to par. I rang Panasonic and they said they can't do anything about it, as the machine works fine. So I either put up with it or go back to the Breville, so I can adjust my settings to the way I want them to be. At the moment I'm using Breville recipes in the Panasonic!Similar opinion? Outstanding bread maker!
So I have been making bread every couple of weeks for a few years in a sunbeam machine, and I did enjoy the bread but it was never great, always a little bit crumbly and not all that elastic. I just thought that was how it goes with a homemade bread-maker. Anyway it died and I bought this Panasonic second hand on ebay and the bread is SO MUCH BETTER! I have made 10 loaves now and everyone has been perfect. Build quality far surpasses the old sunbeam, and although it takes 5 hours for a multi-grain loaf its definitely worth it.

I have the SD2501 and used it perfectly Friday. Two days later I plugged it back in to use and zero response from the display panel -nothing comes on. Checked the power point with other things and not a power point issue - any ideas before I have the expense of a repair - unit is not very old at all

You should take your device to a licensed repairer. There may be an internal fuse inside the machine that's tripped / blown, but if it has, it means there's a problem with the machine itself.

Hi Katrina, sorry to hear about the fault with your product, if the unit is still in warranty, please take it back to the retailer and they will assist you further.
