How do you turn off the timer on the 9220 model. I have tried to turn the dial Counter clock wise but I feel that I could break the knob.

2 answers
Will

Hi, yes the rotating timer knob does seem very tight and not inclined to be pushed in 'reverse'. However, on my machine, I found it will turn back 'counter-clock-wise' ok - and it has not broken by applying a little more pressure and turning it back. I've only needed to turn it backwards a few times when my food finished cooking a bit earlier than I'd estimated. If that's the same for your you, I'd suggest two options if your food finishes cooking sooner than you expected: 1. The rotating timer is a 'mechanical'-type control - therefore, if you turn your unit off at the wall when you don't want it to continue cooking, the timer will simply time-out by itself back to zero. 2. Simply apply a little more effort to rotate the knob backwards to zero as we've discussed - it will not break it. These mechanical-style timers (as opposed to digital-type timers with a digital readout) have been around a long time and have always needed a little more pressure to turn them in reverse back to zero. Hope this helps.

Hello Peggy,

Thanks for reaching out to ask this question. We can imagine that there are times when you want to turn the timer off yourself, especially if you feel that the food is already prepared. One way to turn the timer off is to turn it back to 0, but this will allow the appliance to turn off manually too. If you need more assistance, please feel free to contact our customer service on this number: 1300 363 391. You can reach out from Mondays to Saturdays between 7:00 am - 7:00 pm EST.

Viva Collection Air Fryer HD9220/20

I bought a Philips black HD 9220/24 (Viva Collection) Air Fryer last week in South Africa, but just realised that that my cash sale slip (which I need for guarantee purposes) scanned it as HD9216 white. They were both advertised at the same price. I am now concerned about the impact this has on my 2 year guarantee, since my slip details do not coincide exactly with my product.
Please advise me as I would hate to lose my guarantee. Thank you.

I don't think that will be a problem for you. The cost is the same which is important.

Hi Nira, thanks for your question. It is indeed important for model number on the product sticker and the one on the receipt to match, also because in this case one is a Viva Collection Airfryer and the other one a Daily Collection Airfryer (HD9216). We would advise you to contact the store about this. Please feel free to reach out to us via Facebook, Twitter or the local Customer Service line if you need any assistance.

Why is Philips Airfryer HD9220/20 is discontinued? I liked that model and trying to search if any stores sell that. Is there any way I can get that. Is there any difference between HD9620/20 and HD9621/11?

Philips S.Philips

Hi there,

It's great to see you liked the HD8110/20 so much! We're constantly improving on the products, so as you've seen, we've got some shiny new models that have taken over from the older models. Perhaps if you look for the older model online, someone is able to offer it to you still. But we'd advise having a look at the newer ones, of course. ;) At the moment, as far as we can see, we don't offer the HD9620/20. But you can have a look at all the models we do have here: https://www.philips.com.au/c-m-ho/cooking/airfryer/latest#filters=AIRFRYER_SU&sliders=&support=&price=&priceBoxes=&page=&layout=12.rating.p-grid-icon. If find one you like, you can select the 'compare' function above the image to see the differences between the models.
Hope this helps!

No, it will only turn off of you turn it off at the wall or when the timer finishes. I suppose if it turned off every time you pulled out the drawer, it would lose too much heat.

I have the optional extra rack that can double the effective space. Works fine. Just need to make sure you buy the one that fits your model. There are two sizes available - standard and XL.

Don't need to turn the food in general, although with chips or other foods that may be stuck to each other a quick shuffle (pulling out the drawer, shaking it, then putting it back in) is all that's needed.

Hi Siri,

Thanks for your question and interest in the Airfryers! We've looked into it for you and the number behind the slash indicates the colour of the model or where the product is sold. It doesn't have any influence on the product features since the numbers and letters before the slash determine that. We hope that answers your question. :-)

The timer knob starts my Viva Philips airfryer when that knob is rotated clockwise; then the airfryer stays on until the timer knob rotates back to zero. If yours doesn't start it might be faulty (mine's the cheep one with no electronics. I don't know anything about other Philips airfryers; and friends/family have different brands).

I bought a HD9220 about six months ago and use it almost daily. But the catch that holds the basket in place no longer works. It is quite a difficult and possibly dangerous operation to remove cooked food without special lying everything.
How can this be fixed? While it is probably still under warranty I have mislaid the receipt.

Lyn,

Your Air Fryer comes with a 2 year warranty, if i were you i would contact their customer service centre, to see what they can do if you have not got a receipt they are normally a friendly helpful company.

The problem you are experiencing happened to me too but that was because i dropped the drawer, i was a bit wary using it, as you are.

If i were you i would not use it until you contact them, as it could be dangerous and someone could get burnt.

Their phone number is 1300 363 391 and you can contact them from 7 am till 7 pm Monday to Saturday.

Hope that helps,

Hello, I just want to ask your opinions about the capacity of this specific model. It is 0.8kg and I'm wondering if the size is fine for a family of 3, where one is a toddler. I'm also looking at the Smith and Noble brand but the 3L cap looks too big. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
There are 2 adults in my family, our last cook in the fryer was 400g chips and there was plenty of room. We were even able to calculate the cooking times by going by the recipe book cooking times and adjusting them to the weight we were cooking. They turned out fine, we were very happy with the versatility of the cooker.
I hope this was helpful.

I find the capacity just right for two of us. Not sure about other models but this one works well. In case I need more like my children visiting I use it twice and since it does most in 15 minutes I have no issues.

Yes, if the timer is still running and the power is on, the airfryer will continue operating when you pull the drawer out. It's like your oven which keeps heating even if you open the door.

Philips

Hi Sal,

Thanks for getting in touch with us. Squid is right; the Airfryer is supposed to stay on as long as the timer is running. This allows you to remove the basket and shake the ingredients, to ensure they cook evenly on all sides.

1 answer
Philips
Philips S.Philips

Hi Brigid, nice to hear that you are interested in our Airfryer. As the maximum quantity of ingredients that can be prepared in the Airfryer depends on the kind of food you want to prepare, it's a bit hard for us to indicate a litre capacity. Generally, the Airfryer has a cooking capacity of 0.8 kg:
- Potatoes or fries: 700-800 grams
- Small snacks: 500 grams
- Cakes, muffins, quiches, or breads: use an oven tray of 16 cm
We hope this helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us on 1300 363 391 if you are in Australia.
