Can I cook a chicken in this air fryer
6 answers
Can I cook a chicken in this air fryer. I would love to see a video of what the fryer can do/make, please.
I’ve done fried (battered) chicken in mine and it turned out well I just suggest adding a teaspoon of oil at least
Thank you, but this is not what I meant. I should have been more specific and said can I do a roast chicken in the air fryer. I saw a video on line for a Philips air fryer but can’t seem to find it again, and I think they did roast chicken.

Hi Philips team, I notice some changes in my 3 years plus AF. Below are the changes:
1) color turns brown at the back of AF where the smoke is out. I did clean the AF but the colour doesn’t not come off.
2) How do you clean the inside coil ( when you flip the AF upside down). it hard to clean inside the coil.
3) Recently, my basket got detached from the base when i shake it. I was frying fries when this happened. It happened twice to us. The basket wasn’t detached and when carried/ hold but it got detached when shaking and no we didn’t press the button when shaking. the hot electrical base drop off and fell on the ground when shaking.
Does this mean that my AF is out of function and required a new one? Or is it that the basket is old and need a replacement? Appreciate your assistance. Thank you.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for contacting us on here about this. We're not quite sure to which extent a certain part has become a bit browner over the years. It might just be in line with wear-and-tear. Regarding the coil, we would like to share the following tips: https://www.philips.com.au/c-f/XC000012903/how-to-clean-the-insideheating-element-of-my-philips-airfryer. That might help cleaning the heating element up a bit. :)
Lastly, the basket. It doesn't sound to us like your Airfryer is ready to retire just yet. But a new basket might be a good idea! We'd recommend contacting us through 1300 363 391 to inquire regarding the options to get a new one.
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
Hi Philips Team,
Thank you for your reply. Will purchase the basket to avoid any dangerous incident and will look up on your tips for cleaning the coil. Thanks again.
Philips S.Philips
Hi Lynn, thanks for getting back to us. We hope that the tips we shared will help you get the coil spic and span. Will you let us know if you have any other questions regarding your Airfryer in the future? We're always happy to see how we can help. Enjoy your week!

I just got one of these recently and I would like to know; Are the two bottom sections of the air fryer safe to put in the dishwasher? (The part with the silver grill and the section below it with the aerodynamic star.)
I've only been cooking chips, chicken nuggets, and fish fingers in it at the moment.
I'm wondering if the air fryer can cook frozen snack sized apple pies?
I have also tried to wash it (the detachable section) in the dishwasher twice but it comes out horrible. Has anyone had success in getting it clean in the dishwasher? Or can offer any tips in doing so?
Also it seems there's a section that's very hard to keep clean; around the edges of the silver grill, it appears that it can be detached from the rest of the air fryer. Can it be detached?

Thanks for the response.
Some of the information you gave came in handy: "If food residues are stuck to the bottom of the pan, fill it with hot water and detergent and leave it to soak for 5 -10 minutes. Soaking will loosen the residues and make them easier to remove"

I have a Phillips 9622 viva collection air fryer the fan quits running with 3minutes left on timer, is that normal?

I think that you may not be setting the timer correctly. It will always warm up for about 3 minutes so, I wonder if that's the issue. Definitely give them a call as they are very helpful with customer service.

No haha I had this struggle upon first purchasing, No need to worry at all. You will need to adjust the timer according to the charts provided on the airfryer specifying what the required cooking time is. The Usual time is approx 15-18 mins so I suggest turning it abit more hehe
Have fun with the airfryer I guess... you wont feel bad cooking without oil

I am using my Airfryer model HD962226 for the first time. I have two questions. If you turn the timer dial too far can you reset it somehow? Or have to run the Airfryer til time elapsed? Also while it’s running if I want to check on how my food is doing can I just open it at any time?
1 answer
Yes, just spin the timer back to where you want it. You can open the drawer anytime to check how the food is going or to move items around in the basket
Peggyasked
How do you turn off the timer on the 9220 model. I have tried to turn the dial Counter clock wise but I feel that I could break the knob.
2 answers
Hi, yes the rotating timer knob does seem very tight and not inclined to be pushed in 'reverse'. However, on my machine, I found it will turn back 'counter-clock-wise' ok - and it has not broken by applying a little more pressure and turning it back. I've only needed to turn it backwards a few times when my food finished cooking a bit earlier than I'd estimated. If that's the same for your you, I'd suggest two options if your food finishes cooking sooner than you expected: 1. The rotating timer is a 'mechanical'-type control - therefore, if you turn your unit off at the wall when you don't want it to continue cooking, the timer will simply time-out by itself back to zero. 2. Simply apply a little more effort to rotate the knob backwards to zero as we've discussed - it will not break it. These mechanical-style timers (as opposed to digital-type timers with a digital readout) have been around a long time and have always needed a little more pressure to turn them in reverse back to zero. Hope this helps.
Philips S.Philips
Hello Peggy,
Thanks for reaching out to ask this question. We can imagine that there are times when you want to turn the timer off yourself, especially if you feel that the food is already prepared. One way to turn the timer off is to turn it back to 0, but this will allow the appliance to turn off manually too. If you need more assistance, please feel free to contact our customer service on this number: 1300 363 391. You can reach out from Mondays to Saturdays between 7:00 am - 7:00 pm EST.

Hi just wondering when we cook food such as chicken kievs or anything crumbed, we find our air fryer starts throwing all the crumbs out the back vent all over the bench why is this????
2 answers
Philips S.Philips
Hi Kel,
Thanks for submitting your question. This might have to do with the fan inside that causes the air to circulate quickly. We can imagine it's not too convenient for this dish though. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia team
I've never had this problem but I imagine if you gently shake the excess crumbs off or press them on as you are coating the food it might help.
