Worth every cent

published

I love eating fried foods but i have never liked deep frying things because of the oil splatters. Now all i need to do is chuck them into the air fryer and it comes out golden and crisp, just like they're deep fried. I usually use it to fry popcorn chicken and fries, even just to reheat buns. It is also easy to clean. i always put some foil on the dish in between the mesh to catch the excess oil to make it easier for cleaning.

Purchased in February 2021.

Disappointingly though, as it approaches its second birthday, we find that the coating on the main basket is shedding. Although this does not appear to affect its functionality, its annoying to have to fish pieces of black lining out of your meal

We can definitely understand that, Alec! Please do contact us on 1300 363 391, or through http://philips.com/support/. We'd certainly like to see what we can do.

Best kitchen appliance every.

published

We have one of the first ones that came out and we are still using it. We even have a spare one for when the other one dies? If you buy takeaway fish and chips put them in and just see the excess oil that you would normally eat it's frightening. Every home should have one. .

It's the best product that we have in our kitchen. We have talked friends to buy one also. We have a son who is a chef and he says that it is so good to cook steaks in. Keep up the good work.

Pretty good

published

I’m pretty satisfied as i use it often and had for over a year. Paid $199 Good guys. I usually put baking paper in the baking dish $34.95 which I purchased over a year ago. I never use oil and magically all the oils (from the food) drips into the paper. Very healthy. It doesn’t take very long to cool either and I usually just leave the setting on the highest 200. I even bake my bread to make toast just to have more counter space. Goodbye toaster.

Excellent....

published

It makes food a lot healthier, it drains the oil from chicken, beef, steak ...you name it. It’s an excellent addition to any kitchen. You can bake any thing in it and do a lot more...and the bonus.....it’s super fast and saves power too. I have had it for over 2 years and have never had a problem with it.

Great alternative and healthier than oil fryers

published

The machine works perfectly. The temperature setttings are extremely useful and the unit is solid and does not leak. There is no clean up required and it is simple to use. The timer on the unit is very loud and easy to use. Once cooked the unit will keep the food inside warm for a long time which is convenient.

I can't live without it

published

I have had this product for nearly a year now and I love it! The air fryer cuts cooking time in half or even less depending on what you are cooking I love roasting, air frying and cooking bacon in this as it makes everything so tasty and crispy. Cleaning is a breeze I soak it over night in hot soapy water and wash the next day.

Cannot live without our airfryer

published

We use our airfryer for quite a lot of occasion. chips, fish, pies. half the amount the time needed in an oven.
Wished we got a bigger one, easy to clean, we just put it in the dishwasher.
We also put it outside the deck as the it does emit quite a lot of 'oily smell' if it is used indoors.

More than happy with my Philips Viva Collection Airfryer. Really easy to use and makes cooking a lot more easier. The kids love the hot chips it makes. We don't use it all the time, but when we do I love using it. Well worth investing in one of these.

Easy. Easy. Easy. No more grease on food. Easy to clean. (Using dishwasher). Cooks everything from chip, chicken, burgers, meatballs. I've even allowed my son to cook and eat chips now! Had it for 5 years now and still going and without problem.
Downside: Limited to 2-3 person meal but just get the bigger one.

Viva Collection Air Fryer HD9220/50

After using a friends XL model I wanted one. On visiting my in laws they had upgraded to the XL and gave us their old one, 9220/50 model.
I have noticed it can't cook chips the same as the XL.
I have been cooking them at 200 for 16mins, giving them a shake in between however every time they just all stick together.
Does the machine just stop working as effectively after a while? Has anyone else noticed this?
I still want the XL and so far the husband is not convinced the machine is a winner.
Can someone please shed some light on why my chips won't cook properly?

I'd just cook them a little longer. Could be the water content in the potatoes, or who knows what else? I do mine about twenty minutes. Open the drawer and shake a couple of times more as well. That let's out some of the moisture content that's built up within the drawer and basket that prevents things from browning as well.

Squid

That's really strange - I've never had anything stick together in my airfryer except homemade unsoaked potato crisps when I've just dumped all the slices in and haven't shake the basket enough times. Are these homemade chips or frozen chips? If they are homemade chips, 200 deg C is too high. The Philips Airfryer cookbook recommends soaking the cut chips in water for 30 minutes, then draining, drying, coating in a little oil, and cooking at 180 deg C.
If it's frozen chips, then 200 deg C sounds okay. Are you cooking them from frozen and giving the basket a shake a couple of times during cooking?

I just cut up and dry the Potatoes & Pumpkin with a towel, place them in a wide shallow dish and add a little Olive Oil not much, as it seems to cover over the potatoes easily using my hands, I use Roast Vegetable Sprinkle, then put them is the Air fryer then cook for about 15 minutes, or more turning them over at half time using 2 desert spoons ..I just clean out the base later with a paper towel. & brush clean the strainer. Left overs wrapped in Puff pastry is so quick to cook . A Tomato cut in half, heated in the microwave for less than a minute goes well with the chips .

Viva Collection Air Fryer HD9220/50

Hi, I posted this question last week but have not yet got a final reply. Could you please advise if the Grill Pan Accessory for Viva Collection Airfryer, part number 882991020010 will fit the HD9220/ 50 model. It says on your website it is specifically compatible with the HD9220/ 20 (black) model, but does not mention other HD9220 models. As it does not appear to be available anywhere in store, I would need to order it directly from Phillips and have it posted out, and would therefore like to know if it fits before ordering. It seems likely that it would, if the digits after the slash refer only to colour, but would like confirmation before ordering ( i.e. get someone at Phillips to try it in a HD9220/ 50 model (white) for me and confirm it fits!). Oherwise I will have to pay 2 lots of postage if I order it, it doesn't fit and has to be returned.

Hi Cate, thanks for your question and sorry for our late response. We wanted to double check and provide your with the correct information. The grill pan will fit your Air Fryer but please know that the handle is black.
