I ordered premium number plates (Black) when purchasing my car and received standard plates instead. I was told it would cost $175.00 and I agreed. How do I get the plates I ordered and paid for?

We got a quote on a vehicle. The dealer pressured me to take it as (he said)it was a good deal. I told him clearly(at least twice) that I had to consult with my partner before I could give him an answer. The following afternoon, before I was able to get back to him, an email came through from Private Fleet Office that a vehicle had been ordered in my name; I rang the person I had been talking to and he claimed that as I had not got back to him (it would have been about 24 hours) he assumed that I approved the deal and went ahead and ordered the vehicle! I immediately rang the dealership that the car was ordered from, told them the story and they put the order on hold. I requested the person to whom I had been talking to cancel the order and refund my deposit as we never confirmed that we'd agreed to it -verbally or any other way-but he was pretty insistent that I had approved the order. I reported this to to his manager - he asked a few relevant questions and assured me he would look into it but so far have not had any reply from him- That was a few days ago. As we did not authorise any order we believe it should be cancelled our money refunded.
This needs to be sorted out before we can move on. Where do we go from here ?

Hi Its very strange as private fleet have excellent communications, I see you paid a deposit so that would indicate that you had agreed in principle for the vehicle, In my case deposit was not paid till such times I(we) had made a decision and then only binding ( i thought) when you sign the contract that may have included trade ins. I would speak again to private fleet as the person(s) I dealt with were good

No private fleet are corrupt people, they don’t give complete information at time of booking orders. In my case agent from private fleet took money without my permission, at time of booking he only negotiated price & asked me to give credit card details. After he took the deposit, I asked him about delivery date he said will come next day after checking with dealer. Next day private fleet agent came with one month delivery date in July and asked him to cancel order. Despite of saying no, Just he had my credit card details he deliberately put my order. They are cheaters.
I asked several times to speak with manager but no response. ... in the meantime I had reported the case to ACCC.
in your case Linda keep pushing to speak with manager & ask for company director’s details to bring the issues to board members attention. In the meantime you can report complaint to ACCC

My process was that I only paid a deposit when I was happy with the price of the vehicle I was after. I would recheck again with the Private Fleet supervisor to get it sorted out and your refund organised if you're not proceeding.

Thinking about using Private Fleet to purchase a hyundai kona but nervous about doing it over the phone. Are they worth it? Did you have any problems with warranty later?

Once you have decided on the model (and colour) and have an idea of the price, it's well worth the phone call. You don't have to accept the offer.

Just got our car this week, delivered to the door with a full tank of petrol. Don't know for sure about the warranty, but the info from the dealer who supplied the car (and to whom you send your money) indicated that any authorised dealer for your car can do the servicing and keep the warranty going. Ring and chat to the Private Fleet people about this. Good luck.

KJ, While initial contact is made by phone everything backed up with documentation both created by you and for confirmation by Private Fleet. I you have a trade you are required to provide a significant amount of information backed up with photographs and copies of supporting documents. Once you verbally agree to any offer provided, you will be receive a detailed quote which you sign and return to them. Once your vendor is assigned you will receive a contract for sale form to sign. Nothing is progressed without authorised documentation. The easy part is the phone call initiation of the process and follow up communications until a deal is done or you exit the process.

Hope this helps. I will never buy a car in the future without going to Private Fleet first.

Buying over the phone is it legally binding? I have not signed anything

I was a bit surprised too to not sign anything: I did send a deposit of $1500 on the day to secure the vehicle so I guess that counts as legally entering into the agreement.

I think it counts as legally, however I had paid deposit, however dealer wanted me to pay the full amount and I paid and dealer communicated with the Private Fleet and I got my deposit returned.

I think in a situation, where you have changed your requirement, best way to communicate transparently explaining your situation and hopefully it will work out for you.

How does private fleet get paid? Is it a percentage of the sales price or a fee that i would pay as a customer? If it is a fee how much is it?

they get paid by getting a quoted price from a dealership they have a 'dealer agreement' with, then putting on their own margin according to the clients 'buying temperature'

You would notice that they start the first phone call at a very high price and as each phone call progresses, the price becomes cheaper. The moment you show a positive reaction to a discounted price the broker will pick up on this and will try and close the sale with you. The profit for Private Fleet is the price that YOU are happy to pay minus the dealers quote. Here is an example:

RRP of car is 50K

You are 'happy' at 45K

Dealer Quote is 42K

Private Fleet's profit is 3K.

I have seen in some cases brokers making in excess of $10,000 from one client. Recommend you stay away

A flat fee of around $200 is all you need to pay. It will save you shopping around from dealer to dealer. The profit on the vehicle varies from make and model.

If Private Fleet find a deal with a dealer who happens to be very far from where I live, is there any impact on servicing/warranties (more specifcially extended warranties)? I'm concerned I may be obliged to service the vehicle at the dealership offering the deal and not a local dealer more convenient to my circumstances.

My new car did not come from the area where I lived and the dealer told me I can get my car serviced at the nearest dealer to me

No. You won't have to service the vehicle where it was purchased. I purchased in Sutherland and service at Artarmon. They will deliver the car to you by truck if it is a long distance. That's the only difference. It's quite safe to proceed! Dara

This is something to consider. I am not sure about purchasing through Private Fleet but I bought my Golf GTI through a dealer Sydney 5 years ago and have since moved to the Central Coast and work at Newcastle. I had something go wrong which was pretty expensive and was told If I wanted the repairs to be performed under that extended warranty, I would need to continue to head to Sydney (a choice of about 4 different service centres) for scheduled services or I would void that warranty. The manager said the extended warranty was a "free" service anyhow. Yeah, right...

I am pretty sure i had signed my order, which i had checked before returning and supplying my credit card details. I dealt with Andrew Zell, who i could not have been happier with. I am assuming your order does not state GT and that is why you are unhappy? From my dealings with them I would just call them and talk to them to sort out. They were very helpful with all my queries.

Hi Greg,
Thanks for the question. The RRP from Mitsubishi on this is $52,790 which, plus onroad and metallic paint comes in around $56,500 on the road. Like you, we have seen advertised specials at $55K drive away. However, considering this model has only just been released, I'd suggest under $50K would be ambitious. However you never know til you try. Cost and obligation free and backed by our price match guarantee once you order. Cheers David

I paid $1000 deposit to buy a 2016 Toyota Aurion sportivo. The next day the sale rep said the car was sold to another buyer and she recommended another car with different color and $1500 more expensive. I refused to buy the replacement car and ask the sale rep repay me the $1000 deposit. The sale rep said it is hard to pay me back the deposit. I send many reminding emails but no response. Can anyone advice if I have the right to get back the deposit? and if yes what should I do to get the deposit back?
Thanks,

Can any previous users give a rough idea on what type of discount they received from retail? I'm looking at a New Subaru worth about $53k retail on road. The rep can't provide even a rough idea and I don't want to waste my time going through the process without some indication of achievable discount.

If you read my review I have my doubts about the way Private Fleet do things, they ask you what was your best price, what you think you should be getting and then just better your best price by a couple of hundred dollars and SHARE the fleet discount with the suppliers. My view is that fleet discount should be approaching 10% off the retail price (excluding on roads, so in your example it should be about $4000). Best way is to ask the dealer with the best offer what price if your company provides a Fleet Buyers Letter and see what they say

Albro
Albro

Getting away from jovan's repeated negative reply you received. As I understand, Private Fleet don't have a standard discount, they have the ability to reach a large number of dealers, thru out Australia and attempt to structure the best deal on your behalf. Every deal is individual and different. My personal dealings were amazing. I had been barraged by dealers, to the point of up to 5 phone-calls a day. The vehicle I wanted, a Hyundai Tuscon Highlander was selling at $46000. I rang Private Fleet and explained I wanted this (Blue, Diesel) vehicle and only had $39000 to spend. 2 hours later they rang and had 2 cars to view in Brisbane. OK, so they were 2015 build and we were now in 2016. I test drove the Blue one which was still wrapped in plastic and only had 17 kilometers on the clock. They then arrange a trade-in for my old Rodeo, which allowed me to fully option the car. My deal was easy, smooth, hassle-free and efficient. And Private Fleet saved me about $6000 ! which is approx 12%.
The service I received was professional, pleasant and courteous.
Unfortunately for the society we have this type of forum can bring out the whingers.
In reading many of these negative revues on many products, I am amazed how many clods there are out there.
1 person who couldn't erect an item of camping equipment, rambled on to say it needed 10 people and a lot of other such. Ignoring his whinging I purchased the same item, which my wife assembles and packs down in 10 minutes, easy as. Mr 10 men should read the waterproof, fabric instructions attached to the carry bag supplied.
AND, a woman who wrote a huge negative ramble about the brand new vehicle her Employer had supplied. It had no satnav, no reversing camera, no electric mirrors, a huge raft of other extras not on this (Employer supplied) car, but she did admit, it was the base line model !! ( GO FIGURE ) She also complained about the seats not reclining fully, and then added maybe this was because of the large sheep skin covers she had fitted. do you think ? Why the hell was this garbage published as a negative against the product when it is entirely another incompetent whinger.
Also Bassett, who was not a customer but another s... stirrer with a personal agenda. Well done to David from PF, who addressed every one of the issues raised.
PRODUCE REVIEW, you should really vet these sometimes very damaging negatives, when some of them are entirely the users fault. This could be a great forum, should be monitored better.

Hi nightflyer00,

Thanks for the question. it's very hard to provide even a rough estimate without going through the process - we could but with the complexities of vehicle pricing, dealer inventory, manufacturer bonuses etc applying to all of the 400 different makes and models of new cars, it's risky! We could easily be 4-figures out on either side!

However, if (and only if), you are a genuine buyer and know what you want we're happy to go through the process for you. It will cost you about an hour of your time all up (usually spread over several calls over a 24 hr period) and about 3-4 hours at our end working with you and chasing up dealers and availability.

There's no obligation for you to go ahead. 9 times out of 10 we'll save you some money and if so, we'd love to order a car for you. If not, then no hard feelings.

Hope this helps

David

FWIW our average discount across ALL cars is around 15%.
