I have a claim with ehiglobal as someone in an enterprise rental car ran into my car. The claims department are refusing to pay for the rental car that I used while my own car was being repaired, despite previously stated in writing that they would pay this. I have found their business practices to be unethical and deceptive. When are you going to pay my car rental costs as agreed? You have tried to set me up to be responsible for over $3000. Shame on you.

I am planning to rent child seats for all my 3 kids(child and booster seats) at the Brisbane airport. Can I check if the child seats are well kept and what are the cleaning procedures before rental of child seats to customers at that location?

At the same time, can redspot fit 3 child seats into a kia carnival?

Grace K.
Grace K.

I did not have experience at Brisbane airport, but did not have a good experience at Perth airport with my child seat rental. When we picked up our car hire, we were told to "pick whichever that suits us" despite having pre-booked a reverse-facing baby seat, and the seats (child and booster seats) were just in a corner of the kiosk on the floor. It did not look like they have been sanitized, and the only child seat available to us had a velvety surface with lots of white fluff on it. I have booked from Europcar at Brisbane airport in July, and the seat came with a sticker that said it was steam sanitized, if my memory serves me correctly, and though of the similar velvety surface, there was no white fluff on it.

RedSpot Car Rentals
Allison M.RedSpot Car Rentals

Dear Gilbert

Thank you for your enquiry regarding our child seats.

All vehicles come with 2 anchor points attached however, with pre warning the location can fit an additional anchor if required. All locations carry extra anchor's should they be required. I'd suggest calling ahead to the location to advise how you would like to seats positioned to suit. The locations contact number can be found in this link: https://www.redspot.com.au/Locations.html.

I can confirm cleaning of each seat is carried out by the location after each rental and inspected again prior to being fitted into the next rental vehicle.

I do hope this information is of benefit. Should you require any further assistance please don't hesitate to advise.

Hi Andrew

If the seat if pre-booked we can have a trained staff member install the seat for you. However, if you could contact the location prior to your collection to advise them of the age of the baby/child and the required position of the seat, the location can ensure it is installed to your liking.

Please see link of locations with contact details for your perusal: https://www.redspot.com.au/Locations.html

Hi Andrew,

Contrary to what the official from RedSpot Car Rentals replied you, my pre-booked child seat was NOT installed by them. In fact, we had booked a reverse-facing seat for my 8 month old baby girl, and brought our own Britax convertible seat for our 27 month old toddler. What we found when we picked up the car was not only the reverse-facing seat was not installed on our behalf (the staff claimed that they do not usually install, as they would not know which car we would be taking... I do not understand her logic, as mine was a pre-booked car rental with the baby seat, not like I was walking in to rent on the spot!), but to make things worse, the staff informed us to "just take whichever seat that suits you". What was available was one unharnessed booster and one other seat, which when I asked her if it was reverse-facing, she told me that there was nothing mentioned about a reverse-facing seat on my booking, and that it just says baby seat. However, I clearly booked a reverse-facing seat during my booking on the website. So I suggest you get RedSpot to promise in writing to have it pre-installed for you upon pick up, if you do not come from Australia and is unsure about installing it as per Australian regulations.

Dear Trappa

Thank you for considering renting from Redspot Enterprise Sunshine Coast Airport. We'd love to see you enjoy your rental experience with us and believe information is key to understanding your rental needs and the products and services we can offer.

Our website, www.redspot.com.au, has all the information you need but I understand navigating your way around websites can feel like a journey all on its own.

In short I would strongly suggest you check out and consider our Top Dog Package option. This offers the most peace of mind whilst renting. The Top Dog Package comes with a $0 damage liability cover, so should the vehicle be damaged, regardless of fault, in anyway whilst in your care, you will not be charged at all. It also includes unlimited kilometres, Additional Driver's, all Toll Road usage. Here's the link to see it for yourself: https://www.redspot.com.au/Top-Dog-All-Inclusive-Car-Hire.html.

Dear Mah

For all rentals, we do pre-authorise $200 as a security bond on to your credit card at the time of collection.

if not used at the end of the rental period for such items as extensions or fuel. the release of the funds is automatically completed by your financial institution. Typically we find the release takes up to 28 days,m but usually within 14 days of the transaction taking place.

There is a $5000 automatic withdrawal from your card in the event the vehicle is returned with any damage. Once it is determined who is at fault or how much the damage costs to repair you are refunded the difference (or all of it if you were found to be not at fault). I think there is insurance you can take out for a daily fee to reduce that possible cost. Note that it is only charged if the vehicle is damaged on return, we did not have that issue.

Hi Redspot, I booked through your website to rent a car for a week.

I got quoted AUD66 to rent a forward facing child seat. I thought this was for the whole 7 days.

When you send me a confirmation email, it is mentioned as AUD 66/per day!!! That is quite steep just for a child seat. After 7 days I may as well buy a new one.

Can you please help me clarify if it is AUD 66 for the whole trip or per day.

thank you

RedSpot Car Rentals
Allison M.RedSpot Car Rentals

Dear Bradley

Thank you for your enquiry.

The pre-authorisation security bond remains the same whether you book with Redspot or Enterprise. Security Bond is $200. I've copied the Terms and Conditions on this below for your perusal. Hope this helps.

Security Bonds:

Bonds: All rentals are subject to a credit card pre-authorisation (credit card bond) or a cash bond. Credit Card Bonds: If You provide a credit card bond Redspot will authorise it at the start of rental for an amount up to $200. A credit card authorisation holds or secures an amount on Your credit card, allowing Redspot access to the funds in the event additional amounts need to be charged, such as damage liability, rental extension or fuel charges. A credit card authorisation is not a charge but it will limit the funds available on Your credit card. If no charges are processed by Redspot Your bank will release the hold on Your funds after a period of up to 28 days.

Business Club/National Rent a Car: As part of your privileges and inclusions of being a business club/National member, we do not require for you to put down a security bond.

Thank you for your question.

We continuously purchase and dispose of our fleet as and when required. This does mean that the makes and models we offer do vary for each location and may change at any time in the future.

* Hyundai Sonata
* Toyota Camry

In our FDAR range we currently offer:

*Ford Falcon
*Holden Evoke

Thank you for your question.

In short, you will pay the full cost of your rental and we will pre-authorise a $200 security deposit on your credit card at the time of collection.

We do accept debit card for payment. If you are wishing to use your debit card for the pre-authorisation, this will need to be wither a Debit Mastercard or Visa Card.

You will have options that you can choose such as pre-paid fuel and premium road side assistance offered to you at the counter. These are options and you can choose to wither accept or decline these options.

TopDog is a great package that provides a zero damage liability for drivers over the age of 25.
