Nice beautiful car
Koleos is very reliable and hasn't given my trouble yet .. The seating position is what I like most about it.It supports me perfectly and long drives are hassle free. I want to explicitly mention about the noise levels in the car. There is a certain website that is hell bend of scribbling about Koleos noise levels. This is not true. This car is not meant to be handled rash. If you floor the accelerator, the noise levels are indeed high and annoying but if you are a sedate driver with your kids in the back seat, its perfect ..the cabin noise is a...Read more
lmost zero most of the time on the highways and the car is extremely happy around 2000 rpm. Another thing I like is the turning radius, its like driving a small car. My car is just past the 60K service, the stock tyres are still running good but will change them soon as normal tyre life is around 40K and rear thread is touching 2 mark. I had to change the brake pads, battery n wipers and cost me around 1 grand. My car doesn't have the bose sound system and instead has a dutch system .Display isnt great and it restarts once a while when on BT .Audio quality is good.Similar opinion? I don't understand....
A car built in Korea, with Japanese parts from Nissan... is held over for a 6 weeks repair waiting for parts from FRANCE!!! Perhaps you might like some swamp land I have for sale in Queensland.
I had previously owned a Toyota Corolla which I had problems with. The dealer I bought the car from was useless. Changed dealers... Toyota was brilliant again. I have a 09 Koleos 4X4 diesel with 185,000km. Reliable as a Nissan, better built than a euro Renault, great on Diesel (~8l/100km). The only difference between the two is the Renault engine pa...Read more

Never buy european again!
I would not reccomend the koleos or Renault to anyone. We purchased ours several years ago for $45,000, all fhe bells and whistles. We have had one thing or another go wrong including an unfixable aircon and now shopping for another car because the renault is our bottomless pitt we have only gotten $4000 for a trade in. And we are buying new again! We tried a few car yards and basically they all told us that noone wants the renaults. They dont even bother keeing them to sell through their used cars, they just move them to a wholesaler. We were ...Read more
so gutted by this. Noone wants the renaults because they cost so much to service and fix. We pretty much pay $1000 for a service and any work that needs doing is crazy. This car is our second car that I drive around locally, it had great mileage and treated with respect and the things that have gone wrong were gear box (when it was delivered it already had to be sent back 3 times to fix, took renault 1 year to fix the gearbox), the aircon has been fixed 3 times and something else in the car is cause it to go and no mechanic can find the prob. Tital aircon cost now $4500, the driver sunvisor just fell off, terrible bubbles in tint windows after 2 years, CD player probs. we didnt expect all this from the top of the range koleos with all leather etc. i do feel terrible to run down a company as I have never done this before but unless u literally have money to burn then stay away from european cars and they have no resale value at all. The best thing I can say about the koleos is that it drives and handles real nice which is important but i expect more for the $45000 price tag. My husband bought a second hand toyota for $12000 about the sametime and its barely had anything wrong with itSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Such an underrated vehicle
Such a comfortable car, easy to drive, quiet on the road, hasn't missed a beat in 3 years and is very economical. servicing costs very reasonable plus 5 years warranty and roadside assistance.
Did a recent trip to the Goldcoast with the family and the Koleos performed flawlessly.
Didn't use a drop of oil and the seats are very comfortable. Average 7.9 litres per 100km over the 4000km holiday.
Great car and worth a look

The perfect "mum" car!
Apart from being an awesome, easy drive with smooth handling and quiet operation, this car is packed with features you didn't even know you needed!
My favourites are the baby mirror at the front, the built in window screens and tray tables and the split rear door. An absolute pleasure to drive!

Good solid off roader.
Purchased my 2011 2.0Dci with 50000km on the odo. It has now got 179000km under its belt.
I've taken it to Mozambique once through sand and mud and up San Pass three times. It handled very well and did what it promised.
I am 6foot 4 inch and have plenty of legroom. The vehicle is an absolute pleasure to drive and I love it's creature comforts and gadgets. It has more than enough power even above 3000m sea level!
My only gripe is the boot space is too small and the seats could have been better designed.
It's been very reliable with the biggest issue been a faulty AC pipe. I drive the vehicle hard and use it as a utility vehicle at times and the rear folding tail Gate has been a big help.

Koleos Bose premium 2015 vs Koleos Privilege 2014
Just writing this to let everyone know that there are very distinct differences between the 2015 Bose Premium, and the 2014 Privilege. We were told by several dealers that the Bose Premium is the "newer model" of the Privilege, which is incorrect. The 2015 Bose Premium has several features REMOVED when compared to the 2014 Koleos Privilege, and these are just a few that I've found:
- Passenger seat is no longer motorised
- Rear passenger seats no longer recline
- Rear passenger seats still fold flat, but no longer with a "one touch" lever - it's now a cumbersome routine involving pulling levers and strings in a certain order
- Woodgrain has been replaced by fake carbon fiber

3 Years - 100000k Review
Okay, so I'm about to trade in the Koleos Bose Diesel 4x4 after 100,000k in 3 years (leased). So what have I replaced in 3 years of big kilometres? A set of tyres, 2 lots of wiper blades, filters and one set of front brakes (at 90,000k). Just toll into Renault every 15,000k, pay $300, get it serviced, get a loan car, and that's it. Tyres at around 50,000k.
I put leather moisturiser on the leather seats so they look like they did the day we got the car (why people don't do this I never know). I think I have only one paint chip (in 10...Read more
0,000k of driving, that's amazing). The bose scuff plates on the doors are a little scuffed. Someone is going to get an extremely good condition second hand car. My hats off to Nissan for building the bulletproof xtrail drive train which underpins this car. The build is done by Samsung Auto in korea. Everything fits nothing sqeaks. Hats off to Renault for European design with practicality rolled in (heaps of storage, lie flat seats in the back). The only let down is that Renault is dragging the chain on releasing the Koleos replacement. If the new one arrives before the lease is up - I'll order it.Similar opinion? Stylish, Smooth Driving, Safe though a bit slow to gas up. - Koleos 2,5 Petrol
It's an amazingly stylish car from the outside and from within it is very complete for what you pay for.
They driving in Colombian highways (very sharp curves and more curves) it's by far one of the best SUV I have ever driven. Though a small engine. Totally worth it!

Our dearly departed Koleos
We bought the Koleos from a close friend who had to leave the country asap. My friend decided to pass it on to me as I was her passenger a few times and couldn't stop gushing about how pretty and chic the car was. We had the 1st version of 2008 and drove it until last month, when our car got CRASHED into the 3rd time. It was very painful, as this time around, the damaged was too expensive to repair and our insurance decided to write it off.

excellent offroad capability for a suv
My partner and i recently stayed at cradle mountain tasmania where the snow fall was very heavy roads were closed certain days and snow ploughs didnt bother scraping roads as snow fall quickly recovered the bitumen again. How ever we spent a week there as planned and we hired a renault koleos 4x4 from budget which has what i assume a centre locker which locks both front and rear axles. I was sceptical about using a suv style vehicle in snow but wanted to try it to compare to my uncomfortable but capable 4x4 mitsubishi triton. To my suprise the ...Read more
4 wheel drive system on the koleos worked an absolute treat with the push of the lock button on centre console. I purposely drove the car strait into snow that reached up to the axles and this car ploughed thru no problems at all. The 4x4 mode automatically disengages at 40kmh and reverts back to a on demand 4x4 type setup like the rav4. Or you can turn that off too and just run it as a front wheel drive. I didnt use chains in snow either and had standard tyres. On the road i found the petrol motor quite lively and it drove well no probs. Has good ground clearance and not too much over hang front and rear bumpers for steep entry and departure of hills. If looking for a suv with excellent 4x4 capability as opposed to real hardcore 4x4 units id recommend this vehicle.model wise i cant remember what it was but was well specced had all mod cons plenty of room very practical vehicle.Similar opinion? 2013 Diesel 2.0T Bose 2wd
Background: Bought this used car from dealer. Owing this car for about 4 month.
Reason why got this car:
When I was looking into the SUV market, there are some other brands with mid range models that I was interested: VW Tiguan, Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester. But they gives me impression that they are overrated and overpriced with less features on the car.
1. Tiguan has the DSG transmission problem.
2. Mazda CX-5 is overpriced. I guess that is because the numbers of reward that they have got gives them enough confidence to not drop ...Read more

A good SUV is a dependable no fuss SUV
75,000k and 2.5 years later (yep), and the Keleos is fine. We take ours to the snow a lot and have only one car - so ours is a bit of an accelerated test case. Straight to the point. Diesel does gel up in cold temperatures (use additive) - and when you hit wombats with the right side of the bumper car, it will crack the washer bottle.
It's dog proof, ski proof, kid proof, has nice little tables in the back of the seats, sun blinds and the controls back-the-front like you would expect a french car to be. Open the bonnet and take the pl...Read more
astic covers off things and everything is Nissan (the guts of the car is a Nissan x-trail). The car gets assembled in Korea where they screw things together ok (by Sumsung). The servicing has been good (tho I had to remind their friendly mechanics that the diesel is a 6 speed auto, not a cvt). On the road it is a comfortable ride (no sports car). The 4wd, esp and abs all work just fine (and everything flashes like a christmas tree if you hit ice or brake hard on dirt), Hill descent control, decent clearance, acceptable gear box ratios and full sized spare make it viable for light off-road and dirt tracks. Enough boot space (smaller than an xtrail), nav unit, leather seats, climate control (with vents in the back), bluetooth, more 12v sockets than you can poke a stick at, auto lights and wipers and probably the best stereo I have had in a car. I'm actually hoping that by the time the lease is up, the new one is out - I'll just roll back in to the same dealer and say "next one please"!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Japanese quality, French flair!
I bought a used Privilege 4X4 around15 months ago, which was about a year old at the time with 20,000km on the clock. Its certainly a great buy second hand, but I wouldn't buy new because of the steep depreciation. Great car, heaps of room in the back, all sorts of clever things in the cabin, lots of storage spots, and the fancy stuff that goes with the top of the range model. Love the split tailgate. Problem free thus far, capped servicing costs and only annual services is great, plus it comes with a 5 year warranty (4 years for me because it...Read more
was used) is generous compared to the other Euros. Drives fine around town, its no sports car obviously, and the CVT can take a while to wind up when taking off so its not the fastest car at the lights. Comes into its own out on the open road, very quiet and the CVT keeps the revs low, its a very relaxing car to drive. Although it is sluggish on those (rare) really steep hills even using the manual option. My only gripe with car is the fiddly audio. All up though I am very happy with it, and I'm just surprised there aren't more on the road. So - an update after 5 years of ownership and another 40,000 kms. Car works fine with a few little issues that I guess happens over time. Rear tailgate mechanism failed - it just wouldn't shut properly - but this was fixed under warranty (with one month to go!). Sun visor on drivers side has gone all floppy so will need to be replaced sometime. And the battery was just replaced. That's all that has gone wrong so I think that is pretty good.Purchased in April 2021 for A$32,000.00.

Follow up 2 years later: no revision to my original post, had absolutely no adverse issues with the car. Just replaced the tyres at 45000 km, otherwise just the annual service.

Good, Could Be Better
HI,
I upgraded from a Honda Accord 2010 12 months ago, to a new Bose 2X4, due to chronic back problems and the difficulty of alighting from a lowish vehicle, I am 189cm tall. There is ample room whilst driving, but there is less rear leg room than the Accord, and perhaps a little less luggage room, however the rear seats are able to be laid flat and the is almost enough room for me to lie down when the front seat is in the most forward position.
Fuel use is about the same as the Accord at around 9L / 100klm, which is mostly ~10klm drives ...Read more
there and back, plus one trip to Melbourne and return every 3-4 weeks, and on these trips the fuel use is ~5-6L / 100klm. The Koleos is very easy to drive, has a good amount of visibility and is quite comfortable. The only problem I have had is with the R-Link which controls the Radio, CD player, SatNav, USB Input and Blutooth. From about the end of the 3rd month of ownership I had problems, it would either not work at all, or one of the parts, be it radio, Blutooth, CD player would be the only thing that worked, I had the car in 4-5 times for attempted repair, which would last for anything from a few days to a few months. On one trip of 400+klm for most of the journey it was trying to upload the 'right map', and so nothing else would work in that system. This was a week post servicing and the 'fault' was supposed to have been fixed.1 comment

After the replacement of the 'R-Link' I have had no further problems for 15 months, remains a very good vehicle, and since having it I have only done ~15000 klm, again mostly 15-20 klm trips wit... Read more

This car has amazing carrying space
I agree with the other reviewers about how great this car is. I have the petrol model 2010 Renault Koleos H45 Privilege 4X4 with leather seats and bose speakers etc. What I especially love is how my Kayak (the Tequila that splits in two parts) fits easily into the back. I pull the two levers, situated at the rear window, and both back seats fold down - voila. When I moved to my new house the most amazing amount of newly purchased furniture fitted in and saved me the delivery hassle.

This car has ALL the bells and whistles! No other SUV near the price had anywhere near the gadgets and modern technology and safety features that the Koleos has.
I have the Priviledge 4x4 with the beautiful cream leather interior and brown dash. The panoramic sunroof is amazing and also opens, with mesh covers to pull over if it is really bright and I leave it open with the cover pulled so my seats aren't hot when I've finished work. I Love It
I haven't enjoyed a car like this since I was 18 with a mini gts. It is simply great. Lots of space . plenty of gadgets and sensational sound system. The engine is quiet but nifty . Absolutely recommend. The smoothest ride and tall enough to see well ( I am short) . The boot has enough space to fit anything.

Very roomy inside, driving position feels almost like driving a bus with so much room around. Car has plenty of power, CVT is mooth, engine does not rev at all when driven normally. Suspension is firm but not hard. Rear door is split with very practical lay down tailgate. o remain that way for at least another 10 years like my previous car Toyota did. There are some things I don't like about the Koleos. While it is all modern on the inside with gadgets like Blutooth, USB etc, the under undercarriage feel like something out of 70's. It is very noisy over rough surface, I can hear the brake pads running on the disks when breaking. I've never had a car where the undercarriage was so intrusive. The budget Kumho tires don't help the situation either. Also the engine isn't perfectly smooth. When standing with the transmission engaged there is usually a vibration letting me know the engine is running. On a cold day the engine sounds noisy like a diesel before it warms up fully which can take 20 minutes. On the inside I find the heater/aircon annoying. Turn it on and one has to always fiddle with it to get the right setting and the fan control is very slow to respond. Wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have to fiddle with it while driving. Steering is something to get used to, it is rather vague so one needs to pay extra attention to stay straight on the road.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

An Excellent City/on-road SUV
I have a 2013 build Bose Phase 3 2WD petrol for two months now. I love it. The family loves it. It feels larger than it is. One sits high with a good view. It rides pleasantly soft. It is comfortable. Economy is a bit short because it has a larger engine and is a bit heavier than most of its competitors. That translates into a subtly better ride. .The only negative is the R-link TomTom integrated Satnav support. It reads like magic but Renault is months behind promises to get R-link support functional. The satnav unit works OK and TomTom r...Read more
outing leaves Garmin in the dust, but it is not properly supported with internet updates and subscriptions yet. (Renault changed the product and support program for the integrated TomTom last year.) To be fair the integrated Garmin systems have their own problems such as incompetent routing. Fit and finish are high quality. The interior design includes a joy stick console for many functions, but also more traditional switches as well as a touch sensitive integrated TomTom that includes radio/media functions. The auto A/C works unobtrusively and has dual zones. The Bose trim includes blind side warning that works well, and we have the backup camera that has quickly become all but a necessity. The keyless locking system and push button start is very well done but takes some getting used to. It is much more advanced than the 2012 Phase 2 implementation. The dealer has been very good in my short history with them - limited to the sale and a 1-month checkup where they did a campaign update and updated the TomTom firmware. Their service department is more like an independent garage than a dealer, having personable and personal service staff who are enthusiastic and aim to satisfy. I'll hold my breath for parts problems and other issues that have been reported, but in the early days it is a fine experience. If you are in the market for an on-road SUV, the Koleos is Renault design, Nissan X-trail underpinnings, engineered in Japan, and built in Korea. The only give-away to the Korean build is Korean leather. Everything else is properly Euro, even to the left side turn signal stalk. It also has a 5 year warranty and 1-year/15K service intervals with 3-year capped prices. Bose sound, comfort, ride, features, dealer, non-Japanese styling, Nissan underpinnings Limited rear seat legroom, Renault R-Link TomTom support remains a work-in-progress1 comment
The Renault R-Link store seems to be live, finally.

Hi Guys, Please help with some advice, I have a 2011 Koleos 2,5l cvt and have had it for 8 years now with no issues, I have not driven it for a week now due to the covid-19 lockdown restrictions. This morning i tried starting the car but the car wouldnt start and shows a "check automatic gearbox" message. what could be the problem and how do i resolve it? The car has given no issues until this morning.

Its common or all new cars to throw a real whammy when the battery is down on power or needs replacing. My sons Cleo had messages for gearbox and ecm and a new battery fixed the faults.
