Was talked into Rheem after having my Dux for 16 years with no problems.Within one month already pilot light had to be relit and this morning woke up to explosion sound with insulation and lid blown all over the place. Terrrifying experience.Customer care by name ...they were drones..unhelpful despite gas and fire and explosion situation

Bad warranty period
We bought and installed a Rheem gas domestic outdoor water heater with ten years warranty in 11/11/2014. The pilot light has started to keep going out since July 2016. Firstly it happened once every month, then frequently once everyday. It is frustrating you have to relight it every day.

our product is faulty as so many customers have same problem. Rheem should provide standard services under warranty. According to Statutory Warranty, "Statutory rights are not limited to a set time period. Instead, they apply for the amount of time that is reasonable to expect, given the cost and quality of the item. This means a consumer may be entitled to a remedy under their statutory rights after any manufacturer's voluntary or extended warranty has expired." After I mentioned this to you, you just ignore my email. You just pretend you are going to help, but no help at all. My two kids got cold all because of your bad quality product. I'm going to Lodge a complaint to fair trading to fix issue.

Very disappointed in quality and service
Rheem hot water system is 2 years old and the igniter button is already faulty. Rheem informed me that parts only have a 12 months guarantee and there is a $140 call out fee for the first 30 minutes. Bitterly disappointed in customer service. How does the 5 year guarantee come into this? Having now researched, this is a common problem among these models (which also explains why it was so hard to find our heater). Next time I need a hot water system I will be steering clear of Rheem.

No Hot Water again thanks to unreliable Rheem Stellar
Our Rheem Stellar gas hws started playing up just as the warranty period ( 12months) expired. The pilot light kept going out about every two weeks. I contacted the installers, Victorian Hot Water, who recommended this make and model but they weren't interested, suggested it may be caused by strong winds.It is not. We're aged pensioners, and replaced our 12 yr old Vulcan with this supposedly more efficient heater costing nearly $1400. We now have to relight the pilot light several times a week, it's hopeless. Rheem service quoted $143 for each half hour plus parts. That is not acceptable quality, and my next step is Consumer Affairs Victoria. Whatever you do, do NOT instal a Rheem.

Having the same problem as everyone here
Friday morning woke up for a shower as usual but theres no hot water at all. The flame was out. Light it up and still no hot water. Waited an hour still no hot water. We decided to google the product review of the rheem stellar and found this page. It was lucky that i was in the shower but not my children. then call the rheem operator only to be told that i have to be chrge with call out fee. I told them theres alot of people having the same problem so obviously its the system is faulty. I am thinking of starting a petition to put this company to the consumer affairs or even the current affairs on tv. I am doing my homework now on how to do so. I dont have the cash at the moment to even pay for a call out fee so i will have to have the kettle as my bestfriend for providing me with warm water. Keeps extingusihing the pilot
I purchased the unit new on Nov 11, 2015. In early march 2015, it started to go out, and after three visits from Rheem appointed plumbers the burner frame was replaced on march17, 2015.
On March 17, 2016, the pilot light was out ( I did not realize that the extended parts warranty would expire that day!). It always relights easily after I get down on my belly ( Not easy at 75), but it starts. It has gone from once a week to three times a week. After approximately 12 months of no problems, suddenly the pilot light keeps going out ! it was once a month and now it has stepped up to once a week but reading the other reviews I fear I may be in for once a day !

A beast
I have just replaced my Stella 330 with another of the same model, the last one lasted 10 years and would probably lasted longer if the previous house owner had bothered to replace the sacrificial anode (which is under the grey plastic at the top in case you are wondering).
I get mains hot water pressure even with the tempering valve thing, and I never have to worry about having cold showers when we have guest (we are a family of 2.5). I think I would have gone for the 360 if I had any adult children though.

One of the worst brands on the market
Moved into my new house a year ago and had one of these systems installed (brand new). Had nothing but constant problems with it. Pilot light goes out at least once a week (showers are now like a game of russian roulette), the piezo ignition switch broke after only a month, and now pilot won't stay lit at all.
I miss my old Rinnai. Never had to light anything ever on it. Just turned on the tap and out came hot water. Something that I very rarely get with my brand new Rheem!!
If you are looking for a hot water system DO NOT buy a Rheem! They do NOT come on "Steady, hot and strong! I will be cutting my losses and replacing it instead of stuffing around any further with it. Can't wait! Grrr

No problems at all
When our old Rinnai packed it in we had to make a quick choice on a replacement. Some of the reviews on here made it a difficult choice, but I went with the Rheem as I've had them previously and they have always been good. That was about 6 months ago, and I am so glad we went with the Rheem. It reheats really quickly, so no one misses out on a hot shower in the mornings - that use to be a real issue with the old Rinnai. The only down side I could possibly say is increased water usage due to water staying hotter for longer!

Nice Experience with Rheem
I've recently got a 5-year service of my Stellar 330 by Rheem technicians. I'm very happy with the process and believe it was the right choice than using local plumbers. I know some people may have negative experience, but I believe if you make clear when calling Rheem it is worth it. For example, in my case the Stellar was installed under eave and replacing the twin anodes is more complex than in situation where there is sufficient clearance above the unit. ly charged me for the standard replacement, even they needed to send two technicians. Very professional and friendly. In the end, replacing two valves, two anodes, cleaning burners, checking everything only few ten dollars more expensive than calling a local plumber to replace the anodes only, it is well worth a call to Rheem. On the invoice, only $60 was charged for labour (2 men, 30 mins), which was at best that one can get. I thus strongly recommend Rheem Stellar owners to consider Rheem service team when such need arises. Five stars.1 comment

Pilot light keeps going out...follow the instructions with a lot of hit and miss. Gas in the kitchen works ok. This is now the 5th time I have had to call someone to get it fixed. And Rheem want $143 callout plus costs per 15 minutes of labour.....same cost of a specialist appointment! I can fix this by going elsewhere...............thanks for making this an easy decision.
25 years of having a hot water tank and I have had more issues with this one altogether.

Wrote to Rheem Service and as usual received no response? My unit was installed 5 years ago, I had a Vulcan that last 14 years without any issues at all! Basically if you have one of these systems and yours develops "kettling" watch out - basically its the sound made as water heats & bubbles up through the scale\sediment in your tank. The noise becomes a nuisance. it sounds like someone is trying to kick their way out of it! Design fault - no outlet exists to clean\flush out deposits.
I had to pay my plumbers $350 to have this explained to me & basically told I would have to live with it due to the hard water in Perth! He descaled the tank replaced the anodes and valve and she Bangs, Bangs.

Rheem Stellar 330 The good, the bad & the ugly
Where to start? I'll keep it short. The Hot Water System (HWS) was only three & a half years old. It has taken over 3 months to fully resolve.
Countless phone calls & emails. Don't ever give up is my advice when dealing with the customer service aspect of this company.
If your HWS develops "kettling" watch out - basically its the sound made as water heats & bubbles up through the scale\sediment in your tank. The noise becomes a nuisance.
Design fault - no outlet exists to clean\flush out deposits.
I had to pay for an initial call out fee to have this explained to me & basically told I would have to live with it due to the hard water in Perth. It would be another 3 months before I was rightfully refunded.

Can't get pilot light to light up
Just took over brand new house...went away for1 month, so, set to Pilot. Came back...light went off, tried following instructions to a tee, even counting 30 sec while depressing pilot bef igniting but to no avail. Tried more than 10 times. Gas supply OK as I can use stove. Sat night no hot water, today Sun no hot water again. It's brand new...not sure what to do next.

Not very happy
We have a two year old Rheem Stellar that has stopped working - great in winter with four kids. The plumber has contacted Rheem and has advised that they need to come out for a service call. So I rang Rheem today Sunday and they advised that they were fully booked next week and could book in an appointment the week after (which is a long weekend) so we are now facing 10 days at least without hot water. Not as good as it used to be
Had a Rheem for 18 years without missing a beat, so decided to go with Rheem again. I should have check this review before committing. The pilot light keeps going out after 5 months of use. They replaced the themocouple under warranty and 3 months it happened again. Looks like they are replacing a faulty unit with another faulty unit and assumed they fixed the problem. If it's not under warranty, they charge $148 per half hour and $27 per 15 mins. This is daylight robberry! Even a doctor surgent doesn't charge that much! Sooner or later, people will find out about this company sneaky way of doing business.

IT died
well as my mothers carer money is very tight here. once i pay the mortgage the rates etc there is very little left. and now my rheem has gone to heaven. there were no warning sides i just walked out on morning to find it bucketing out water. so now im left with a sick mother and no hot water at my premises. if you want peace of mind dont purchase this unit.

Stellar 330 stopped working!!
My stellar 330 stopped heating called a plumber and said it was my thermo couple I paid $400 dollars to replace it it only worked for a day plumber wanted to charge me again for a service call out again so angry and system only 4 years old would not recommend this unit !
