Decent, needs to mower more frequently
Pros: no more pulling the engine to start, electric starts save a lot of sweat and maintenance, decent cutting, height adjustable, whole mower is comparatively light, easy to empty out.
Cons: gets hard to mow if grass left for too long, blade might get stuck with the grass if it's wet. battery lasts a small lawn and gets quite hot under load.

Look forward to mowing the lawns
Pretty happy with this purchase. Actually look forward to mowing the lawns now. I was extremely surprised about how well it could cut through tall grass. Dont have to worry about running out of petrol. If i had 1 complaint it would be that the battery life could last a bit longer. Would be handy to have a 2nd battery but they are pricey

Love it!
I like to doing gardening. But for me mower was always bit hard to turn on. Especially when you need to pull the rope thing and turn on. I had to pull it out about millions time to turn on. and not sure which hole I can pour the petrol in it. Looks stupid but I am from overseas (as you can see in my English haha) and never see lawn mower before.
Anyway this mower is easy to turn on and off, operate with battery so don't need to panic when run out of petrol. We have been using this mower for 2 years and happy with it. We bought trimmer, clip...Read more

Weak mower
Battery charger is a good unit and I like the idea of a battery powered mower. However this mower is under-powered.
Standard battery is a bit weak. I eventually bought a second battery to allow me to do the back and front lawns. The mower still struggles when mowing on the lowest height setting. It also struggles when cutting through a bit of onion grass.
Power cable that runs from the handle to the main body of the mower is flimsy and can get caught up in the machine. I accidentally severed it when folding the handle up.

A cut above the rest!
The Ryobi cordless Lawn Mower is a good buy. Mowing time up to 40minutes with a battery charge time of 2 hours.
No more petrol issues or forgetting to check the oil. It is lightweight and easy to use. The beauty of Ryobi charging units is that they can fit into other machinery pieces such as blowers and trimmers. Value for money and no mess!

Very unhappy with Brand
As with others the plastic handle model RL3640L (grab handle) on left in our case just snapped while general mowing over a week ago ..to add insult our Ryobi 36v line trimmer motor now just smokes so also unusable (went a week before Mower) .. as with others Ryobi said tough luck out of warranty re line trimmer + put online complaint 14/1/18 to Ryobi about Mower and they haven't even replied (now 10 days later). Ryobi now offer a 6 year warranty which indicates this model with 2 years was far inferior quality. Hopefully can sell batteries and hedge trimmer to cut loses as at this point will be last Ryobi product ever buy or recommend

Excellent mower
We only have this one 2 months and to be honest it’s our first mower and it’s been great! It’s pretty light, easy initial set up and does the job right! It also consumes very little petrol I think. I trust this brand and have all my houshold and garden tools by ryobi. I was hoping to get the cordless vacuum too but it is not sold here currently.

Very disappointed customer
I first used the new mower on my lawn, the grass was around 55 mm high so it wasn't very hard cutting, after using the mower for around 30 mins. it stopped working I thought the battery must have run down so I put it back in the charger, after a short amount of time the battery was showing full charge again, I attempted to start the mower again to no avail. I finished the mowing with my old petrol mower. I returned the mower to Bunnings Warehouse at Wallsend, they tried every thing they could, including another battery with no results. Bunnings gave me a full refund of the cost of the mower. but it was still a disappointment after paying $749.00 for a top of the line Ryobi lawn mower.
Neville.

Perfect mower for a Senior Female
Having battled with a heavy 4 stroke petrol mower for 6 years, this is an absolute breeze for me. One difficulty is the
attaching of the catcher, which is quite hard, but I expect it will get easier with use. Having sloping ground, I find it
easy to push and manoeuvre. The height adjuster is rather stiff, but I guess, like the catcher, it will get easier with use. I now look forward to mowing. Thank you Ryobi for the perfect mower for a little old lady!!

Why didn't we get a battery mower sooner!?
This battery mower is so easy to use compared to our old petrol one (hard to start, smelly, have to keep faffing around with the jerry can). Just push a button and away it goes. Does a better job on the grass too. We have a reasonably large garden too. The 4.0 Ah battery will do the whole garden if the grass isn't too long. If the grass is thicker, we'll need to charge the battery after 3/4 of the garden. We use that time to do weeding and a bit of a tidy up, as the battery won't take long to charge up enough to finish the lawn.
Can't wait to get an electric car now!

Perfect
Have had many battery operated mowers, but not one with a lithium battery - it recharges quickly, goes the distance and I love it. I have very steep slow on the back of my property and it still goes there, previous one had some trouble on a regular basis as the power would discharge quickly. It leaves some clippings, so need to ensure empty when not quite 3/4 full. Haven't yet needed to get a new battery as not yet 12 months old. But that could be the only issue.

why did i wait so long to replace my 4 stroke?
Here we are, all green and eco and loving our gardens and yards - and wholla, it's tired hands (my right hand and fingers just don't like pulling STIHL starter motors anymore), 2 and 4 stroke petrol fumes and noise pollution (neighbors hate 'em). Well, made the transition after checking all the research and reviews on Ryobi, Stihl, Husqa, and all the others now on the market with their chunky lithium battery systems. The Ryobi got good reviews, has an incredible warranty, the the 36 volt system batteries run across their line, all parts, servic...Read more
e, returns done through Bunnings - and it's a few hundred bucks cheaper than the (all made in China now) German branded competition (not counting the mock-german name Chinese-brands like Baumn and whatever Kogan has on line. These latter options seemed okay, probably made at adjacent factories, but their follow up and customer service got bad reviews. So Ryobi and the Bunnings hegemony it was. And the payoff is stunning. Dependable, quiet, larger catcher than my neighbor's Stihl (mine looks like a green transformers toy, his looks like a Barvarian orange and beige box). Love this thing. Got their blower and whipper snipper too and all my neighbors are kind of steaming along spewing fumes thinking about it. And, oh, reluctantly gave up my trust Honda residential to a happy gumtree buyer. The change is worth it, less earplugs, no fuel, no oil mixing, wholla. Time to get green. p.s. i got 3 batteries to run a blower, snipper, mower set up and they do the job.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I'm a convert 2
We bought the Ryobi 36V Brushless kit with the 5Ah battery & fast charger.
It has never missed a beat in over 2 years.
Back then, Ryobi was really the only 36V mower one could buy at Bunnings. Noticed Bunnings now carries 4 brands - AEG (metal deck 2 batteries); Victa (cheap); Makita (?); Ryobi 36V and 18V (new 6 year warranty). Would still buy the 36V Ryobi brushless wider cut. Just love it.
Pros:
Have purchased wipper snipper, blower and hedger "skins" in the Ryobi 36V range. All work really well. Easy to swap battery.
It was also $400...Read more

Goodbye petrol mower!
I was a little hesitant about making the switch as I am on the fussy side. After having a chat to a bunnings guy who had the same mower at home, and also chatting to the ryobi on site rep, I decided to give the mower a go.
My old victa mower is set on 3 to mow my Santa Ana couch. Setting the ryobi to 2 would be a fraction higher. Setting the ryobi to 1 means the chassis drags on the grass. I only used that height to mow around the edges with two wheels up on the concrete.
The mower takes a bit of getting used to as obviously letting go of t...Read more

Light Domestic Use - Happy So Far!
Swapped my 30 year old Masport for the bigger of the Ryobi battery powered mowers because I was tired of difficulties starting, repairs, cleaning, noise, etc. Getting the old motor mower out was always an effort, heavy, and needed trips to get fuel, etc etc. All the things the Ryobi is not. It stays under the bench in my workshop; I get out and mow at a moment's notice; my wife loves it; and with the battery out I can lift it with 3 fingers! It mows my lawn with ease - I feel though that it doesn't have the same torque as the old Masport. A...Read more
fter two months of mowing I have never got passed two dots on the battery indicator; plenty of reserve battery there! Good points: ease of handling and starting/stopping, quiet - about 70-75 db (motor mowers are 90 db plus) and mows much the same as the motor mower. But I am yet to try it on really thick high grass/bush! And I haven't given it much of a workout in wet grass. Bad points: Being plastic you must treat it with respect - don't leave it out in the sun, brush it down after use - lots of fiddly nooks and crannies under it where dust accumalates (don't use water!), bumping up against rocks will scratch or break the plastic (put some gaffer tape on the outside edge where you will rub up against garden boundaries. Finally: At $660 I reckon that it is overpriced; being plastic and the feel of it tells me that it won't last 20 years. February 2018: Bit of an update - still happy with it for all the reasons above, and ....my 8 year old granddaughter mowed a little, under supervision of course, to prove how easy it is to use. Still keeping an eye on the plastic bits that I feel just won't last. We'll see. January 2022: More update, Still going well. With all the rain this year and growth - It did struggle a little with damp and/or long grass - as I thought it might. Plastic bits holding up well - nothing to report there. Battery holding charge with no issues. During the grass growing season I leave it on charge to use whenever... So we're now into 2 and bit years of use and it's been good. I can't give you the cost of charging the battery, but I am certain that I would have have saved on fuel... say $40. I still feel that the original purchase price was high, but I reckon that is continuing to be offset by the ease of use. And then there's no more contribution to environmental pollution...Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Seemed like a good idea at the time
This is Queensland. OK for couch lawns in winter but not for buffalo lawns (sir Walter) in Summer. Was OK in early September but now its summer, was mowing at level 3 but I usually drop the level for summer, so I tried level 2 would not go so mowed at level 3 then mowed the next day at level 2. What a mission! The small tube that feeds the catcher clogs all the time, (design fault) the grass was dry and mown weekly 3 attempts to mow the lawn!!! Shouldn't be sold in Queensland may be fine south of Sydney, maybe. Wonder if I can get a refund. Not fit for purpose.

So glad we bought it
We bought this Ryobi Cordless Lawn Mower in April 2017 and are so happy with it. It's lightweight and easy to push, mows the front and back lawn beautifully with one charge and charges in full within one hour. When we had our old petrol mower, I could not start or push it, as it was so heavy, now my husband and I can mow without any problem. Would recommend highly - not much noise, no fumes, no cable!

Battery only lasts for 7 minutes?

My battery is brand new and have found that it will do my entire front yard and the back yard (which is a large) on a single charge, if the grass isn't too wet or too long. if it is, then it will need a second charge. Takes me about an hour or more to get both the front and back done. I
