very happy!
After purchacing a maxi cosi capsule (terrible) and unity capsule, we needed another seat to allow us to extend reawrard facing. It has really high markers and even my 2yo could fit rearward facing. My 5yo neice could fit FF and it gives enough room for my 6foot husband tofit I the front seat of our mazda 3. It sits quite upright which is great for a reflux bub and has heaps of padding. Oh and I just love that you dont need to put the belts through those silly slits to adjust the height, instead its a grwat little pull leaver thingo. I also love the recline feature. It is very very high though which makes it difficult to put bub in.
height adjust, padding, compact, recline, extended rf, height markers high
very high

Great narrow seat
I bought the compaq specifically because of it's narrow/small build. It fits nicely into my small-ish hatch back and I can comfortably push the passenger seat back with room to spare!
The compaq is a neat and simple design, easy to install and adjust. It's moderately priced and it also comes in a range of bright funky colours which is a bonus!
I'm very happy with our compaq and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a safe, good quality seat that isn't too bulky and doesn't cost the earth! I will definitely be buying one for bub number two!
Design, quality, size, comfort, colours

not compaq
This seat is not suited for dual cab utes
Base is too big and sides sit too high
Hard to fit in the car door
Not as the brand says it is (Compaq)
Finding alot of car seats now are just too bulky
Can someone please make a compact car seat for children

Nice looking and narrow. Great for small cars
Easy to use, narrow and fits into our small car well. It was a lower in cost than the most luxury models and this show in the amount of padding. My daugther (2yrs) seems to like it and sleeps well in it. The buttons and buckles are a bit cheaper but still work effectively.
Narrow, high wings and easy to clean
Not as padded as other models, but still comfy

Awesome car seat for extended rear facing
Wow what Can i say this is the best car seat that can fit my 19 month old who is still rear facing with about 5cm left till I can forward face her and it could be 3-4 before we forward face her its known fact that rf child 4 years and under are 5x safer then forward face children, hope britax can convince the government to make it 12 months minimum for rf not 6 months

Good for small car
Purchased the compaq because I have a small car. It was easy to install and fits in tight and secure. Easy to adjust straps. Bubba enjoys his car rides and seems very comfortable. Easy to keep clean. The side bits are a little high whilst in rear facing position but bub is still ok to get in and out.
Easy to install and adjust straps.
Side bits a bit high.

Safe and reliable with out the bulk
We brought 2 of these and also have a Safe n sound Hi-liner booster seat to fit nicely in our sedan for our 3 kids aged 5 and under and we love the new 2012 model SnS Compaq's they are safe and great for rear facing as they are approved to 15 kg rear facing and have a very high / tall height marker our nearly 4 year old who is top of height charts for ages
has only just gone over the rearward facing height marker and still inches of the top marker to progress to a booster seat and our super long and thin 7.5 month old has plenty of room und...Read more
er the rearward facing line and is only just gone 8 kg so should be able to hopefully stay rearward facing in the capsule mode till 3 years+ old :) the kids loved they had a big choice of color to choose from in the range and my husband and I loved that they ticked all our boxes, top safety ratings and testing, long term rear facing, very compact too plenty of room for front seats to go back/recline and also narrow enough for 3 car seat restraints across the rear seat, we love the easy adjustment of the straps and no having to re-thread straps just pull lever to adjust the height. We also thought the price was fair and competitive but we weren't concerned on price for safety but did mention if after buying that the price was a lot less then we had expected to pay :) so we all in all love our Safe-n-sound 2012 model green and purple Compaq's :) also should mention we don't ever want a car accident but love SnS offer car seat exchange program and will replace our car seat with new ones if ever in a car accidentSimilar opinion? Good
Overall am happy with this product. It can be a bit fiddly to get our baby into the seat as the straps twist around, but I'm pretty sure this is the case with all car seats. Our baby seams quite comfortable in it. And best of all it doesn't take up too much room - we almost got the Meridian and I'm glad we didn't because the seat in front would have had to be all the way forward. As it is my husband (who is 6 foot) has trouble fitting in.
Compact although it still takes up quite a lot of room in our Astra and the seat in front can't go all the ...Read more

Great seat for small cars and big babies
I absolutely love this carseat. It fits perfectly in my small suzuki swift, but at the same time fits my daughter who is well above average in both height and weight. Also being a new height marker seat it has enabled me to keep my daughter in a rear facing position longer (still rear facing at 13 months and still a few more months to go). The new harness adjuster makes it very easy to adjust the harness when seat is in rear ward facing position. My daughter must find this seat very comfy as we recently went on a 15hr drive and my daughter did cry once. Highly recommend this product, money well spent.
Easy harness adjustment, compact size yet big enough to accommodate larger child, comfy, cool colours, easy to install and use

Big on comfort and small on size.
Recently bought the Safe & Sound Compact for our second daughter and have found it great because it does not take up too much space next to the booster seat. Also the safety harness is very easily adjustable and is quick to adjust when changing between cars.
The padding is above average and the baby has been on many long journeys and stayed awake/fallen asleep without any discomfort whatsoever.
Comes standard with a protector which helps it stay in place on the seat.
Very happy with the purchase, and would recommend to anyone looking for a smaller car seat that still offers good comfort and protection for the child
Size and comfort.

The seat might be smile but there's a big smile on this mum's face
This car seat is amazing, not only is it compact but it provides great comfort for my daughter. The fact that she can be rearward facing until 15kgs and has about 4 inches to go till the turn around lines are also fantastic features. I cannot fault this seat at all, definitely worth the money knowing my daughter will be safe n sound.
Compact, comfortable, safe n sound
A little expensive

Snug as a bug!
I am very pleased with our Britax Safe-N-Sound Convertible Child Restraint (Thanks to Product Reveiw) in knowing that we won't have to worry about upgrading the restraint for four years. The restraint was easy to install although I did have to buy an extension strap to install correctly. Now rearward facing I find it easy to lift bub in and out of the restraint and with the push button adjuster it is simple to adjust the harness. I am quite confident that in twelve months time I won't have any problems in turning the restraint around so it is ...Read more

We purchased 3 of these, as we have a 20 month old and 6 month old twins. We could not fit 3 car seats in our car with other models, but these fit and are wonderful. All the features of the larger models... we love them!
Practicle, comfortable, looks great, easy to remove cover and wash, easy to adjust the strap length. Each buckle can be secured seperatley, which was a big thing for us (you don't have to join them together and then insert which is impossible with a wriggling toddler), will fit in a small car, or as in our case, we can fit 3 accross the back seat of our sedan

Very pleased with this seat. Would buy again, does not take up as much seat room as other car seats.
Very compact. Was perfect for a small car. This car seat protected my 8 month old son 100% in a serious car accident. For this reason we felt very confident in purchasing another one despite buying a large car and not needing the compac design anymore.
Fabric design not as nice as some other models such as the compac delux.

I did a lot of research when considering which car seat to buy in preparation for my little ones arrived and I came to the conclusion that this was the best option for us considering the price, safety rating and that it can be used until the child reaches 18kgs. On the RAVC 2010 testing the Compaq was the highest rating convertible seat for the rear facing position, and also a good rating in the face forward position as well. Safe n Sound are a reputable car seat brand, and I am really happy with my choice my baby looks comfortable and I have peace of mind that she'll be protected in the event of a car crash.
The price especially considering how high the safety rating was compared to other seats with similar ratings is an excellent bargin

Safe option
Purchased for around $300 from Baby Buntings; this looked to be an economical option as it converts from the rearward facing reclined seat to forward facing upright seat when baby is old enough. Thereby negating the need to purchase/hire a capsule for 6 months. Installation was not difficult, however some extra internet research was required into the seatbelt "buckle". Not sure why this was not mentioned in the instructions as it was definitely necessary.
Inexpensive, convertable.
Instructions did not account for all types of seat belts; buckle required.

Fantastic seat!!!
I am so glad I didnt go and spend the hundreds and hundreds of dollars that some other seats cost. They all do the same thing. You will be amazed by how much room a car seat takes up. So this compaq I think is the perfect size. Its easy to install and we needed a towel to get it straight in our curved seats but once we figured out the right angle its perfect. I havent used it forward facing yet but if anything it will be easier to use. Only thing is and this might be for all rearward facing seats its not so easy to get your little one out of th...Read more

Good seat, but a challenge to fit
Bought it as was rated fairly highly in most recent tests of car seats. Needed to get professionally fitted, as we needed an extra clip on the seatbelt to make it secure, which was not supplied - likely to have been an issue with all seats and the seat belt style, but not sure if others would have supplied the clip needed.
Narrow fit, means can still use two seats in the back
Lack of extra clip needed to fit as above. Instructions seemed confusing

Questions & Answers
Abbeyasked
Hi, I bought a second hand Britax Safe-n-Sound Compaq from a good friend had a back up for my mother’s car. When my little one is in the seat rear facing, the harness straps won’t tighten, very hard to pull. I have to fiddle with the back for it to work. Though without my little one the straps can be easily pulled?
