This is a top little washer!
I can't believe how well clothes wash, but best of all they come out of machine and dry so much quicker. I can even control length of wash rinse spin.
Purchased in November 2021 for $100.00.

A bit rough on my clothes
This is a solid washing machine which I have used frequently for a number of years. I like the simple display and various wash settings. One thing I have noticed is that it can be a little rough on my clothes. In fact, when I notice a little hole in my underwear and I want to throw them away but feel guilty because it isn't quite bad enough yet, I throw it into the washing machine knowing it will tear it up a little bit! I use wash bags to keep my more delicate clothes safe (which you should do with any washing machine). The energy and water ratings are also poor. It is a reliable machine though so I'm giving it 3 stars.

Cant fault this machine... 5 years on and still going strong
I purchased this machine second hand just over 3 years ago for $150 (it was about 2 years old a the time so total age is approx. 5 years). It hasn't skipped a beat and is the perfect size for a couple. Despite being a 50 L machine it is very roomy (perhaps due to the unobtrusive rotator design).
All you need to do is turn it on and press go, the machine works out how much water it needs and adjusts the time accordingly - perfect. There are plenty of other programs and adjustments if you want to do quick or delicate load etc.... and it is si...Read more
mple to use (intuitive). Washes everything perfectly first time. My only slight quibbles if I had to fault it: - the plastic on the lid and top seems to have yellowed quite noticeably but since it is hiding in the laundry and doesn't affect the use of the machine I can live with it. - the tune it plays at the end of the cycle is a bit cheesy... but again, I can live with that. At least it doesn't keep beeping until you turn it off like some machines do. - not the most energy efficient machine but very cheap and reliable1 comment
This machine finally stopped working after 7+ years of solid service... I actually didn't bother to repair it and just got a new, larger, Samsung to replace it (repair callout fee is ~$200, new machine $599.. I figure its not worth repairing)

Competitive price, Good in first year only
We bought this top loader washing machine (SW50USP) after our NEC machine had broken. The machine broken two weeks ago because the valve became rustic and water leak to the Control Board. Control Board somehow didn't give signal so it didn't wash, Cold Water wouldn't get into the machine. End up repairer suggest us get a new one, the repair may cost the same as the new one.
we bought another one and this time we go for European brand. we only have tiny space to fit the washing machine by the time I thought we don't have too much option. Now...Read more
we look around we just realise most front loader can fit that width so we end up by a better brand. 3 years using this machine we found… Cleaning the filter is problematic because the drain filter lay on the back of the machine, every time we clean up you have to move the whole machine to clean. Leaking happen at least once a year even you clean up the drain filter. Competitive price, Good in first year Leaks inside and out, short life span, expensive maintaince, spinning very loud after a year usage.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Won't buy another Samsung
I had one of these machines and it worked fabulously, then it started to show black bits of something all over the clothes when the cycle finished, despite me cleaning the filter each time. I put in a service call and told them the issue, can't remember what I was told, but it was a tale of spin. Because I was happy with the rest of its operation and assuming it was a one iff issue, I tossed this and bought another one the same. After some use, same thing, spitting out black bits of something all over the clothes. Also about every fourth wash o...Read more
r so, there is a puddle of water on the floor from a leak somewhere. A shame because other than this it's a great machine but I give up now, I'll buy something else and toss this one too. Great price and size, washes well, very reliable. Black stuff spitting out, puddles of water OB floor every fourth wash or so.1 comment
We had the same issue and found it was mould from using fabric softener. We stopped using fabric softener and the problem stopped. That machine just broke - emmited a nice burning smell!

Ok machine
We bought this machine (sw50usp) after our Electrolux one packed it in after 10 years we never had any probs with it and should of stuck with the brand we trusted. This machine leaks we cannot find out where and when I rang help line we were told it was because we hadn't put pipes on tightly and hung up on.
The leak wasn't that big of an issue only slight and water went straight down the drain now we have moved and laundry is in kitchen so no drain and no slope on the floor so have to pull the machine out everday and dry the floor. Now the cold water inlet valve has gone. Every now and then the machine fills up with water for no reason.
Cheap and nasty.

Works welll
I bought the SW50USP version. I use this machine 1-4 times a week without any major problems. It doesn't seem to sense the height of a load of washing accurately, so I adjust it to a higher capacity of water setting. I love how I can wash bulky items such as pillows due to it not having an agitator. The only time I've had problems with things tangling (due to the lack of an agitator) is when I am pre-washing large lengths of dress fabrics, and they all end up in one big tangled mess.
Works well

I wouldn't recommend it
In 18 years My Simpson Delta 422 never required any service. It was however, showing symptoms of fatigue. Poor thing. I replaced it with a Samsung SW50USP thinking that if I got half of 18 years I would be doing alright. However, within 2 weeks I returned it to the supplier. It emitted a very loud bang when I manually changed water temperatures, as well as, during a full automatic cycle. Perhaps water pressure or valve related I considered this to be a serious mechanical problem. Apparently, this problem has been identified in other models, yet...Read more
it still hasn't been ironed out. Perhaps its less costly to do nothing or Samsung believe its standards to be in sync with those of its paying customers. Such mechanical failures one expects after long service. As it is, my confidence in the machine's durability took a nose dive. Secondly, changing washing, rinse and spin cycles I found infuriating, e.g. interupting the 'washing' cycle so as to reduce the remaining time of this stage had the opposite affect. The machine would begin the whole wash cycle from the beginning. In short, the more one tries to decrease various cycle times the more one is caught in additive and interminable loops. Ah, the old Simpson, whatever stage it was in simply depress the dial, click-turn to spin dry and wallah! The only good thing I can say is that the finished quality of the machine is excellent - but as they say you can't judge a book by its cover. PS: keep it simple. The more electronic bells and whistles on cheap-end machines(sensors and the like)the greater the probability of dissatisfaction and/or service. Read reviewSimilar opinion? SW50USP would be a great machine if it didn't leak water on my new tiles
I would have been really, really happy with this machine ( would have given it 5 starts) if it was not for a known fault - It started leaking water within 6 months and the repairman said it was a known fault - They advised me to only turn the taps only a little bit. I think he replaced the hot water inlet valve, which was inside the machine and he said it was a known fault. I have been really careful with the taps being hardly opened but after only a few months, the machine has started leaking water sometimes. Looks like I will have to get it re...Read more
paired again. I won't be getting it repaired if it starts leaking once it is no longer under warranty. I will get rid if it. Was really cheap,, Washes well and no lint on clothes. Unlike my previous simpson. Fits into a small space. Water leaking from under machine, is a known fault.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent
I recommend this little washing machine for small households (we are 3 adults)- we have had ours for 4-5 months and have been very happy with it. Hopefully it continues to please.
I have the 5 kilo version of this machine and have been delighted with it, it washes well, the lint trap works very well and it has this happy little tune it plays when it's finished, makes me laugh every time I hear it. It also has a large capacity, lets you know if it is overfull, and the turbo dry does really get the things close to dry. It took our queen size quil...Read more
