Perhaps I can explain what I understand you to mean...
When listening to the TV, the sound is fine, until the TV is switched off or a recording ends, then no signal is being sent by the docking station, followed about 2 minutes later by the silence being replaced by a loud hissing noise, which is the headset's way of warning you to stop using battery power. If it didn't do this, you could take off the headset whilst it's still on, so that the next time you pick it up, it's dead. If this is what you refer to, the resolution is simple...
I can't imagine that the headset could switch itself off under these circumstances, otherwise it may do it accidentally, at a crucial time you need to hear something important. So as there is zilch to listen to, except the hissing noise, you lift your left hand to the headset and operate the on/off switch, which is situated at the rear about half way up. I use my thumb nail to operate this switch. Up position (on mine) is 'on', down position is 'off'. As Aleksandr Orlov of Meerkat fame would say, "Simples".

I play guitar and use the headphone to not annoying everyone in the room that are watching television or something.
When i search for songs, i leaf my headphone on, but it scare me to death when the sissing sound come on. My elder headphone, it dont warn me to spare me batterie power, he just switch off. Simple hey Keith?

Do you have some other headphones that work? If so, plug into your smart phone and tune into a radio station. Make sure it plays in both ears by removing the headphones one at a time from each ear. If it is playing in both ears then it is a good signal. THEN plug in the Sennheiser. The tuning should tune in both sides at once. If only in one ear then they are faulty. Take them back

You can buy direct from Sennheiser but they are much dearer than the ones I bought. I would suggest looking at alternatives to these given they now retail for AU$249. I bought a pair from Sennheiser from their "refurbished" shop for AU$99, ie. the shop where they package and sell items that were shop displays. They are "like new"

I bought mine from the Sennheiser site but they were "refurbished", ie. shop floor stock returned with no box etc. and only paid AU$99. However, they are on sale on their site but at AU$249 I would be looking at other alternatives! I wouldn't pay that price for them

I bought mine from amazon brand new for AUD $107 delivered from the US, they had the US plug but, the adaptor is a universal 100V to 240V so they work in Australia, If you go to their site they do have additional headsets for the RS120 & RS120 II called the HDR120. The additional headsets are nearly the same price as the whole RS120 kit, I cant see the logic in just buying the headsets.

If your tv has a 3.5mm (or bigger) headphone socket (3.5mm socket is the size of headphone sockets on mobile phones and laptops etc.) they will connect. The base of the unit has a cable and plug. You sit the base near the tv, plug it in and that cancels the speakers in the tv and then turn the headphones on and you can listen. As mentioned in the review, you can't move around too much and do active work as they slide off but I manage to walk around the house, do jobs in the kitchen as long as I remember not to tilt my head right over.

Another person can watch the tv, but without additional headphones, they would not be able to hear anything. But i do believe that the one unit can be used with multiple (wireless headphones) although i have personally not tried this myself.

No, unfortunately. You plug the headphones into the headphone socket on the TV and this turns the sound off.

We didn't use the speaker plug socket, which would cancel out the TV speakers, the socket acts as a switch as well as a connection. The way around this is to use the cable connectors which most TV's use as an alternative, this doesn't act as a switch. All is explained in the installation instructions.
Then in our case, I listen to quiz shows using headphones, so I can clearly hear the questions, whilst my wife listens normally.
There is a way with this connection method, to switch off the sound of the TV speakers, but only if you are listening to Foxtel. Using the TV control mute the sound, but using the Foxtel control, don't mute the sound. This works, so another person in the same room may use the phone whilst you listen through the headphones, both undisturbed by the other.

Are you sure it's not connected?
Mine is exactly the same and yep i thought it wasn't connected but it is.
Appears to be std for this model, so not well designed power socket or plug.

Hi...to be honest I'm not sure..I would take it back while still under warranty and see how you go..Use the warranty while you can. It possible the battery may have issues. Take care

Hello Donna, on the L of the headphone it has the "on/off Switch", on the right it should have the "Tune" control and the "- Volume +" control. After you plug them in to your
sound source,turn them on and turn down the volume so you can hear it a bit, then get the "Tune" control and turn it to the left slowly,you will get some static,then turn it the
other way until you can hear if the headphones get louder or not. Once you have the best reception,then you can turn up your headphones. If that does not work you might
have to go into your TV and see if you can adjust the volume through that way. I hope this helps.

You can hear the TV's sound via the headphones when your TV is muted. So your husband can watch and enjoy the sound with just him hearing it. You can also watch and hear the TV without changing the plugs etc.

Hi. The green light goes on when the device is receiving a signal. I have the same thing with my power plug - it sits proud but it is working. One little hint is that it is easy to use the wrong switch when trying to adjust the volume or the frequency.

Power lead is same as mine. Green light only comes on when it starts to transmit. That is when the program starts. I use the headphones when watching movies on Netflix. Had to buy a splitter from Jaycar to split the hdmi cable and have a 3.5 mm female for the headphone jack to plug into. My tv does not have the headphone jack. For just tv I plug the 3.5 mm into the audio out port on the tv. Hope this helps

Many thanks Sparty & Rusty. I had to get a DAC - Digital to Analogue Converter - to go from the TV Optical Output to the Converter Digital Input, and then a twin cable on to the Transmitter RCA socket. After 5 days of frustrating trial and error, it all worked perfectly. I found a fault in getting power to the transmitter - I'd turned a switch off on the new "super dooper" power board!! Totally human error!

When you have the ear phones on the right way -- tuning and volume on the left side and on and off to the right side -- on the left side where the tuning and volume are, sometimes the volume MIGHT get a bit out of wack, so try turning the tuning.

Also IF you have the TV on mute then after awhile the hissing will happen AND the green light will go off but as soon as you take the Mute off on the TV it will right its self

I would like to thank everybody for the suggestions you gave to resolve the problem I was having with my headphones. Unfortunately none of them resolved the problem I was having however I did find a resolution in the end. While browsing through the TV menu (looking for a setting related to the headphones) I found and adjusted the ear phone volume (I raised it) and since then I've had no issues with the headphones kicking out.

Hi Denise, mine have had none of these problems. It sounds like yours may be faulty, even without a receipt I would contact the shop where you purchased them or contact sennheiser directly.

Hi Denise, On the left hand ear bit there is a "tuner"and a "volume" try tuning the "tuner" a little --do it in small movements, this might solve the problem.
Re the lights you really have to get them in the right spot on the charger.
If this doesn't work I would do what Fightingpants said and take them back or ring Sennheiser, I am sure the place you bought them from will have a copy of the purchase.

By right spot on the charger I meant to add, you have to get metal to metal --as it is very easy to lay them on the padding

I could not tell you the difference between the two, what has changed. I can only assume the 120 II, being the successor to the 120. Sennheiser are a good company and you would expect they would improve upon previous generations, unlike some companies which do not and just try to make more money with a poorer quality product.

I have the 120 II I have never had them b4 so don't know which are the better ones, they seem to have a good stereo sound but I only use them when watching TV when I have guests. I just don't think they are very comfortable, I was used to the --- Digitor Infra Red ones, which were a perfect fit maybe get to be able to try them on b4 you buy.

I have and LG TV that does not have a headphone port. I have an optical to analog converter (optical is the only audio output on these LG TVs). Having the headphones plugged in to this has no effect on the TV sound. If your TV has a headphones socket that you can plug in to I would suggest plugging in a set of ear buds from your mobile phone and see if they cut the main speakers out.
Something I have noticed since replacing the RS120s with RS170 with "Kleer" digital wireless is there was no 'lag' with the FM wireless transmission of the RS120s. There is a noticable lag with the new, more expensive, RS170 headphones that gives a sort of echo effect because the TV sound is slightly ahead of the sound from the RS170s

Yes. We listen to TV at normal volume and Dad uses them so he can hear better. He has his own independent volume control. He will often turn the cricket on and mute the sound on the main TV and then wander around the house listening to it still.

If connected to the TVs RCA port (red/white) it doesn't cut the sound out on the TV. If connected to the headphone socket it will. I found my parents new Sony didn't have an RCA port. Samsungs usually do, as well as LG.

It is connected via RCA or standard 3.5mm plug so will fit all televisions. It would have to plug into the headphone socket on your iPad, so kind of defeats the purpose of having wireless headphones when you're sitting so close to your pad you could just have wired headphones anyway...

In short, pretty much any device that can output sound via large headphone jack, small headphone jack or RCA ports (red and white plugs) will work.

As far as I can tell the difference is the RF120 was sold in the US market and the RF120 II sold in the AUS market?
