Absolutely the poorest customer service I have ever experienced.
Do not even consider car insurance with Shannons. The amount of rubbish I had to endure to claim on two electronic keys that were stolen when my house was burgled was astonishing - I cant explain in words how incredibly difficult they made the process. I went to the trouble of putting my car up on blocks so the robbers couldnt return and steal my car at a later stage - absolutely no credit from Shannons for that.

The time I spent trying to assist the claim process to move forward was at least 30 hours. Finally received part of the claim I was entitled to but honestly cannot waste anymore time on this. This company is not worth insuring with. DO NOT CONSIDER CAR INSURANCE WITH SHANNONS.

Awful!!!
I've been with Shannons for 15 years.
Incident 1: Car was hit while stationary, took 6 years to get the car back to normal, largely due to Shannons. Their "Share the passion" hype goes out the door when a claim is made. The fake friendly voice selling you the policy is not the person you deal with when you claim. The assessors are contractors and you may as well be with AAMI or Fly By Night insurance. Assessor told me that one part of my car was never damaged despite photo evidence.

ncident2: Advised Shannons of incident which was being fixed by third parties insurance company. somehow claim went on my record despite no claim being made. If by chance you choose Shannons: 1) Only deal with the Sydney office, Adelaide & Brisbane are by far not the most capable people on the planet, nor helpful. 2) Check the value of your car on each years renewal, they lower it each year and before you know it your car is worth 60% of it's value, despite it being a rare example of an old vehicle. Friendly staff. Had good knowledge on my car and they were the only insurance to insure my vehicle as it was an import. Unfortunately I had an accident and it was unrepairble. They paid me the agreed value. I will use them again.

Waiting Months to be paid out as ince my car was stolen!
Unfortunately I lost my job due to s work related issue so yes I am experiencing financial difficulties!
To make things worse my ute was stolen and if that isn't enough kick in the guts my insurance company has not paid me! In my policy of the vehicle is not found within 15 days I'm paid out well it's truly into a few months now and they still have not paid me!
I was even told by a senior officer that i need to make better choices and sort my life out!

My background rules me out
I was advised to call Shannons by another insurer as i want to insure an F-150 ute and they know they had done it for another client.
When i called up Shannons i was told cause i didn't attend car shows, didn't ride a motorbike, didn't have a modified car and didn't intend to modify this car that they wouldn't insure me.
Very unusual business model to turn away potential clients and as i told them how could i recommend them after my experience? I will make sure i tell my "car enthusiast" friends not to insure with Shannons.

What a con.
Shame on you Shannon's! Just because someone is only 27 does not mean that they must have torched their car. Why the hell would you buy a $40,000 show vehicle and torch it, in the middle of the day and then only claim $15,000 for the damage. Disgraceful treatment of your customers. We certainly won't be insuring our bikes with you.

They were good with rental car but we were told that we would get the agreed value, except the money from the wreck, I have never heard of that as you guys sell the wreck and get more then your money back, the agreed value is the agreed value

Kind and easy to deal with.
After crashing my pride and joy I was in shock and worried about what would happen but after my initial phone call to Shannons to make the claim and talking to the lovely lady on the other end my nerves had eased. It was an easy and seamless process. I chose my own repairer and everything. I rang them a few times throughout the process to check the status of my claim and everyone I spoke to was very friendly and understanding.
All in all I was very pleased with the service and I will be insuring all my future cars with Shannons.

Rang them, got the old experiencing high demand thing and told it’s a 40 minute wait. Well still waiting, may as well just send a pine box lol.

Beat my previous insurer by $40 a month and offered better coverage!
Previous insurer made you pay much higher premiums if you wanted things such as window repairs without excess and simply choice of repairer.
Shannons offered me much more coverage (no excess on window once a year AND CHOICE OF INSURER INCLUDED) for $40 cheaper per month!
Highly recommend getting a quote from Shannons as they're awesome to deal with and offer great insurance policies!

10 days before they take their collective hands of their doodles
After paying $1050 in excess and 10 days with multiple promised call backs that were never delivered. Shannons are still yet to even assess my car. It went begrudgingly to their preferred repair shop Crapital SMUG on newlands rd in Coburg only for them to scream TOO HARD and send it off to some place in Laverton. Ill be moving my car and my family with all 14 vehicles will also be looking elsewhere.

No longer give you choice of repairer
After you obtain a quote on your damage their assessor writes his own quote at half the real cost and tells you that you MUST take you car to a "Suncorp" repairer for a second quote. if you don't do that they will pay you out the cheaper quote. their hourly rate is $54.00. GOOD LUCK getting a quality job done on your car for $54.00 an hour.

Shannon's don't want your money
I tried to get insurance for my pride and joy 1963 EH Holden but as I wasn't a member of a car club, I was asked "so what did you buy it for?!" and "this insurance is for enthusiasts" and told to look elsewhere. So I did. Shannon's must be doing well financially if they can turn people away like this.

Pathetic service and care factor zero, so beware.
Good to deal with setting up policy but claiming was a different story. After a month at repairers they then asked where the car was. Then towed car to another repairer out of Sydney then declared that they wouldn't guarantee repair and wanted to give a "cash settlement". Phoned as private number to ask for my bank details which I refused to give them. Not once did Shannons give me any word on the progress of my car. I would have made probably 20 calls and spent many hours on the phone. Only one mudguard was damaged, parts freely available but had no car for three months.

Terrible! Never recommend them to anyone
Placed my 1st claim in 15yrs, told where to take the car and the repairs were absolute crap!!! Been fight for 3 months and still not fixed. What a joke of a company!!! Now they want more info fro me so they can claim there money back for the other party? Screw you shannons, you get nothing from me!!!

Terrible - Stay clear of these scammers
After paying huge premiums for years and never making a claim I was in the unfortunate position recently where I was involved in an accident - Not at fault mind you. I chose my repairer (as per the agreement of my policy) and had my vehicle towed to them. Shannons refuse to send an assessor to my repairer, as they are not one of their preferred repairers. Worst insurance in the world Further to my original review regarding these ‘scammers’, I have cancelled my policy and ALL Suncorp underwritten policies for all my properties, cars and CTP. This mob will not stand by you in the event of an accident or claim. I was involved in a ‘not at fault’ vehicle collision (ie. I was rear ended by another car) and Shannons are refusing to honour the conditions of their policy. I have paid for ‘choice of repairer’ and have elected my preferred panel shop (who happens to be an authorized factory repairer) but Shannons wants to send it to some backyard hack because they are cheaper. What is he point of opting for ‘choice of repairer’ if you cannot use it! My car is a European performance vehicle which requires expert technicians etc to ensure it’s returned to factory condition. I refused to give in to these scammers so have had my vehicle repaired by the ‘expert’ workshop at my own expense and am suing the ‘at fault’ driver and their insurance company. As for Shannons, I will not stop telling people how bad they and have also lodged a complaint with the financial ombudsman. Policy very easy to set up and them taking the money, but when it came to paying out wellll... i had 2 classic cars stolen, corvette stingray and a valiant charger they didnt interview me they interrogated me. 5 months later im still dealing with them they are using every excuse not to pay.. never again.. does anyone out there no of any person actuality getting paid from them??? dont care one bit.. December 3rd 2018 Update: DO NOT INSURE CARS WITH SHANNONS.. Absolute Scammers. Quick to take your money. NO payouts. I had 2 clasic cars stolen, a corvette stingray and a valiant charger. I found the stingray and recovered it from gumtree. No help to police nor shannons. 5 months later still fighting with them for the payout for the charger and damages to corvette.. they are trying to find any little loop hole not to pay..heres a list of what they are asking and this is after 2 interviews from investigators. Rememeber these cars were in storage not on the road and shannons knew this when i insured them. - full service history vehcles, including parts receipts for services completed if serviced at home. - Receipts for any restoration works.Similar opinion? Bodgied up where possible. Repairers are getting to the point of refusing to work with Shannons / Suncorp because of their bodgy repair policies with cheap parts and labour.
