Worst car insurance company

Their underwriting is deceptive and misleading - they penalise you for making a claim where you weren’t at fault and were able to provide the other drivers details including license and address

I was held to ransom on my insurance claim

I had my claim riddle with errors, oversight and at 1 point Budget/ Auto General was holding my claim back in ransom for me to update MY NEW but completely different policy with ING (also Auto General underwriters) as it was the same car.

After I cancelled my ING policy, another Auto General customer service rep finally admitted they had no grounds to do that because my contract with budget had nothing to do with my contract with ING though the underwriter was Auto General in both cases.

Not really worth my money

When it comes to making a claim over the phone the wait time is over 30 minutes. They say time is money - if I need to keep waiting 30 minutes each time I need to discuss my claim, I may as well insure with someone who values their customer's time considering lodging a claim is such a stressful time.

I purchased a new car and sold my old one and all within a few minutes I was able to setup my insurance for my new car, cancel my old one and receive my remaining refund and transfer my roadside assist. By looking up my Rego, it was all pretty straight forward without having to know all the standard features and specifications of my new car. This was all online as well, so could do it at anytime that was convenient. Was cheaper than all other quotes too, so very easy. I've made no claims so cannot comment from that perspective.

I wouldnt take any notice of the 5 star reviews most of them Budget Direct writes themselves to make them selves look good.They are really s l o w when making a claim Put the claim in Then you dont hear from them they go out of their way to stall as long as they can it took me nearly 4 months then get they get the claim down as low as they can.

They were pathetic. I had my NO fault of mine, car accident in November. They have called me maybe twice, since the accident. Every other time I have had to call them. I never hear from them for weeks at a time! Useless!

Dont know about mice damage, but I got my dates wrong about a accident from 4 years ago and they wouldn't pay out accident, which is fine. But they cancelled my policy instead of letting me cancel. Now no insurer will let me take out a policy for 3 years due to having a policy canceled.
