Automatic Policy Renewal
Just a warning to others. On receiving my annual policy renewal which was to be automatically debited to my account, I thought I would request a "dummy quote" pretending to be a new customer. I did so, the only thing differing from my existing policy was my birthdate (I changed it by 2 days) and my address (I used the street next to ours). It came in nearly $80 cheaper than what I was to pay! I quizzed them about this and they could not come up with any reason for this. I then cancelled my policy. Obviously, they are ripping off new customers.

An absolute scam
I have been in an accident (entirely not my fault) and lodge my claim one hour after it. Not only they haven't contacted me once but they still haven't processed to refunding my car (they have assessed it as a written off and I start to have doubts now) after 14 days (they have acknowledged they were late after I call them twice) and won't provide me with a loan as 14 days is their maximum, whether you are the faulty driver or not and whether your car has been written off / repaired / or not.
Here I am now with no car, no loan car and no money refunded so I can't buy a new one.
I will change insurance as soon as I get the refund.

Absolute Dogs!!
These people are absolute dogs. Don’t care about you or your situation. Took over 6 weeks to resolve a claim and over 20 hours worth of phone call.I also have a newborn baby and had to use my wife's car and my family was stuck at home. They said they didn’t give a damn about my situation. I was left in the dark the whole time. Had to track down different departments myself. Was told false information by a nob end called [name removed] in the claims department. Would definitely not recommend these dogs!!

Struggles
It has been a struggle to get in touch with Budget Direct - I have phoned them 3 to 4 times and have not been able to get in touch with them .
They do not call you and leave all the responsibility to the customer .
I must say I have been regretting the change from my previous insurer as this has been nothing but headache .

Hopeless claims process
The whole claims process was a debacle and dragged on for months, I must have called Budget Direct 20 times during this period and wasted endless hours either on hold or being transferred around. They never once provided an update, it was always up to me to keep phoning them to get an answer. The internal departments don't speak to each other which only exacerbates the issue. Complete waste of my time. I have since canceled my policy and will never use them again. Oh, and don't expect a premium refund of any sort when you cancel!

STAY AWAY!!!!! The worst company I've dealt with!
My claim has been outstanding for months now. I have provided all details about the claim and sent requested forms immediately for processing. Budget has failed to contact me regarding the progress of my claim. I have chased third party insurers for reference numbers and details of the other party, I have made the phone calls to the bus company that was responsible for the accident. Despite providing all these details to Budget no outcome has been reached. My vehicle remains damaged and they are not even contacting me to say what has happened. I should be paid by Budget as I'm doing the work and they're taking my money! Unfair, unjust, incompetent, lazy and UNRESOLVED and inapt to do what I pay them to as a customer.

Easy and trust worthy
Very good customer service. My car was recently written off which I was held at fault. To lodge the claim was very easy, only took about 20 mins on the phone. There were no inapropriate questions or badgering. From there I did not have to contact them once, they were the ones contacting me if anything else was needed or if there were any administrative issues. They valued my car via red book, which was a very appropriate evaluation. It took 2 weeks from lodging the claim to receiving the settlement. Overall extremely happy with my service

Budget Insurance
Budget does not like to honour the claims they tend to hang up when you try to phone them and make excuses to not pay for claims by over complicating there policy wording buyer be ware they will do you over if they can so I had to pay for my own repairs I'm lucky it will only cost me $2500 Imagine if it was $30000 they just told me they would not pay unless I show them proof Ill see them in court.

Why can’t I give zero.
Used a loophole to get out of paying a car accident claim. Should have stayed with NRMA. I hope no one in your family ever makes an honest mistake and is punished for it.

Adds terms and conditions including extras after
Budget direct added an additional extra because I'm under 25, this was not mentioned anywhere before I got the insurance. It does not make sense. How can a listed driver be made to pay additional excess for something the company already knows.

Poor customer service if you expect better care when you are not at fault
My 5 week old car was T-boned by someone who skipped a red light. Brand new continental car. I requested budget direct to send to authorized body shop to maintain warranty. I also went a step above to confirm the party involve to lodge a complaint and provide the claim number from the other party, so that budget direct will not be paying for the accident.
All I requested was to be sent to authorized dealership to do the fix as it was a brand new car. But budget direct refused and only kept quoting,”you do not have preferred repair”, hence yo...Read more
u don’t get to choose. So after all the fuss, they only did what they wanted to do, regardless of the fact I gave all details of the other insurer! Completely no care or consideration for customers. Truly as the name says “Budget” please don’t fall for this disgrace of a company, and if you buy an expensive car, just pay the extra 200 and get a better insurer!Similar opinion? If you don't expect communication then Budget Direct is for you.
They simply will not phone or email me to update me on my claim. I am having to chase them with multiple phone calls and emails. It has been over one month since the claim was lodged and I have no idea on progress. Last I heard was 2 weeks ago when they were going to determine who was at fault and get back to me. So I am now having to chase them again. Usually it takes 2 emails for them to then call me. Given the amount of money I pay them each month I expect far better. Once this claim is finalised I will DEFINITELY be switching insurer.

Yes, there monthly rates are great, but wait until you actually need to make a claim !
They are great value as long as you don't ever need to claim on your insurance,
You'll need to ring and explain each time to a new person, don't expect it to be fast, and regardless of the circumstances, they will take your excess, they won't ring witnesses or make any effort to substantiate claims, they will lie and tell you they had no luck contacting witnesses, only when I rang the completely unknown to me witnesses in regards to this, they had never at any time had Budget Direct attempt to contact them, which is what they informed budge...Read more

Find your own way back to get your car!!!
Had my car damaged during recent hail storm in Melbourne. Dropped my car off at hail repairers organised by A&G insurance (Budget) and they arranged for a cab to get me home Now due to pick up my car and when I asked how am I getting in there, was told by repairer that Budget don't pay for a return trip to pick the car up. Rang Budget and told the same thing. So I have to pay my own way to get back in. Had another car repaired by RACV who paid for a cab both ways. Now I know why they are 'Budget'

Don't buy Budget Direct, especially when you're holding a provisional license
They will reject to insure you if you make a claim when you're holding a provisional license. So, if you choose Budget Direct, try not to make any mistakes.
If you are declined by a car insurer, other companies don't want to give you a quote or insure you. Few companies do, but much higher premium.
I reserved and hit a car at the back, and then Budget Direct rejected my renewal and it caused difficulty in buying from others due to my bad history record (only 1 claim). They didn't give me other choices, for example, increase my premium, just r...Read more
ejected me. I don't have any fine or merit points. Mistakes sometimes happen but not with Budget Direct. It's hard for a new driver like me to continue to drive to gain driving experience. I'm not happy with the service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What a joke! 0 stars
I updated my address and realised I made a small window chip claim 3 years ago, added it into my policy for transparency and my insurance premium went from $2000 to $4000 annually. Wow, what a joke? Then the guy said 'oh ill try and do something about that'. If that's what you think you can do off the bat with peoples policies then you're unethical.

Useless when needed
Had a major accident, didn't even tow my car for two weeks. And were very slow and using every excuse possible to reject the claim. Changing insurance as soon as I can.

Up and Down with Budget Direct Claim
I submitted my claim on 9th Feb 2020 and contacted the insurance company three times a week to update myself with the progress. Every step of the claim process has been faced with significant delay without any explanation from their end. The call centre staff are polite, but my assessor has been quite difficult to deal with, but in the end he approaches me more properly with less aggression after I made a couple of complaints against him . On 10th Mar 2020, I have received a call from the assessor advising the market value of my written-off car which is above my expectation and I am very happy with the outcome. Thank you, Budget Direct.

Dishonest policy, dishonest assessors
BIG MISTAKE, go elsewhere. I’ve been with BudgetDirect ever since I got my new car, which was just under 2 years ago. They have the new for old replacement policy and were cheaper than others and seemed to have positive reviews and rewards, so I went with them.
I got into a car accident (not at fault) and they waived my excess and offered me a 14-day car hire. So far, so good. My car was severely damaged in front and back and the tow guy said it’s definitely a write off when he towed my car away. Anyway, a couple of days later, the car is tow...Read more
ed to their assessment centre in Laverton. They have a couple of other assessment centres which would have been closer to where I live but for whatever reasons, they towed it to the centre opposite side of town from me. Then the nightmare begins. I receive a call from the assessor about two days after it is towed to their assessment centre. He says they can repair the car. I ask him how much the repair cost and he was really vague and said around $12,000 at first. I tell him I want to choose my own repairer and get a second opinion on the extent of damage (I selected the option to choose my choice of repairer in my policy). The 2 panel beaters that I called up and showed pictures to all estimated my car as a write off and said it’s expensive to fix, but to get an accurate assessment, I’d need to bring the car in so they can see all the damage. When I told BD, they rejected my choice of repairer and said my car is repairable and they will get a quote themselves. They went to their own panel beater and came back with a second quote of $8k, which is significantly lower than the original quote and refused to use my repairer. I also had an agreed value for the car, which they refused to pay. Stupid me, I should have held my ground on this as I paid for this in my policy, but it’s my first accident and I wasn’t really sure i could do this until later on. Anyway, a few back and forth with the support centre (FYI, their support centre and assessment centres are different. Every time I called the support centre, they told me to call the assessment centre to get the latest update). In the end I repaired the car but sold it privately at a much lower price because the lost value in the accident. Beware of this shady company, their assessors are dishonest and dodgy. Their underwriters are Auto & General and it’s been a very frustrating experience for me to deal with them. They gave me two assessments which varied in cost and refused my choice of repairer even though it’s in my policy and even though I was not at fault in this accident. I’m sure they’re making a profit from all these claims. I sure won’t be insuring with them for my next car that’s for sure. Dishonest people, dishonest policy.Similar opinion?
