Hi,
A key symbol has recently appeared on the display of the oven. The oven still turns on, but no heat. We were thinking it was perhaps some kind of child lock function, but it is not listed anywhere in the manual. Could you please advise if the key symbol does mean the child lock is on, and if so how to disable?
Not sure why there is no explanation in the manual of what this symbol means or what to do when you encounter it!
Many thanks
Jan

Due to a brownout the clock is causing the oven to turn off once the timer has run out. Can only put timer to 10 mins and then continually reset. Is there a fixable solution?

Thank you.

I have only had my Smeg gas top electric oven stove for a a month and the flame diffuser spreaders have discoloured badly and I can't get them clean by the method the instruction book suggests. Any ideas?

I am glad to hear it is not just me, but no: I have had the same experience and that stuff just doesnt clean off. Annoying - I am not losing sleep over it but would be keen to know if anyone else has any solutions that work.

Hi Judith the best way to clean the burner skirts is with Gumption and steel wool, only clean the skirts this way not the cook top.

Should I hear the sound of gas from behind/outside the oven when it is heating? Haven't noticed this before, but I'm not sure it wasn't doing it. I've had the range for two years.

Hi Lorie it all depends on the way the plumbing has been installed, you can sometimes get a noise in the gas pipes if it is under two years old you can get a warranty call for a technician to look at it, please call Smeg service on 02 8667 4833.

Hi, I bought a C6GVXA8 Gas Stove which seems very HOT. I have always been able to cook Pavlova's, Sponges, etc but now they are continually overcooking the edges and base. I had to cook my last Pav with the door open as I couldn't go down low enough in temperature. Is there an adjustment that can be made?

Hi! I have been researching gas free standing stoves 60cm and came upon the smeg c6gmxa, we are using lpg gas. Can you get a conversion kit with this stove? We generally don't use the grill but need a good oven space to fit at least a good sized bake dinner.

Dear Tracy, All Smeg Gas appliances come with the LPG injectors in the installation kits supplied and the installer would then convert the appliance when he installs the unit.

Hi Tracey. I am looking at the same SMEG freestanding cooker you discuss in your review, to convert from NG Gas to LPG? How did your conversion to LPG go? Have you had any issues? I have been researching LPG suitable freestanding stoves and cannot seem to find one that has not had issues or bad reviews. That's why I decided to search Natural Gas options and look at converting to LPG. Thanks heaps Liz

Hi, I bought a C6GMXA8 freestanding oven in August 2012 and the oven is no longer heating up- it appears the element in oven has gone. The griller still works. I'd like to order the element and replace myself. Can this be done as I can't afford expensive labour costs? I live in Geelong and am disappointed that the heating of the oven only lasted 3 years, to me that seems very poor. Thankyou Kerry 20/10/2015

I am researching gas cookers at the moment, upright 60cm, but need to be fully LPG as we are in the country, and electricity is not an option. Would you be able to advise on the model?

We have a 60cm Gas/Gas upright cooker in our range.

This Upright cooker also has an electric grill so therefore it will not suit your needs.

Hi I think this must be the model of mine. I just got this oven used, hardly used but in great condition when a kitchen was renovated...was so happy with Smeg and the the stove top works brilliantly..., but tonight I tried to bake and it started off fine and when I checked it expectantly it had then died...I tried for over 30 mins to get it going...it teased me by staying on for a few minutes and then I would hear it click off...what can I do? cold raw baked veges and no dinner made me very very very unhappy and frustrated..It seems a fan clicks in somewhere in the procedure ...but what can I do...I wanna cook in my oven ...my excitement over owning a smeg has disappeared..
